We love knowledge beginnings. It is a warm, nurturing environment with wonderful teachers. It is clean and happy and our son loves it!

Poko Loko Early Learning Center

Poko Loko Early Learning Center

Poko Loko Glenview is just a delightful place for little children. Upon walking in, you almost feel…read morelike you are being transported into a Mr. Rogers episode! There's color everywhere, a train track suspended from the ceiling, a piano, and many smiling faces. My daughter attended the Jr. KG class for only a month or so and really loved her teachers! They focus on various themes and split their day up nicely between learning and playing! Although we know learning does take place while playing. Haha! They have an attached outdoor playground, which is nice! Breakfast is provided if your child gets there by 8. Lunch and snacks are also provided. It is a nut free facility. Cubbies are clearly labeled if a child has an allergy! It is organized perfectly! Poko Loko definitely has a family vibe!

Since we moved to Chicago we have been doing our very best and paying out of pocket for him to get speech and occupational therapy. After just 2 months at Poko Loko and 3 separate instances of being called to pick up our son early due to screaming and hitting another child (he's 3 years old) we were patronizingly told by the owner Bonnie "in 52 years of experience I've only had to ask 2 other children to leave. You have until Fall." Statements like that aren't helpful, they make me feel bad about my son, and they are unprofessional. I seriously doubt that my son is the only difficult child they've had, and if so, then their experience is worthless, because they are unwilling to help or even give him time to settle in from a major transition like moving across the country. Before we were asked to leave the center, the manager and owner made no effort to guide us (52 years of experience right?), come up with an action plan, and offered no insight on local resources to help our son. They wanted us out. This review primarily addresses the Owner and manager. The teachers tried. The moral of the story is that they are simply looking for a frictionless tuition check while making little effort to actually help the parents and children. All while charging top dollar rates. I am very disappointed in the unprofessionalism and the downright rude way in which we were asked to leave the center. I made it known that the next time a child needs some help, offering more support and guidance using their years of experience might help the parents and kid more than a simple goodbye.

As a new mom, I truly appreciated all the encouragement and advice you gave me throughout this journey. All teachers are so nice and supporting kids to learn and grow up. Ms.Park, Ms. Zoa, Ms. Aprensa teachers are so friendly with the kids so our kid didn't miss us. Thank you so much for everything you have done for our family. We are truly grateful for your kindness, patience, and dedication. We will always cherish these wonderful memories and wish you all the best.

The teachers are absolutely wonderful, the food is spectacular (my daughter would constantly rave about the food), and the environment itself is VERY clean and child friendly. In addition, the curriculum is great! They provide group instruction that is fun and easy for the children to pick up and they also provide individualized and small group instruction for children who are at a different pace. They attend to each child and take notice of what they know and don't know and provide instruction based on that. Children's Land definitely prepared my daughter for school. She went to kindergarden being able to read, write, and her math skills were certainly more advanced than at the kindergarden level. Other great assets to the childcare is that they teach music, dance, art, Russian, and Spanish! Overall, our experiences at Children's Land have been great!

Kensington School is a great school to enroll your child at or to teach at. The curriculum they…read moregive to the students are far beyond what other schools are doing. They also have specialists that come in to the schools everyday from music teachers, Spanish teachers, movement and yoga teachers. It is great to see these specialists in the school. Kensington is also giving their students e-learning experiences. Kensington School is also a great school to work at. The school is owned by a family and it shows how much they love their staff. They pay their staff well and it feels like one big family. I have worked for many child care centers, but this is the first school where I feel they truly care about their staff. They give yearly raises as well and there is always room for growth in the company.

Kensington holds extremely high standards for employees. There is a vigorous screening and…read moreinterview process in order to be considered for a position, and once hired there is high expectations of staff. However, because of this, it is an extremely professional and enriching setting. Kensington teachers are also the highest paid in the field. They are thought of as educators, not just babysitters or daycare workers. As Kensington expands, it offers substantial opportunities for growth. There's no other early learning center like it. The Glenview location has a group of amazing women who care so deeply about the education and all around growth of their children. These girls are the best of the best! I chose to enroll my two children here because the curriculum is so rich. Kensington offers top of the line learning experiences and opportunities that we would not be able to find anywhere else. I am also extremely impressed with how Kensington has stepped up during the Covid shutdown. They are offering Zoom learning at least twice a week for each class, plus enrichment classes. We get multiple weekly "learning from home newsletters" with brilliant and easy to do ideas for home. There is constant communication with Directors and the teachers. They are doing all this while not charging for tuition. It's obvious that they truly care about the children.
