He was a cranky little thing, but his gifts and expertise were worth dealing with him. He was the most amazing "old school" no-nonsense doctor. He was my doctor for 25 years and I never saw my self-seeding anyone else. I am a critical care nurse and his level of knowledge and medicine was incredible. I will miss you, Dr. Schneider. I was a just a 21-year-old girl when I started seeing you, and now at 44yrs old, I wish I could have told you how much you were appreciated. We arrived 20min passed our appointment time (and I had already called ahead to let them know we were running late) Once there, we were having a hard time finding the entrance since the bldg. # was right next to a medical spa business. I then called Schneider's office and the phone was now answered by his front office clerk. I asked her how do I get to the building entrance & was trying to verify that we were at the correct location & she quickly said "just come inside" and hung up in my face! Luckily whoever the medical spa hired to run their front desk was very pleasant and she told us how to get to the correct entrance. Once arriving, she continued speaking to us rudely and acting unprofessional. Fast Forward To Actual Dr. Visit: After me and my hubby both got inside of Schneider's exam room, he looks to me and says, "who are u"? At the same time me and my husband responded that I'm his wife. No hello or how are you guys from this Dr, just an uninviting "who are you". He next looks at my husband and said do you want her in here? Me and my husband were wondering why he was asking this; obviously he had me come back there with him!?!? At previous offices our physician would offer me a seat and introduce themselves, not rudely insinuate that they don't want me present. My husband quickly said yes I discuss all medical matters with my wife, of course she can be In here. Schneider then started to ask medical questions. My husband began to answer but he looked to me signaling me to chime in to help him with his answers since he gets brain fog from fighting pain constantly. I started to speak and Schneider looks sharply at me to say "are you the patient? I'm asking him a question". After the shock I responded that I'm helping my husband, he cuts me off and begins to say "I'm not talking to you! I'm talking to him, ok! I can't take two people talking at the same time". Me & my hubby both looked at each other like what is wrong with this guy. My husband then said I don't appreciate how your talking to my wife she is hear because I asked her to be here and for me, to help me with my appointment. Schneider then says " Well your free to leave! I'm not keeping you here." The level of this guys arrogance and rudeness was UNREAL! I immediately wanted to leave but we continued with the visit so my hubby's time off from work wasn't in vain, but I was almost in tears from being talked to and addressed in such a rude and insensitive way. Now let's Fast forward, the appointment continued with Schnieder taking down some notes, asking questions and cutting my husband off, cursing (yes he was cursing during our visit and did the "excuse my language" but nonetheless continued cursing... He just has the worse bedside manners! He told us how although he specializes in Rheumatoid he is acting as my hubby's PCP so he doesn't want to talk about my husband's rheumatoid concerns because that is a different pay grade, which was another thing we found to be extremely insensitive. I definitely don't feel like he would fight for my husband in getting to the bottom of his issues and he could care less about your concerns or what you have to say. He is all about asking you a question and rushing you to get to the point and the amount he is being paid. He stopped in the middle of his examination to remind us of how many minutes we had left till our visit was over 5 times!! I couldn't believe he was constantly clocking us.... Bottom line is my husband and I were hopeful and eager to see a knowledgeable Cedar doctor who would show that he cared about his well being but all he did was stress my husband out more and we left even more discouraged about his medical situation. If you are considering him as your Dr I would say run the other way, he is as mean as they come and we have immediately switched to a very knowledgeable and amazing Cedar doctor! It was nice to see a doctor who actually takes notes and he spent a good deal of time going over my history but.. It's pretty damned awful when I'm being ridiculed by a doctor while I'm in so much pain I can't answer questions nor defend myself. I didn't even understand why I was being cut off mid-sentance and generally treated like crap. I think he was even judging me based on my clothing. Very disappointed that I can't find a doctor who can do their job and atleast be cordial. read more

Saw this bitter angry little old man about 6 months ago for the first time. I'm still not sure how I managed to make it threw and out of there without being escorted by security or cops cause the guy is a straight up A**H***! A few months have passed and after much hesitation I decided to give it another shot and call about another check up etc appointment earlier today....BIG MISTAKE!! He answered the phone himself and before I could get out my first sentence he rudely interrupted me telling me (in his own special way) I mumble and to speak up! I loudly told him not to worry about it,I'm gonna go ahead and look for a different.....uhm....doctor! Long story short: Don't waste your time with little angry ,unable to retire and pissed about it, Mr KnowItAll (especially people with high blood pressure)! I really like Dr. Schneider. Every time I go, I don't have to wait like most offices which is amazing, the front desk lady is nice and Joel has a lot of knowledge, facility is clean and easy to get to, always has appointments available. He always tries to help as best as he can with anything you need and he is very quick. It's perfect for someone who just needs check ups and wants to be in and out. But also great if you have other concerns that you want to know more about. He tries every possible way to help before resulting to medicine or anything like that. He eases worry for sure. I don't think he's rude. He has a sense of humor that may be taken as sarcastic or something but if you have a sense of humor and aren't easily taken back, then you'll be just fine. Dr. Schneider has been my trusted doctor since moving to LA (from NYC) in 2000. By far, he is the best primary care doctor I've ever had, and I welcome his honesty and expertise. That said, I fully disagree with the negative reviews I've read here, although I do understand how a truthful and forward personality can cause an emotional reaction in some. But come on... If you are at all concerned about your health, don't you want a doctor who is an expert, gives a damn, and also respects your busy schedule? I do. read more

This is my first (and likely last) Yelp review, but after reading the other patient posts, I can't help but comment. I've known Dr. Schneider for many years. My late husband was one of his first West Hollywood patients. Dr. Schneider has provided care to everyone in the family and repeatedly saved my husband's life, sometimes as a direct result of that unique style discussed by other posters, and always as a result of knowledge and skill. This doctor unquestionably fights - not against his patients, but for them, and he never concludes a visit without ensuring all concerns are addressed. Dr. Schneider is intimidated by no one, so patients can depend on an honest assessment, even if it conflicts with that of a colleague. Those who don't stick around long enough to develop an appreciation for this tenacious physician are truly at a loss. The rest of us are forever grateful. read more

I was so hesitant to come and see Dr. Schneider because of all the negative reviews I read, but after my 1st visit I am thankful to be one of his patients, the dedication and care he has showed me I cannot thank him enough, I don't think he is a rude person, he goes straight to the problem and treated it. This man deserves no stars yelp made me hive him one.he has no etiquite in being a doctor he treated me with no respect and no courtesy nor any sympathy from him bruising my arm from taking my blood pressure. He said if I was complaining to go elsewhere. He made me feel very uncomfortable he has no medical assistant he does every thing himself. Hes a very grumpy crabby old man with a very bad attitude. He was arguing with me when I asked him for a rx for a diuretic for my water retention and feet swelling i was having from a side effect from a rx he had prescribed. I was so upset and left crying. OK I didn't read any of these reviews before selecting Dr Schneider as my PCP. Yes he's abrupt, yes he has a New York kind of way about him yet he's also knowledgeable and once you get past the roughness is a very caring a smart physician with years of experience. Not sure what people are expecting from their doctors now days yet you'll not get a lollipop from him or his front desk manager Tammy. You will get a professional assessment and in my few encounters a man who really does care about your well being. Say what you will and I'll provide my opinion which is he's the real deal. He's honest and most people have an issue with the truth being told to them. Want BS then go to some nice physician who only cares about having you as a client. Want the truth then go to Dr Schneider and be prepared for it!. read more
