Schlossbräu
Great dinner at the old Abby. Even in the quite pedestrian zone of downtown Salzburg, the flowered nearly manicured courtyard with gardens and a fountain seemed miles away from the throngs of tourists on a Friday evening.
Service was quick and Helles beer and radler were cool and thirst quenching. Bread basket had some good choices and was included with the meals
Salads the Kids had was original with a great deal of fresh vegetables and a nice mild white dressing. After they were done, the gardens presented a nice distraction for the them to run with no shoes on and still not bother any other patrons.
Wife had a baked potato with turkey which was the only marginal dish we had. Nice look to it but flavor was just "ok".
I personally had the traditional German/Austrian dish of white sausage, sauerkraut, and potatoes. Same spin as a typical Bavarian sausage dish but simple and finished a little differently. Sauerkraut had ham and was sweet which I loved. Restaurant claimed that this was a "local" sausage made in the area which I would argue as it was soft and fresh.
Dessert was a shared dish of ape strudel with whipped cream. By far, he best one I've had since arriving in Germany. Sizable Apple chunks while maintaining a smooth consistency.
Service ended well and was reasonably priced for a spot in the heart of the city. €65 for five plates, with drinks, and the strudel.
Only issue was the three young folks smoking right next to our table but tough to get away from in any restaurant in Europe.
