Here is why I will never ever use Schweiger Dermatology again, and why you probably shouldn't either:
1) They have never, not once, responded to a message sent to them through their portal.
2) I recently (in April 2026) developed a lump in the exact spot where I'd fairly recently had a basal cell carcinoma removed. I also had an upcoming appointment in July, but thought maybe this was alarming enough for me to come in sooner. I sent this portal message:
"I've developed a small but noticeable lump in pretty much the exact location where I had a basal cell carcinoma. In view of the location, I am wondering if I should come in sometime before my next scheduled appt. in July."
As always, absolutely no response.
3) So I tried sending the exact same message by email, via the "send us an email" link on the Schweiger web page. The response I got was:
"According to our records, you already have an upcoming in-office appointment scheduled for Friday, July 31, 2026".
In other words, they hadn't even read my message.
4) So I emailed back, pointing out that I already knew about the scheduled July appointment but wanted to know, in light of the situation, whether they thought I should come in sooner.
This email got no response whatsoever.
5) So I called, with the same question: This is a pretty minor lump, and maybe it can wait till July, but in view of the location, I wonder if I should come in sooner.
The answer was "It's completely up to you".
I asked if I could get a medical opinion on this. The receptionist said sure, she'd have someone on the medical team give me a callback later on that day. (I have a transcript of the phone call.) It's been nine days and I still haven't gotten that callback.
6) At this point, of course, I've found a different dermatologist who was happy to answer my questions and quickly determined that there is no cause for alarm.
7) Schweiger turned out to be completely unresponsive to a reasonable question, first through their portal, then through their advertised "contact us" email address, and then by phone. This is enough of a pattern to make me pretty sure that it's a manifestation of corporate culture, not a one-off oversight. There are plenty of good dermatologists around, and no reason to let yourself be mistreated by Schweiger.
PS: Several days after the phone call reported above, I made a separate phone call to Schweiger to cancel my July appointment. They did respond to that one. I mention this just in case they respond to this review by saying "But we DID return your phone call". They did NOT return the phone call that really mattered. read more
