My wife and I recently got married in Mapleton and chose Scarlet Oak as our wedding photographer. They covered both our ceremony and reception. One service I really liked was their video coverage of the ceremony, speeches, and dances. We decided to forgo a videographer, and part of the Scarlet Oak package we chose included a stationary recording of the most intimate parts of the wedding. This alone was worth the price of their service. The photos we received were great, and we enjoyed them very much. I also must applaud their professionalism when dealing with our guests. Gathering our friends and family for photos was like herding cats, but they kept a smile on their faces the entire time and treated everyone with respect. Our only real problem was that we felt we were taken away from the reception for far too long. During our pre-wedding call with Bonnie, we went over which guests we wanted portraits with. We assumed these could all be taken during cocktail hour (we chose not to do a first look, so no photos besides the bride and bridesmaids were taken before the ceremony). In hindsight, perhaps that was unrealistic, but I wish Bonnie would have advised us otherwise. She also asked us during the call when we wanted to do our golden hour portraits of just the two of us. This was a strange question for me because, at any wedding where I had been a groomsman, the bride and groom did not do this. However, my wife liked the idea, and Bonnie assured me it would only take 10-15 minutes. This was not the case at all. After all the dances and speeches, we were ready to enjoy the night with our guests, but the photographers told us this was the time to go take our portraits. It took almost an hour to get them done, and although they came out great, we were extremely dismayed to lose that time with our guests. We could literally hear songs we had specifically requested from the DJ playing on the dance floor, and we didn't even get to enjoy them. It really took the wind out of our sails, and I wish we could have had that time back. By the time we returned, they wanted us to cut the cake, and we did that as quickly as we could. After those photos were finished, my wife and I looked at each other and headed straight to the dance floor to make up for lost time. If I could go back, I would have handled the photos very differently. As previously mentioned, some of our friends and family did not make it easy for the crew to knock out photos quickly during cocktail hour, but I would have gathered our parents, siblings, and wedding party, gone to a secluded area away from the rest of the crowd, and knocked out all of the group portraits and our formals during cocktail hour. All other photos could have been taken casually at the reception. Would I recommend Scarlet Oak? Yes. They had great customer service, worked very hard at the event, and provided a great product. But be very clear with your expectations and what you want. We felt we clearly communicated our desire to enjoy our reception during the pre-wedding call, but it did not happen that way. Be a good communicator, make sure they are a good communicator, and this crew will be solid for your wedding. read more

We hired Scarlet Oak Studio for our engagement shoot and wedding. I can't say enough great things. They are professional, timely, talented, communicative, efficient and FUN! We loved working with Tanner to set up the package details and Elli as our main photographer. Our wedding was on top of a mountain in a blizzard with multiple lodges inside and outside for events. My husband and I got married in Jackson Hole last year (July 2022) in a 5 day wedding with constant activities, from rafting, to rodeo, to concerts, to welcome party, wedding, after party etc.- stamina was needed for a marathon week for sure. I, to this day, cannot get over how patient, energetic, genuine, lovely, flexible, professional, truly kind, savvy, and unbelievably skillful Aaron, Elli, Tanner and the WHOLE team were. I wasn't the lowest maintenance, to be honest, and they took every tweak to the plan with absolute grace. From the very first call with Tanner, I was blown away with how knowledgeable and streamlined (yet customizable) the packages were and the true value we were able to receive. Little did I know, that was only the beginning. Elli and Aaron shot our engagement photos, proactively scouting the most beautiful locations for us we didn't even know about as locals. Their uncanny ability to capture light in all settings, both still and candid shots, to come up on the fly with ideas, always helping me out with flyaway hairs or wardrobe malfunctions, laughing alongside us with our crazy photo ideas, all the while ensuring we captured every single type of photo and more. They drove all the way from Provo and had the best attitude ever! For the wedding, Aaron rode in a raft WITH our rowdy crew, just to capture all our videos; poor Elli drove all through the national park without service just to get drone photography of us going down the river... now that's above and beyond! The portraits with my family, the speed with which they cranked through our desired shot list at the wedding to protect our time with guests, the way they tactfully managed all family relationships and guest sensitivities, deftly captured the innocent joy of the little kids just as well as the landscape, candid dancing moments, speeches, aisle, etc.- I truly can't believe this level of service, not to mention the best attitude in the world. We hired Scarlet Oak for videography of our wedding and could not be happier with the quality of the videos they provided. We always knew we wanted to at least record the ceremony but we had some apprehension about getting it all done professionally and looking back at it. We are sooo thankful that we decided to get it done. We did extensive research and ended up deciding to work with scarlet oak for the videography and that was one of the best choices we've ever made. Their team is incredibly relatable and professional. They are a blast to work with and do an amazing job at really capturing the day for you. The videos are about you and they are great about making sure things are natural and organic. They also have great addons like drones, 4k footage, doc edits (which we highly recommend) and zoom live streaming. We had a fairly small destination wedding and the zoom live stream really helped us include the family and friends that we originally couldn't. Scarlet Oak was rock solid and we didn't have to worry about them at all. They were able to deliver our videos within the timeframe they committed to. They are completely upfront about everything, expectations etc. Overall if you're looking for a wonderful group of people that are able to deliver amazing results these guys are who you should hire.
