I love the outdoor patio (it's a courtyard and has plants and is attractive). I think there are outdoor heaters in cooler weather. The terrace is a smaller raised platform inside the courtyard, it might be covered which would be nice in case of rain. I have never eaten inside the restaurant building as I'm usually there in nice weather and love the patio. Service is friendly, there is nice wine and some decent beers. I am usually dying to go here after days of German kitchens where my veg options are so limited. Highly recommended. Everyone I know who has been here has loved it. The building was once a brewery and is in Old Town Bamberg and on your way to/from the beer kellers on Oberer Stephensburg.

We thought the main meal was suppose to be Filet Mignon Steak, but to our surprise, it was 2 small slices of Roast Beef. Although it tasted great, I was not there to pay 120 Euros for a main meal of Roast Beef. The Potatoes that came out with the main meal were cut in a perfect square, giving the idea that it came from a pre made pan, and tasted HORRIBLE. I told our waiter (Mario) about it and to try to fix the problem, he gave my wife and I a shot (Although it was New Year's, we didn't really care for a shot of alcohol to reconcile given we were drinking wine and not in our younger years anymore!). The dessert finally showed up at 2330 and it was a little chunk of ice cream and some terrible panna cotta that we didn't even eat. So from 1750 to 2340, 120 Euros for the meal, 85 Euros for our drinks, 1 free shot, and a not so good meal, we will never do this again with this place. On a side note, we have been here several times on regular occasions. The side dishes are great. Their steak is very very good and we always love eating the same thing here. Worth a shot to try it once or twice.

Here, you'll find students congregating (remember this is a college town) in time off, or working diligently as they sip a fresh cuppa. They had some great selections and were willing to work with me to figure out some additions that would be great to have. The gluten-free kaiserschmarrn did not disappoint -- if you're unfamiliar with kaiserschmarrn, think scrambled pancakes with extra eggy goodness, a southern delicacy in these parts and not often served for breakfast, but more as an afternoon snack or as dessert. Over-all, a simple menu but a very nice respite from the hustle of downtown.

Both meat dishes were some of the best we have had in our three plus years in Germany. We normally reserve getting a Schäuferla/Schweinehaxe when we go to o Hessen or NRW, but this was by far the best crispy and flavorful skin and softest meat we have had in our three plus years adventuring in Germany.
