Now.. that last bit might sound a bit odd if I were speaking about a person, illegal even... but I'm not, I speak of KFC and my childhood memories of going there on a very rare occasion to get a snack box. I can remember it vividly, all hot and tasty and greasy and lovely....every time I have gone on a diet in my latter years I swear to myself I will indulge in just a small KFC visit once I have lost the excess blubber, I never did, until now. Yesterday I stopped into KFC Dundrum and the first thing you notice is how grotty the whole place is, really, the adult in me wanted to turn tail immediately, the child within however demanded we stay and have at least a few chips... if not a piece of chicken So, food duly ordered myself and son sat down to indulge... you know, once we have cleared off a table and worked around the clutter. In fairness they don't salt the chips which is a bonus for a parent stuffing chips into a cranky 2 year old in lieu of real food and they don't taste at all bad but the chicken is not what I remember ...or maybe it is and I've grown up a bit. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying fast food should be nutritious, it is what it is! However, KFC feels unclean from right when you walk in. The trays you are given your food on are not always in great shape, just today for example, mine was slimy. The food is unbelievably greasy, which I suppose is what you get for €2.99. Part of the restaurant is nearly always "closed for cleaning" at the times I visit. I'm not sure if that's just due to my visiting hours, but there never seems to be any cleaning done and I hate to say it, but the closed for cleaning areas seem just as clean if not cleaner than the areas open to customers. The staff leave you waiting for a very long time. This has happened on more than one occasion. I walked into a vacant restaurant, to find all the staff in the cooking area and nobody out front to take my order. I was waiting and waiting for somebody for over five minutes. I was just turning to walk out when my order was finally taken. I give this 2 stars because it fills a hole in your stomach... God knows with what..

Chicken was fried very nicely, the crust was crispy but not overly hard, inside was juicy and piping hot fiber, nicely seasoned with a bit of spices, went very well wtih the fresh veggies and sauce in the burger. Guessing the man working the room was the owner as he seemed invested and seemed to know some of the customers. All in all good food and we'd give it another go.
