The staff was very accommodating, getting us in our room before noon. We found the cleaning staff friendly and thorough. The small bar was perfect for a late evening drink. We were happy with the location and near a subway station. Another great factor was discovering two very good restaurants right cross the street from the Leonardo Hotel! The location is not my favorite area, but there is easy access to restaurants and a few bars. The best thing about this hotel is the location - not because of the area, but as I arrived by bus and it is right next to the bus station that was perfect! Besides it only took af few minutes to walk to Messe Berlin! So this is perfect if you get by bus or to Tegel Airport, and if you are going to Messe Berlin. The staff was friendly... it was almost weird to get a "real" key instead of a Card :D - but I will definitely stay the again I am going to the Messe Berlin.

Simple, no frills - but the staff is relatively friendly - and some of them even speak English. It has covered parking, which is great if you have to go to the Berlin Fair Grounds, because parking is expensive and difficult to find. The rooms are quite cheap - with surcharges charged if it is fair time. Breakfast is served in the Ground floor Bistro, and at night there is not much going on around the hotel - you have to take the Tube into town. The next stop is about 10 minutes away by foot. There is WiFi only on certain floors. Make sure to sleep out the back - and not out the front to the Kaiserdamm, as the street is extremely loud - and the building was built in the seventies

Our flight arrived at 8:00 am and we took an $18 Euro taxi ride from Tegel Airport to arrive at our destination. We previously made plans to allow us to check-in early, so we were in our room by 11:00 am and asleep before noon! The hotel was beyond clean; it was spotless. The room was quiet, peacefully decorated, free from distractions, the bed was so comfortable I thought I was in my own bed. The room was also equipped with a refrigerator, an honors bar, a wide screen TV, writing desk and sitting area. A restaurant and wine bar is also part of the hotel and the staff are English speakers who are more than willing to accommodate any traveler's request. The price was a bargain at only $98 US and a beautiful continental breakfast for 18 Euro was served in our room the following morning. This particular Mercure hotel is located in Spandau which is in the northwestern area of Berlin, in a very safe and friendly neighborhood. Numerous restaurants are located within four or five blocks, as well as bakeries, liquor stores, markets and home goods retailers. The U-Bahn is right outside the hotel which makes traveling and connecting easy as pie!
