Run by amateurs who think they're smarter than the average bear. The bear would win, paws down. Used lab equipment is a market filled with sketchy players who will sell you broken junk on Kijiji or Ebay with pretty catalogue pictures, circa 1992, and claim it works or that they have it in stock when, in fact, they still have to find one after you've paid them for it.
But scamming people is a skill. It requires intelligence and basic written English. Making the assumption that your potential customers are idiots is arrogant. They do get one star for using some 3-syllable words correctly in a sentence - but zero points for style because they sound like a desperate high school student writing a last-minute essay using a thesaurus while smoking too much of their own....well, you know.
