The shiuttle uses small buses to shuttle people between the main airport and a large number of city hotels. It does so reasonably fast and comfortably, and even has on-board wifi. At EUR 16, it is a lot cheaper than a taxi, but also a lot more expensive than the train; in fact, I would recommend using them if you're not staying close to a train station, but to use the train (which stops in an underground station immediately under airport departures) if you are within five to ten minutes from a train station.

I made sure to ask what we needed to do and if they could take all 4 of us traveling together and to the same hotel. I was told it was not an issue and all we had to do once at the airport to hotel was to go to platform....# and they would have a bus there. OK. I also had to call since our flight was late due to Schipol airport having no fuel :/ and we had book our seats for 1:30 but we ended up there at 2:30pm. so we get to the platform and we wait...... wait...... bus/vans come and go and then I see a guy holding a clip board... so I go up to him and tell him we are late but we had 4 seats reserved. He then wrote it down and said ok. Nothing more was said. This was unexpected as I was told to nothing about this. Another van shows up and leaves w other ppl on it, some that had just gotten there a minute before....van after van goes by and we wait. I once again go ask this guy how this really works... and this is what he told me -it went something like this- "Since you are 4 passengers I have to get ppl going the same way but have to fill the bus full w their seats so until we get ppl going the same way that will get the van or bus as full as possible. Otherwise I dont think the company would be very happy just to send a few in a van, so you will have to wait. " I felt very awful because I was the one that picked this connexxion service and it was a screw up.... I apologized to the other travelers with me. I felt so bad..... It was a big turn off, first having to wait at the airport but that I knew could happen but this waiting for the bus for others going my way was new. Each time he would call out a hotel (Yelling the hotel name's was when you knew it was your turn) ppl got on but seemed like it was not ours... so when he would call out a hotel we would reply with "did you say... or did you mean...... and we would say our hotel name. In the end it took 10 minutes of just seeing ppl that just got there before us to go on their journey and we had to stay and wait..... Ten minutes is not a big deal and would have been so ok with it if only* it would have been explained and told to us. So I wonder why the whole "you must book a time" since it dont matter ..they go by their time. I would NEVER use this service again. We saved 25 euros by taking this bus but honestly I felt lied to and I would rent a private or a cab ride next time. It was by far the worse service (car or shuttle) that I have ever had in the world. Drivers were good tho, the first van we took I felt a bit WTF but the van back was nicer and much more comfy. HOWEVER they do advertise that they have WIFI on every bUs/shuttle but never managed to connect on #1 and on the second bus the other passenger asked about the WIFI and he was told that "the van does not have any" . So yeah.... unless I really was stuck I would have to use them again then yeah otherwise.... I would use any other service out there.

As of April 2026 they use the new EES system making international travel easier and faster. There are plenty of shops and restaurants in the airport which is a plus especially if you arrive early or have a long layover.

The layout of the…read moreairport is incredibly confusing: At pretty much any other modern airport, arriving international passengers are directed straight to immigration, but at Schiphol, they're set free to wander the terminal, shop at duty-free, have a meal, stop at the business class lounge -- whatever. It's chaotic. Then there's the gridlocked passport section itself, with biometric gates only for EU countries, so e-passports from the U.S., UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, etc., get lumped in with all the rest -- unlike at most airports. With only three windows open, it doesn't help that the officials are so darn chatty, either. The place looks rundown, with lots of strange noises akin to someone rolling giant bowling balls upstairs. The climate control is terrible, too. (That might be connected to the weird noises.) Schiphol actually makes Los Angeles International Airport seem not so shambolic -- that's how bad it is.
