I typically don't buy jewelry but the glass display and great lighting made me take another look. After pulling out six different necklaces I realized that not one was a find and at full retail price. I did pick up a nifty pair of salt and pepper shakers that they missed as worth more. I love thrifting, but this store is not great. There prices are higher then other thrift stores. They put sticker price tags on their books, which ruins them, and sometimes makes it hard when looking for information on the covers. The staff is not very friendly and they seem to spend a lot of time standing around and gossiping. Also, why do they charge for a bag? I can go to the youth ranch next door and spend less money, find better items, and get a bag for free. read more

I've been a frequent customer here for years cause I live nearby and I've also donated items nearly every time I go as well. Over the past few years, I've noticed that they've upped their pricing pretty outrageously which has bothered me for a long time, having to pass on things I could use because it's too expensive... Regardless, I've continued to check in from time to time to see what's new on the off chance something is reasonably priced. Today, that stops for good. Multiple things I usually go for are even higher now -- VHS movies has had a 33% increase apparently since my last visit, which is ridiculous. I came across a pair of beat up black sweats a few weeks ago, with no waistband label mind you, for $34.99! I asked someone who worked there who agreed that it seemed like a mistake, so she went to ask a manager. When she came back, she informed me that they were priced that way "because they're lululemon". Now I don't know diddly-squat about whatever that brand is, but I don't care! They were really worn... grunge level wear and that's why they appealed to me (I needed comfy sweats for home) who cares about brand when a) there's not even a label on them to know for sure and b) as Ignacio says -- "sometimes you wear stretchy pants, IN YOUR ROOM" like, COME ON!! I'm not trying to impress my dogs with bougie PJs! Another day ---Really beat up & filthy converse were $18.99. Vans in similar condition were $24.99 with missing shoe laces, another pair I recall from a couple months back were $45.99 in the men's section. What is that, like 75% of what new ones cost?! Then today, I came across these two pairs of Docs at $60 & $65?! Hell no, I find better deals on FB Marketplace for used Docs. I'm not expecting garage sale prices here but this is straight up robbery in our sh*t economy. This Fairview store's Manager needs to chill and FYI, this company's CEO had a 10.8 million dollar salary last year, from what I've read. What a piece of --for a for-profit company to charge these prices for DONATED ITEMS, $$ only going charity if required to. Shameful!! Take note, Savers pricers --- this is a Thrift store. Act like it. Everyone sees what you're doing (as noted in my photo) We also know there are plenty of other Idaho-based thrift stores where we DON'T get ripped off and our $ actually makes a difference in our community. Sadly, Savers is seems extremely unaffordable considering they receive items for free. The most recent time I was in here I was shocked that deeply used and worn t-shirts were $6/$7+ dollars. Deeply used jackets and blazers $20/$25+. And while yes, this is lower than buying new, you can find a new, unworn t-shirt for $8/$9. New coats or blazers $30 at most sales, new. I stopped coming to Savers because the prices rising for free, used items was upsetting. Well if I was upset the last time, imagine this most recent visit, I couldn't stop telling my mom how much the prices were since the last time I was in, it consumed me :). I am not a grumpy person and often look to the positives but the pricing here has gotten way too out of hand! Suggestion Savers: sell all your donated items for next to nothing and move more items faster! Isn't it more valuable to sell 3, $3.00 items than 1, $7.00 item? Asking for a friend. And good lucky finding a sale tag. It is like finding a unicorn on a rainbow. It probably won't happen. But never say never :) I will say, the people working at the checkout (including self checkout!) and people collecting donations are always fantastic and interactive. Waited for probably 5 minutes to donate, while some one was getting help loading a table in the donate line. No biggie. The guy that loaded it in his car was about to leave, then one of his buddies that working there got his attention. So instead of moving his car so me and the vehicle waiting behind me could donate our stuff, he proceeded to exit , closing the door of his car and have what looks like a buddy type conversation. So now I am starting to get pissed because I took My Precious Time to try to do a good thing and donate to Savers so they can resale it for 100% profit. I waited for them to chat for about a minute and then decided maybe one of the other thift stores in the area might Appreciate My Precious Time and not waste it. I donated several items here. The employee took the first box of items and just dropped it internationally. I was shocked and told him to be careful since he was breaking things. He said, "It's fine." I responded that it was not 'fine' and that I did not bring donations just for them to be broken and trashed. Congratulations Boise Savers you are the new King! The prices at this store are absurd. I have been all over the west coast thrifting and the prices blew me away. Just three days earlier I went to a Savers nearby me in Vacaville,Ca the prices were a 1/3 of the prices at this location. Do better, you obtain your items for free! Whether you are on the hunt for Knick Knacks or want to save some bucks on a pair of gently worn jeans, Savers is an one stop shop but can't in mind the following: 1. Get there with plenty of time to look around. Don't go before closing as they will not let you in. Several times we have been there 10 mins before closing and were denied entry. 2. Know your tags. Certain colored tags mean certain type of discounts 3. Don't forget to check the glass case near the front for " higher priced" items On our latest trip, we were not popping tags but rather hunting for VHS tapes and Vinyl records. Yeah. That's right Vinyl records. You heard correctly. There's a bin that has about 100 or so records ranging from Johnny Mathis to Barbara Streisand to Lawrence Welk and anything in between. Sometimes the outside covers are dusty, dirty, but most are in good conditions. The records themselves maybe scratched or warped so it's important to check before your pay and check out. Like any hunt, sometimes you win big game prizes and other times, you come back empty-handed. The VHS tapes is the same type of hunt but if you happen to know what you're looking for and it's resell value, you've got a good investment. Bring ten bucks and stop by Savers but give yourself some time to check out all the potential treasures that have been discarded and maybe just maybe you'll find a diamond that just needs some love and polish read more

Way over priced. WHATS UP WITH THRIFT STORES BEING OVER PRICED?! If I want to pay that much for clothing I would go to Burlington or TJ Maxx or Ross etc and get NEW clothes. Not used marked at 25$ +. It's getting frustrating that thrift stores keep jacking up their prices. Anyways, a few things about this store... some of the staff was very rude. But there was one or two that was kind. They have NO fitting room. Excuse: Covid. Blah. rme. But this place was actually kept clean. Or the clothes and other items were straighted up and organized. Thank you! With the clothes being organized it made it so much easier to look through. I didn't feel like I had to "dig." There are a lot of options. It's a pretty big thrift store. I always forget how good Savers is! My local thrift stores have let me down. St.Vincent de Paul on State Street in Boise used to be great and it's gotten progressively worse over the past few years. I went in there 2 days ago and it was such a complete disgusting mess that I couldn't stay let alone hunt! UGH. So, I went to Savers today to see if I could score a few specific things and huzzah! 3 fabulous designer sweaters for peanuts and a new large like new sautee pan with a lid. I'm a happy hunter. Went to Savers for the last time yesterday. Very dissatisfied with the lack of Service. My husband I made a stop to pick up some items for his upcoming surgery. We found the prices to be out of line for many of the used clothing items. But the kicker for us was the bad attitudes and lack of customer service that we experienced. When we got into line there was a young man checking out a lady, when she left, we stepped up to the check out and we were told we had to use the self-checkout. My husband replied we don't work there and another male employee said he would help us at the self-check out. He then proceeded to act like we were stupid, showing us the bar-code, and how to scan it. My husband again told him we don't work there. The male employee then said either finish checking out ourselves or he would cancel out the order. Since we needed the items for my husbands upcoming surgery we chose to finish scanning the items, but based on the male employees attitude we Won't be back. I will spend my money at Idaho Youth Ranch or Deseret Industries before I spend another dime at this poorly run business. Oh and another thing, as this is going on, I look over at two very senior ladies who are struggling to check themselves out. Neither employee standing around the front of the store showed any concern for either customer or offered any help whatsoever, NO customer service, no apparent concern. read more

EXPENSIVE... HORRIBLE RETURN POLICY I used to like this store, but prices went up the roof and when you think about it it's donated stuff that they pay nothing for. Return policy you can only exchange this AT THE SAME TIME you are purchasing something else they don't give you credit you either take it at that time or you are fucked because you WILL lose your money... and if you lose your receipt they only give you half of the price of the item, you lose the other half of your money that I am pretty sure WE ALL WORK SO HARD TO GET IT... and you have to do it at the time of the "return" (which they most likely will re-sell for the full price) and they don't even let you try things on so if it doesn't fit then you are fucked again. Prices can go up to $50 FOR DONATED THINGS. So disappointing. Also, they only give 8% of their profits to charity and they still make everything SUPER MEGA EXPENSIVE. read more

Savers is my go-to thrift shop in Boise. The selection is amazing, the prices are pitch perfect, the service is accommodating, and--wonder of wonders--they have fitting rooms. Because, even though this vintage cable knit cardigan's price tag is a mere $3.99...I'd still the option to see how it looks on. To top off all that fabulousness, they rock an amazing selection of Halloween costumes--both new and used stock. And, if you don't find what you are looking for amongst the myriad of costumes they carry around All Hallow's Eve? You can likely put something together with their amazing stock of clothing. Ie: I recently went seeking Halloween costumes. The first was a Joker costume for a 13 year old boy. After coming up empty in their Halloween section (well, that's not precisely true--they actually had a full blown Joker costume, but it utilized a mask and he didn't like it). We were able to find purple pants, a purple button up, a green bow tie, bright orange jacket, and, in their new stock section, a purple hat. All put together with green sprayed hair (which they also carry) and Joker makeup--he looked astounding. And very Joker like. The mister and I were set on dressing as Edgar Allen Poe (him) and The Raven (me). He was able to find the perfect tweed jacket to top off his mustachioed buttoned up morose Poe look and I found black feathers aplenty (wings, mask) as well as a jet black wig. The pièce de résistance? Amongst their new Halloween stock, I found some black feathered false eyelashes. Poe's Raven with blonde lashes? Nevermore. Get to it! read more

I am a local artist and a former loyal customer at the Meridian Savers and loved your things. I often used them in my art, but your prices have SKYROCKETED in the last month to triple the price they use to be or SHOULD BE. It is no longer a thrift store but priced at prices new items would be sold for at discount stores! I wanted to buy a garden dragonfly. It still had dirt and rust on it and it was priced at $29.99. In the past at your store and any other thrift store this may have been priced for $10 MAX. I spent an average of $100 every time I came in and will now be taking my business elsewhere until your prices come down again. I wrote to the corporate office telling them that they don't realize how many of their regular loyal customers they are losing and I assume it will fall on deaf ears! Those people are not in the same income bracket as the people that shop at their stores or they would not have changed their prices to be so high. It's a shame that the people that need it the most are now priced out and unable to shop at Savers. I can still afford to shop there I am not one of those people that depend on Savers for my family but I refuse to shop there now because of the price changes and what you have done to the people that did depend on your store for help. That was all I heard people talking about aisle after aisle when there last weekend...about how shocked and disappointed everyone was at the increases. I think corporate has NO idea of what they have done with this policy. They need to read their reviews because 90% of them online are negative and about the price increases. I will start this review off by saying I found THE coolest pair of clogs ($12) here, as well as the raddest high waisted floral pants ($11) you ever did see. I'll also add that I have worn both of these items multiple times since I bought them a little over a week ago. WIN. I came here looking for new kitchen chairs. On my way to the furniture section in the back of the store I got distracted by their kitchen utensils, pondered buying a dough roller for $1.50 (decided not to), then stopped and looked through their high waisted pants (this is when I found the dreamy flower trousers), sweaters (no luck here), and shoes (cue the cool Clarks I found), then alas, I made it to the furniture. While I had some luck with clothes and shoes, the furniture section of the store gave me none. Sure, they had kitchen chairs for $4...but there was also food dried onto them. Everything in this section was a pass for me. Like all thrift stores, Savers requires a little bit of digging before you find those nuggets of gold. Silly as it may be, the food on the chairs in the furniture section put me off. A little thing like cleaning up the items that come in before they are put on the floor would go a long way in enhancing the cleanliness/experience of shopping at this store. read more

Savers has always been pricey but I was in need of Jeans and needed to go to a place with a variety of brands to figure out my current size. Savers has done away with their fitting rooms so it was extremely complicated , having to buy jeans I couldn't try on and being faced with having to return the ones that didn't work. They don't offer returns, or account store credit- when you return items you have to be ready to get more items that very day. The machines have all turned to self service and mine broke several times through my purchase, the machine eating $150 of mine and not showing it on the screen. There were also several other individuals on the self check out that had broken machines that were freezing and not working. For your average items, this is an okay place to shop if you want to pay more than a used item it worth. For clothes shopping I would recommend going elsewhere as the process is way too complicated now that there's no fitting rooms and their return policy is not helpful with clothing items. Please return your fitting rooms and make the shopping experience easier on your customers and your employees. I can't imagine the returns that have gone up since implementing these new changes. read more

I was at a thrift shop on Fairview Avenue the other day that was in the same complex as a savers store. This particular thrift store I was at, is run by an organization that is non-prophet and supports our veterans. Let me just reiterate that for the learning impaired; VETERANS. I was standing out in back of the complex speaking with a couple gentleman and noticed down the alley there was a huge stack of items along with several large dumpsters. When I asked one of the gentleman what that was about he responded that that was savers thrift shop and that was the donation area. In the 10 minutes I was there, I must must have counted 25 cars pulling up, stopping and dropping off several items including bags of what I assumed were clothing. I also counted the amount of vehicles that pulled up to the store I was at: THREE. . I understand Savers to be a for-profit organization. I've seen stupid people in my life and plenty of them but this takes the cake. Apparently Stupidity runs so abundant in them, they feel the need to supplement the pocketbooks of Saver's executives and ignore the fact their Americans living in a FREE COUNTRY THANKS TO OUR VETERANS. I really wish I would have seen this 25 years ago. I would have NEVER joined the Marines and gone to The Gulf. Thanks stupid people!!!!! read more

This is very disappointing. A second hand store that has retail prices. I found 3 shirts at Savers that I found at ROSS (Under Armour) or Walmart (Joe Boxer) and Kohl's (Tek Gear) for less! Same Brand! Unbelievable! Who prices this stuff? Just because it's name brand it's still used. Even if it isn't it's still used. Seems the community supports you by donating to you but you do not support the community with these ridiculous prices. You are the only 2nd hand store who has overpriced 2nd hand goods. The pros: Huge Selection EXTREMELY well organized Items are in good condition Get 20% coupon when you make a bag/box donation The Cons: Most items were more pricey than I am accustomed to seeing If I am in the area again I would probably stop by, but as I had to make a special trip out there I found myself kind of wanting, especially in the price department -hence my 3 star rating. ***Important to note, they seem to have special price days when certain departments have a percentage off. They were advertising a Labor Day sale for 50% almost everything in the store. A sale like this would definitely make it more affordable. read more

Savers has been a staple thrift store for every state I have lived in and I was happy to find them in Boise as well. Like most other Savers, this one is huge with a large selection and that unique "Savers Smell". We went here looking for some ugly Christmas sweaters and found quite a lot. There are old lady clothes a plenty and some for the kids as well. They were a bit more pricey than other thrift stores in the area... but they also had a larger selection. The one thing that I did like (and was pleasantly surprised about) was that the staff was overwhelmingly helpful. I was shocked that it was easy to find assistance and *gasp* they were pleasant! Perhaps I am a bit used to the Savers in larger cities where they sort of ignore you and do your thing... but when I stated what we were looking for the girl behind the front register was happy to help. All in all, it was a good experience. Be prepared to spend a bit more... but also know you'll more than likely find that you are there for... and then some! read more

Ross, TJ Max, Burlington coat factory are brand new clothing and are either the same price as Savers or Savers is priced higher for used clothing or shoes. WHY IS SAVERS prices on Men's name brand USED CLOTHING either the exact price or more EXPENSIVE. I find plenty of new clothing at Walmart with the same price, same exact brand and style at Savers ise. Savers needs to be ashamed of itself. Savers used to be my favorite thrift store and I would go in weekly. Since the most recent change in management and all the changes implemented in the store, frankly, the store sucks. There is no incentive for me to shop there anymore since the prices have been raised WAY above where they should be for a USED store and the donation punch cards have changed so that you have to completely fill up the card to use the 30%.
