What always amazes me is that kids of different ethnicities all blend and shine during these performances when signing songs & citing poems in different languages. In the very beginning, we expressed our opinions regarding summer field trips offered at the time, and the owner (Oxana) listened to our collective input and made some corrections the following year. It really felt good to be heard. It's sad to read some reviews where parents blame their kids bruises on staff ... we had it all, even a scar and ended up in an emergency room with our son due to an accident that happened in a classroom. Was it a teacher's fault? After talking to the teacher & examining the place of accident, our choice was to trust them and give our confidence that we believe & rely on them every day we leave our kids with them. Did we have bruises? Oh, yes, we did, and scratches & bleeding knees when my son fell off the bike. Was it a teacher's fault again? Show me a kid that grows up without bruises. I believe that teachers and parents should all work together and learn how to respond versus reacting to some things that are simply inevitable. Are big day cares best fit for all kids, probably not, but it's up to a parent to make those choices wisely without putting blame on people who've been working there for years.

This was my first baby and I was apprehensive about daycare; however, I went through a lot of nannies due to scheduling conflicts. When I went to Mersiha, you could tell she had a love for children and what she did for a living AND carried around a planner to set up dates far out in advance. I love how organized she is and how she interacts with kids. As a pediatric nurse with no family in the area, it was a God send to have Mersiha's family daycare around the corner. She was flexible with my crazy 12 hour shifts. She is very reliable and I have never had issues with having the coverage that I needed. Her prices are very reasonable for the area. Her attention to detail is amazing and she was even willing to support all of my first mom needs. We had an app and she would chart to appease my neurotic nursing nature. She helped me with getting Rhiley on a schedule and would alert me to any issues that were present with our little one. It's amazing how she keeps track of it all. I loved how much fun I could tell Rhiley had from spending a full day with Mersiha and the other kids. You could tell how much they both loved each other. And I loved how big of a smile Rhiley and Mersiha had when they would both see each in the morning or evening. Costs are higher than some ($1640 a month for infants, cheaper as the child gets older), but is childcare really where you want to scrimp? Only downside is construction in the area - but I would hate to see the best child care center in the state suffer due to traffic patterns. They do tours once a month for prospective families.

I first went here two years ago, as the church hosts a Mom-Baby group for first-time moms, sponsored by NW Community Hospital. Through it, I got to get to know other moms (who now host their own home playgroups) and talk to perinatal educators one morning a week. Those outings were extremely valuable and probably saved my sanity. (It meets every Tuesday from 10-11:30 am). The church also offers Parents' Day Out, a one-day a week Christian childcare program. Open to kids 6 mos-5 years, PDO is staffed by teachers and kids attend from 9:30-1:30. Tuition for the 9 month school year is $73/month for kids under 3 ($63/month for kids 3+). Again - a sanity saver. I'm not in the market for a church, but if I was, I'd give First Presbyterian serious consideration - mainly for the kid/family programs and ministries.
