This year will mark the 10th Anniversary of my Catheter Ablation. I celebrate my anniversary every year and am so thankful to Dr.Scheinman for correcting my A/V Nodal Re-entry Tachycardia. Dr. Scheinman performed the ablation on me twice and both times, with no success. I was only 26 at the time and this condition really dibilitated my life. At any moment, I would think that the tachycardia would occur and I would once again have to be rushed to the ER so they could stop it. I was afraid to go anywhere if a hospital was not near by. Living that way really limited my life and made me fearful.
Then 3 years after the first 2 attempts, I get a call out of the blue from Dr.Scheinman telling me that he had just performed an ablation on someone whose tachycardia issue was similar to mine and this time he was able to correct it. He urged me to try again because otherwise, as I get older, I would likely have to start taking medications to limit the episodes, (which I didn't want to start doing at that age), and he was pretty confident he would be able to get it this time. Only caveat was that because the area where he needed to ablate is so close to my natural pacemaker, if for some reason he gets too close and slips, I could risk damage to the natural pacemaker and he would have to fit me with an artificial one. When he told me that, I was hesitant to try it again, but with the encouragement from my then husband and family & friends, I decided I would give it one last try because I really could not live the way I had been living.
Well, obviously, the ablation worked and everyday I am thankful to Dr.Scheinman for not only correcting it, but for keeping me in mind, 3 years after the initial 2 attempts. I would think that he would have forgotten all about me after a few months, but 3 years goes by and he still remembered me...now that's a doctor that clearly loves what he does and is in medicine for all the right reasons - to make a difference in someone's life. He's surely made a difference in mine. I literally owe this man my life and I am happy to report, my life now, has only gotten so much bigger and better because of this man.
So please have no fear. If you are looking for a great Cardiologist, Dr.Scheinman is definitely one of the very best you'll ever find!!
You are in great hands.
Be well, live strong and be thankful.
