Since these reviews are over five years old, I thought I should add one. My son took percussion lessons at SOR, Cherry Hill for two years. He had three different teachers and all were excellent. Two left without notice or saying goodbye, and the third Naama was his last (any my favorite). The price of the lessons were 220 monthly for 30 minute weekly lessons. This is overpriced compared to other teachers/schools I have found in the area. If you want performance lessons, the price is way higher. I also found that it isn't a warm and welcoming place. No one would greet us, I hadn't had a conversation with anyone other than the drum teachers. It's like we were invisible. Even, the director (who has since left) would walk right by and not acknowledge us. The students were cliquey and not once did anyone say hello to my son, who is very shy and joined SOR to learn and hopefully make friends. Never a hello, how are you guys today?", from anyone. Lessons would be cancelled at the last minute and if I didn't follow up and ask for added time or a reschedule, we wouldn't get one. They were sure to take their fees on time though. If your child is not extremely outgoing and really good on an instrument, don't bother, seek private one on one lessons somewhere else. I suggest Gregory Tech Drum Center in Yardley, PA. read more

Wow, a great place to learn an instrument or learn to sing and perform Rock and Roll. My daughter is enrolled in the performance class and she is always so excited to go to her weekly practices. The teachers there are excellent and know how to get the best out of the kids. School of Rock is a great way to learn a new instrument. They teach by doing, which has been the best way for my children to learn their instruments. The teachers are patient and everyone we have dealt with so far has been wonderful to work with. My son left his first ever class playing a song, which kept him excited and interested. Both kids (ages 7 and 9) absolutely love SOR, and look forward to lessons and Rock 101 (band practice with others). I highly recommend this program to anyone who is interested in learning a new instrument!! read more

School of Rock in Cherry Hill is more than just music lessons. It's a music culture. My sons will be celebrating their one year anniversary as "students" of the School of Rock this May and they have loved every minute of it. When my boys started, the most they could play was a recorder. Before I knew it not only were they playing the keyboard, and reading music but they were up on stage with the help of Vince and Charlie H. in the Rock 101 jam sessions. If you told me a year ago my oldest was going to play in front of a crowd I would have said, "You've not met my [very shy] son." Al gives my oldest the support and patience he needs and John helps my youngest stay interested by letting him play the music he wants to play. He sneaks in the fundamentals before my son even knows what happened. The school is full of talented, accomplished musicians who approach learning an instrument and music in a way that creates excitement, love, and appreciation for the entire craft. More importantly they give my boys the extra boost of confidence they need while making rockin' out FUN, FUN, FUN. School of Rock is as kid-friendly as a school can get! read more

The teachers are all incredible and all take part in making sure your child has the experience they need to become an accomplished player. All the instructors still perform live in the area and tour the country as working musicians so they are in touch with the latest trends and acts that allow them to stay current with what is hot in the music world. Lessons are tailored to whatever your child wants to learn and besides the chords, scales & modes needed to be a proficient player, the teachers will school them on how to perform live, introduce them do many different styles of music and teach them about the history of rock and the key musicians to focus on to really broaden your child's music library. Ok people, let's talk about a real education in music. I attended an open house on saturday and seen an awesome rock n roll show put on by the most creative kids i've seen in a long while. I believe all kids have this creativity inside them, but it takes talented people to bring it out and the instructors at the Cherry Hill School of Rock have that talent. I don't know where else kids as young as 8 yrs old can go and get to a level of playing music collectively in a band setting in so little time. Also, the older kids, the C team are so good I can see them expressing themselves in a CD or video very soon. The School of Rock Cherry Hill is a top notch music school for kids an adults and in my opinion from what i've seen on saturday they have the passion and enthusiasm to take anyone and turn them into a musician and performing on stage in front of a crowd and fulfilling their dreams. I simply loved the show and the whole family atmosphere. It was a FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!!!! read more
