It was clear from the outset that they had not done their homework, as they fumbled basic questions and failed to present crucial evidence to support my case. To my disbelief, their poor representation led the judge to dismiss the case (you can look it up in the public records for the City of Denton), despite the tenant's clear violation of our rental agreement. The lack of professionalism and competence from both attorneys was astonishing. I expected to work with experienced professionals who would fight for my rights as a landlord, but instead, I was met with a careless and disorganized defense that ended up costing me time, money, and a resolution to the situation. The only reason I'm giving them a two star review is because they were quick to issue the refund of the retainer fee and the consult fee, thus admitting their error. I don't think the specifics matter so much as the fact that he does not care about confidentiality agreements. The attorney should be bound to a higher level of Responsibility and confidentiality because of their licensing. Attorney Cartwright sees no issue publishing private information to third parties after a confidential settlement agreement. So if you thought your business would remain private, you're in for a shock when he in fact will publish your business to third parties. If you're the kind of person who wants the opposing side to be treated with dignity and respect, even though they are the opposing side, you should know that this is the type of attorney who will sling as much mud as he can in order to get the result he wants. He does not care about breaking or bending the law.
