My son Reid went to CLP since he was 18 months old, which I believe is the youngest to be admitted…read moreto the school. Being so young and a sensitive kid in nature, we definitely are a bit nervous about his experience at school. We toured several schools around the area before deciding CLP, since it immediately feels right to Reid and us. It feels a more homy environment with very close interactions between principle, teachers and kids. Ms. Rai and Ms. Anna are so caring and compassionate about their works. Compared to a bigger facility, I feel Ms.Rai and Ms. Anna knows Reid's character and support his very personal emotional needs. And I want to address one of the comments down below about Mr.Rai as administrator does not provide enough interaction with parents about children's daily activities. That is so NOT the experience for us. Actually quite opposite. Yes, CLP does not have a online reporting system like many other daycares. However, every time I need to talk to either with teacher or administrator about how Reid is doing, with regarding to eating, napping, emotions, activities, I wan responded and explained immediately. I was invited to watch how he is actually doing in the daycare. We also had difficult times that we need to do adjustments for Reid's schedule, and Ms. Rai was always very patient and accommodating to our requests. So, I love the experience there and will send my second child to this daycare.

My son and daughter have such different personalities, but CLP has been able to nurture both of them as individuals. It is a small school and I love that all the kids know each and every child in the school because of this. I did have to adjust expectations about electronic communication since we came from a much bigger school, but the director and teachers are easily accessible, so I get all my questions answered the same day. Also loved the summer program since it was what I consider "Montessori-lite" and the kids were able to do swim lessons at the Y twice a week.

Our daughter attended CMS for eleven years (pre/elementary/middle school). She had an amazing…read moreexperience there: everything from the teachers to staff, other students and parents. The primary function of school should be learning. CMS excels at this, of course, but it also excels at teaching children the love of learning. This is such a foundational piece of one's being. Countryside's teachers and staff embody the spirit in their essence. Our daughter learned at a very early age the foundation of Montessori: respect, responsibility and resourcefulness. They don't take the easy way, but they take the best way to teach children ways to be strong, independent and well educated. Our daughter has thrived due to their nurturing environment. She's gone on many service trips, become a silent leader and now in high school, still enjoys going to school every day and learning new topics. CMS instilled this into her (and us) at an early age and together we've watched her become a wonderful young adult. CMS may not be for everyone, but if you want to raise an independent, self confident young adult, please take the time to visit the school, talk with the teachers and staff and learn their perspective. They are professional educators and take this very seriously. We are not teachers. We are not professional educators. But it was quite clear when we first visited them, that they are professionals and are dedicated to their mission. We were fortunate to have watched the school transition from the original headmaster to the current headmaster (Wendy Calise) and the transition was as seamless as possible. We've also seen the middle school program develop with the addition of new staff and a new building. They've incorporated the core principles of Maria Montessori and have created a program that runs from their toddler program all the way through eight grade. The school puts so much back into the community, staff and parents. We always felt a part of the school and learned so much in how to best raise our daughter in a consistent environment with the school. We really could not have envisioned a better program for her!

Unfortunately, our experience at Countryside wasn't great. We learned very quickly that our 18…read moremonth old child (at the time) was constantly being restrained and the only child being restrained- which goes against the montessori philosophy. After 2.5 months, we immediately removed him of this institution, despite paying that hefty tuition.

After moving from Logan Square and going to Montessori Academy of Chicago (which was beyond…read morewonderful) I was scared that nothing would match the level of care and learning that my 2 daughters received when we moved to Glencoe but thankfully we found Guidepost Montessori at Deerbrook. Christine and Abbey run this school like all of the children are their own. They are warm, inviting, caring and thoughtful. My daughter is 4 and in the pre-school program and the activities she participates in are endless - art class, karate, woodworking, cooking etc. The teachers are top notch and really put a lot of effort into each and every day. My other daughter is in the nursery program and the teachers in that classroom are unmatched. The teachers go above and beyond for the babies as well as the parents in sending home adorable crafts and activities that your child will do during the day. My daughter is always clean (which is a hard feat to accomplish for a 1 year old) and I truly feel like I'm dropping her off with someone in my family every morning. The teachers put up pictures daily on the internal website so you really feel as if you have a good grasp on what your child/children are doing everyday and as a working mom, that means so much to me. There is a wonderful outside playground that the kids love to play on and pickups/dropoffs are seamless and easy without rigid rules that don't work for working parents. The school itself is new and clean which was a huge plus for me. I compared a bunch of different schools in the area prior to our move and I know I made the right decision for my girls.

There is a lot of drama at this school between teachers and other staff members. Unfortunately,…read morethis has contributed to fairly substantial teacher turnover, which is not good for the kids. Many parents have ended up pulling their children out of the school. I've lost count of how many school presidents have come and gone. The school has also cut back on meals and snacks to save money. Not too long ago, the school was open on most holidays. Now, almost every holiday is a day off, which means parents have to make arrangements to watch their children. The current president, Sonia, does not seem to be very familiar with the school's policies and practices. Half the time, she doesn't seem to know what she is talking about, which can be very frustrating for parents. Based on the school's track record, however, there will probably be another president sooner rather than later. On the positive side, there are a few teachers and teacher assistants who are truly some of the best people I have ever met. They put their heart and soul into caring for each child, and I honestly believe that is one of the main reasons some families continue to stay at the school.

I was very excited that I found this school and there was an opening that aligned with our timing as well as the Montessori approach to education. This was our first experience in a classroom setting and our nerves were high. Not only was the transition smooth for my child, but it was also exceptional for the parents. There were a few hiccups in on-boarding, likely due to the extra stress and situation of COVID, but everything was easily fixed and approached with grace. The infant teacher, Miss Ivette, is warm, kind, and responsive. The head of the school, Miss Natasha, is fast to respond, insightful, and helpful. All teachers have been very open to discussing anything: sleeping, eating, learning, etc., and working together on solutions. My child has been at the school for four months and transitioned into the toddler room this past month. We're pleased with the care, the growth we've seen and look forward to becoming a part of the school community.

I called MAMG to schedule a tour and gather information. The lady I spoke with was so dry and seemed uninterested. Regardless, I scheduled a tour as maybe she was having a bad day and I realize that not everyone can be cheery all the time. :) The tour went well, and I made sure it was scheduled w/ another person. She was friendly and kind. I asked this lady for a packet or folder of information and she was surprised that the first lady I spoke with never emailed it to me. She took down my email address and said she would request that lady to send it to me. Guess what? I never received it! I just think that is horrible practice. I have enrolled my daughter elsewhere. But, I thought the business owner/manager should know about the incompetence of the person I dealt with. I am happy to speak further about it...as I don't want to call out this individual on a public platform.

As an early childhood educator myself, I struggled with the idea of putting my children in a childcare center, but Riverwoods Montessori is far beyond what you find anywhere else! I have looked at many different options for our kids, and nothing has come close to the experience we have had there. This Fall, our third child will begin his infant program at Riverwoods and it is the only place I can imagine trusting with my baby! We highly recommend their programs!

In our particular case at the Riverwoods, IL location, with only one parent teacher conference months before stressing a few correctable problems, were the director's tone was very optimistic, it was a surprise to later hear that our child is no longer welcomed. When we were told of the expulsion, the director's response, which felt more like a lecture, was very cold. We were given 7 business days, that also happened to be during a major holiday week were schools are closed and providers are unavailable/limited, to find a new care provider. The director's handling of our situation was irresponsible and disrespectful. Perhaps, if she would have suggested and worked with us to create and document a mutual plan, provide progress reports and establish a clear channel for communication, we would have had a different outcome, (or at least a better understanding and respect for how they acted.) Happily, we found wonderful care for our child who is thriving and well adjusted. I would never recommend this provider and ask other parents to reconsider placing their child under the supervision of this director.
