Clearly reheated and some of it was just damn hard to chew. The salad was fine. The sparkling water was not so much. Even my friend, who lives close by mentioned that it was not his favorite place.

Put the lid back on and the food stays hot while you try everything on the menu you possibly can. Everything in those jars was exceptional. A few notes: reservations are very required, but if you want to try just walking in, go early. This is how we landed a table and it was worth the gambit. Do not dine in the tourist section. The new part of town is where all of the interesting and amazing restaurants are and the locals are never crossing the bridge to eat. Of all the places we went to, Lila Sosse was the high water mark.

(There is a park behind the beer garden, so the overall vibe is super chill.) As for the food and drink, they exceeded our expectations. After having eaten out a lot over a two-week trip, the food here was much better than most of the places we visited in Germany. The pasta my daughter had was great -- lots of fresh veggies mixed in and it was her most memorable dish the entire two weeks. I had the white asparagus with a schnitzel and could not have been happier -- the asparagus and hollandaise sauce was outstanding, and the schnitzel one of the better I had all trip. As for the service, the folks who helped us were polite, funny and cool. I highly recommend this establishment. So glad we found it. Highly, highly recommended!!

It was closed, but looking in through the windows, and reading some of the menu written on the windows, it seemed worthy of at least a cup of coffee. We went back the next morning and had a full breakfast. I ordered the vegan and gluten free banana pancakes with a mint tea (fresh mint leaves in hot water), and my hubs ordered 2 poached eggs on sourdough with salmon and a coffee. Everything was delicious. The pancakes were a little more dense than I had imagined, but were full of flavor, and the apple-cinnamon-vanilla compote and fruit were a nice fresh and light compliment. I especially loved the presentation with each piece of fruit (melon, pineapple, kiwi, grapefruit and husk cherry) all stuck-through with a skewer to keep them together. My husband thought the bread had a great flavor and texture, the portion of salmon was generous, the poached eggs were perfect, and the hollandaise sauce was also tasty. We were very happy. Since the next day after that was our last morning in Dresden, and we wanted to make sure we had a good meal before our long train ride back to Frankfurt, we visited a second time. This time I had the poached eggs on sourdough, but with mushrooms, and the hubs had poached eggs on sourdough with ham. Both were very good, but we agreed we liked our combos the first day better. Still, the food quality was fresh, presentation and atmosphere were lovely, and we really liked the fact that they put a lot of effort into offering options for those with food allergies and intolerances. This place has all options you can wish for plus more. This place is easily reachable with the two tram stops right in front. Unlike other reviewers, we only waited 5-10 min for our food on a busy Sunday morning. Ambient is nice, good music, and all staff was friendly. I absolutely don't mind the self-service, since that makes everything faster. You get a pager that indicates when your food is ready - no yelling whatsoever. Saw plenty of families and people of all ages. Highly recommend!
