We were just spending two nights in this area to be able to explore Vienna for one day, and because…read moreit was a last-minute decision we were dealing with last-minute hotel reservation rates. This hotel was the best price for the listed amenities and location. It's an older building, though the suite bathrooms had been renovated, and in the light of day it looked beautiful despite what it lacked in comfort. First of all, there was somehow a miscommunication about them needing to make up the second bed for me to sleep in, and when my mom addressed it at checkout, the lady at the desk got very frustrated and defensive. Not sure how the miscommunication happened, but not very good customer service to respond that way after a misunderstanding. Because there weren't even pillows or a sheet for me to use on the sofa bed, I had to share the other bed with my parents. The other thing less ideal about this stay was that we needed to keep the windows open at night to let airflow through, but as the hotel was right next to a main road, we could hear cars loudly passing throughout the night. I also don't know if I should have reasonably expected screens on windows anywhere here, but this room didn't have any and there was a concern that small animals might enter from the balcony. We were also disappointed to find that the hotel bar was closed on a Friday night, when the hours were listed as closing an hour later. If the hotel doesn't have enough people on a Friday night in September to keep the bar open, I guess that's an indication of its popularity. I will say that the complimentary breakfast was the best I've had in any hotel, and the servers were very friendly in the dining area. I did also enjoy the views of the surrounding area, and the conscious eco-friendly choices they made for the suites. Fine spot to stay short-term if you're okay with using earplugs.

My friend and I spent a few days driving around Lower Austria and Burgenland at the beginning of…read morethis month. We spent one night at Hotel Sacher Baden after a day in Lower Austria. The hotel has been around since 1881, and it does have some historic charm. The room was a little basic, very traditional, and quite large. The room didn't seem to have A/C and we were a bit warm, but the room cooled down when we opened the windows overnight. Breakfast in the morning was simple but nice - it had quite a bit of variety. And service at the hotel was really nice - everyone was very friendly. (I left my iPad at the hotel and called the hotel - they were really great about it: they went back up to the room to get it for me and held it at the front desk until I could make it back to the hotel. I really appreciated it.) The hotel doesn't have much parking, but the lovely staff at the check in desk when we arrived let us know where we could park outside the hotel. The location isn't in town - just a short drive away - but the location of the hotel is wonderful - it has a view of castle ruins on the hill above across the street. This hotel has a lot of history and charm, but it was the service that put it over the top for me. I had a lovely stay.
