I am conflicted about giving Scandic Europa 4 stars, I feel like I want to give 3,5 but at the same time this is a 4star hotel and it does live up to the standard!
My friends and I pre-booked a room for three, two singles and a pullout couch. We were generally happy with the room although the "view to the backyard" was more like the view to the roof/mall next door. However what we really missed in the room was a refrigerator, a coffee maker and a pamphlet or something with more info on the hotel. On our way out of the hotel we discovered the ice-machine kind of hidden by the elevator which would of been nice to know were was located before we left. (Obviously we used the stairs mor than the elevator).
The included breakfast buffet was surprisingly good. I am normally not a big fan of hotel breakfasts but at Scandic Europa they have a wide selection of bread, topping, and warm dishes. It all look and taste fresh! Breakfast on weekdays is from 7-10, breakfast on weekends is from 8-11!
Apparently the hotel bar HAK is a popular place for an after work drink on Fridays, and the hotel has a gym, pool and sauna which we didn't have time to try unfortunately.
Scandic Hotel has free wifi coverage all over the hotel. It was pretty fast and we never had any trouble connecting which makes this a good spot for people who might need to get some work done wirelessly while visiting.
The hotel is right across from the train station, which is super convenient, and they have parking available at the mall Nordstadstorget. At the parking garage you get a ticket when you enter and you get a new ticket at the hotel which you use when you leave. You pay 150SVK per night.
Over all we had a great stay at Scandic Europa, super easy access to the city and great shopping opportunities close by. read more
