I went with the ham option, which included the following: --Coffee - I upgraded to a cappuccino, and it was excellent --Orange juice - Seemed to be freshly squeezed, another plus! --Basket of pastries - Truly awful croissant and pain au chocolat. These were probably the worst pastries I've had since I moved to Brussels. They were dry, bready, and bland, and they would have done better if they'd excluded them completely or gotten pastries from the grocery store. --Yogurt with honey - fine --Ham - fine --Cheese - fine --Bread and butter - fine --Boiled Egg - Perfectly hard boiled. As good as a plain boiled egg can get. So all in all, the brunch consisted of an excessive amount of mediocre, pre-prepared foods that are merely assembled in the restaurant. One brunch plate was easily enough to serve two people. I saw some salads at other tables, and they were easily large enough to feed 3-4 people. I would definitely come back for coffee, but I certainly would not return for a meal here.

The sign outside advertising salad is what drew us into this little gem where you can make yourself a healthy and really tasty lunch plate out of the impressive amount of fresh handmade options. They had fresh soup, with fixings like croutons and cheese, and a nice variety of drinks, along with quiches and other goodies. Suitable for both gluten free, vegan, vegetarian and carnivorous options! This is a must for me when I'm in Brussels, as it's very fresh & super tasty at a perfect price.

Try to arrive around 12:00 to take advantage of the full array of 30 or so gorgeous, freshly prepared salads, and pay only about €5 for an "assiette de salades," or salad plate, and try 4-5 of them. Grilled eggplant with tomato, chickpeas and cucumbers, zucchini "spaghetti," "caviar" of artichoke hearts -- every option is delicious. I always root for the eateries with an eye-catching interior, soul and good, preferably healthy…read morefood behind it. But most importantly I root for a concept, a mission that makes it stand out. Now G. Spud has it all and it's impossible not to notice. To sum it up: Géraldine et Gaëtan (that what G. stands for) are living a dream of reinventing the potato (engl. for potato) or in their words: "make it's image more sexy" (pardon my poor translation into French) and provide the busy Brussels lunch crowd (location! location! location!). am told the place is very popular during the lunch time, you have to wait to get your fair share with a healthy and gluten free (sic!) options combined either with fish, meat or other vegetables. Neither of them exceeding €10 in addition to very generously sized portions. I tried the Tuna Spud and could barely finished it, although I was quite hungry. Now baked potato as I know it from Germany, is a huge bulb cut in the middle and topped with A LOT OF yogurt sauce and, if you are lucky, some salad and mushrooms. At G.Spud you not only get a nice compilation of fresh produce regional produce and funky dressings! It's also planed (so we were told) to introduce a different sort of potato every month, like local bars do with their choice of beers. To challenge our taste and expand our knowledge. Chapeau! While queuing up, pay attention at the way the spud is prepared and cut, even that is a part of the ultimate G.Spud experience. I really enjoyed every detail of the interior, especially how much attention was dedicated to the lighting and creating this breathy, sunlit, summery atmosphere. The team behind G.Spud (and behind the counter) is incredibly warm-hearted and welcoming, far-far above the Brussels standards. Now, although the ugly siblings Fries and Chips have totally ruined the potato family's reputation, the sexy Spud has all the chances of becoming the new sexy kid on the block. I wish the place would be opened after 5pm as I work pretty far away from Rue Jourdan. Well, it leaves me with Saturdays then. P.S. You can pick your Spud as a take-away, however the team is currently working on its packaging to find an ultimate transporting solution for their lovely spuds! Can't wait to be able order.
