Absolutely Scarabee gets the highest rating from me. My sister and I visited our grandmother in Giessen for a month or more every year in the 70s and 80s and went to Scarabee all the time There was no bar like this in America that we knew about. Scarabee was always totally laid-back and cool and dark and had such a cool vibe. I have so many memories from being there and we met so many people there. I will never forget scarabee and how it looked and how the manager looked and so many of the friends that I met there. Every year we would go back to Giessen and I was always worried that scarabee wouldn't be the same -that perhaps it had closed or changed but every single year it was unchanged and fantastic. I was a american depentant living in Giessen from July 73 to 75 .We hung out here almost everyweekend, it was a great place to party,great setting.I was down there the night the police ( american and german ) gave everybody a ride to the station,that was kind of scary.i will always remenber this place and the many German friends we had thieir.
