Way too many people are not giving this store enough credit. If you've lived in the neighborhood long enough, you know that the family that owns it and also the people who work there are essentially community staples, and I've earned everything that they have. I hardly ever go to Savemore anymore, primarily because like most people note, you save less but that shouldn't be any reason not to shop there. The prices are a bit high, but it's understandable because it's a local business. Even more, they have to make a profit otherwise they could be pushed out like so many other failed businesses in the area and our state in general. What stands out to me is that they truly are a neighborhood grocery store that has practically everything a community could want. The food that they sell here, you can get at most grocery stores. The atmosphere is also always active and respectful. It's easy to get to, they're open until pretty late, the staff is friendly, and despite being broken into numerous times over the years, have been robbed that gun point years back, not once have they ever been phased nor put into a corner to where they would actually leave the neighborhood. I can never see the neighborhood without this place. 4/5 read more

This is under new management and the listed website is for the old owners of the company. They are still taking orders so stay very far away from this place until they actually have a phone number and own their own website. read more

Great name. I'll "Save More" because I won't be buying from here. I called midway through construction of a multi-bottle order of whiskey. Was ordering via Drizly. With two of the four or five bottles added in preparation for the upcoming holidays and a neighborhood tasting, I called, and was transferred to someone who didn't want to work. I guess they're too successful. I asked which Act and Scene (batch) they carried for High Whiskey's A Midwinter Night's Dram. He said it was from last year only after following up on his original lazy answer. "Last year" doesn't really tell me which Scene. I can guess which Act. I'd probably be open to it, but at least tell me if I care enough to call. I've included a picture of a label in this review to show how easy it is to tell. And I politely mentioned that. He said he understood that, but the bottle wasn't near him at the moment. Why have a phone? Maybe he was too busy to make a quick few hundred bucks, but though I was very polite, he couldn't be bothered. So that's that. I'll mirror him and say "Why bother?" My neighbors and friends, like others, buy based on word of mouth the things we like or want to try. We're always happy to find new sources, which is where this store could distinguish itself. Within reason, it isn't about the money, it's about the selection. For me, every transaction is clean and quick, and I'll buy based on a merchant's recommendation. This is literally a 5 minute walk and want nothing else than 5 stars for this group but it just sucks. I've tried for months (Aug-Oct 2023) and it is just disappointing every time. Overpriced ($2.50 for a can of expired black beans!), questionable produce, a constant stack of garbage at the front door, smells, and I shit you not, always a hoard of people congregating inside the entrance of the shop so you have to weasel your way between them to get in and out. Listen, I get it. Family run, local, blah blah. The dad and his friends like to hangout at the door and bullshit while the entitled, snotty kids on their cell phone run the cashier. It makes for such a shit place to visit and shop. Drove by yesterday 10/29 and there was a mountain of trash to the right of the entrance. This is such a great neighborhood and don't understand why these people can't see their potential and step up. Although the most convenient location ever, I will not go here unless I'm in dire straits. I can say I've really tried here but it is just not worth the cost or the bullshit to support this local business. I'll go to Rockys or Scary Safeway and that is really saying something. read more

I have given this place a ton of business during Covid (and now after). Sad they took away the yummy sandwiches BUT! The new beer cooler has a great selection! I always order the same thing and the owner always keeps a cold bottle for me on hand. One time I ordered (delivery) and he left a note for me apologizing the wine wasn't cold. He's so sweet. Love the fresh veggie selection, great coffee choices and you can pick up treats from other local business. I always go there to pick up cookies from a local Berkeley business to take home to my Mom. If there is something by chance they don't have they will order it! Love this store and I never go to Safeway anymore. Highly recommended! Ps. DELIVERY ONLY I have never had the opportunity to physically stop by and go into this location so this is just based on my online experience WHICH has been amazing! There are times when im too lazy or already have consumed one to get in the car and pick up alcohol thats when this amazing Market comes into play! Through Drizzly you can order all different kinds of alcohol from different areas around you. I ALWAYS make sure to have my choices come from Savemore. They always have all the wines I am looking for and even more. Their delivery is always early and the driver is always very nice. **DELI IS CLOSED** Bring back the Deli, m'kay? They recently remodeled and closed the Deli and I'm sad because they made delicious sandwiches. I was super disappointed to walk in and see a giant wall of beverages instead of the deli area. I'm hoping it's just temporary and that the deli is coming back in another part of the store, but I was in a hurry so didn't stop to ask. Savemore has a great Selection of items when you need something from the neighborhood store. Incredibly nice folks who run the place - I appreciate them a lot. I don't do all my shopping there, of course.. but it's super convenient when you forgot limes or need a bottle of wine or one roll of toilet paper, etc. read more

I was a bit taken aback when I entered this store. From the reviews I was expecting a neighborhood gourmet market with sandwiches, groceries and a nice liquor selection. It's just another smelly (really smelly, like cheap booze & cigarettes) liquor store. Yuk! read more

Save More----my ass! Their prices are at least a third to a half times pricier than the average convenience store. They have a captive audience I guess. I only go there when I really need something and because they supposedly are open earlier and later than the supermarket. A highly INCONVENIENT Convenience Store says that they open at 7 AM, and when I get there at 7:15, there are absolutely no signs of life. read more

FIRST AND FOREMOST: You should know that nobody around here calls it "Savemore." Locals say, "Pick that up from Omar" or "I bet Omar has that" or "What's going on at Omar's?" Because Omar, the proprietor, is as much a friend and integral part of the neighborhood as a shopkeeper. THAT SAID: He -- in fact his entire extended family that works there -- knows our names and what we like. Seriously. They know what kind of tea I prefer. Which pasta we buy. How I like bagels cut. My favorite juice. They take care of us. AND SERIOUSLY: Wait until you see the selection of ... everything. Gourmet to gluten free. I think the stock of fancy chocolate must be unrivaled in the Bay Area. BETTER STILL: Prices are relatively competitive. SO: If whether you just want to pick up whatever it is you need or wonder what's going on in Glenview, stop in. I'll probably see you there. read more

I have driven past this place for years and today finally went in. I have no idea how they pack so much into this place. Nice little deli on the side with some grab and go offerings. I found everything I needed, including a favorite cheddar I did not think they would have, and was out the door in no time. Also impressive was the selection of liquors, I had no idea, and what a great option for a refill so close to home. read more

Love this place! I stop by frequently to pick up their fresh acme bread. They are a combo of a corner store and gourmet mini mart. They have a wide selection so it's great when I'm missing an ingredient like green onions or oat milk or when I feel like eating junk food like gummies and chips. Super nice and friendly folks, it's family owned. read more

So rude. They yelled at me without a mask on when I asked to return something. Horrible. Check the prices before leaving too. Tuna is $15 a can and a normally $2 bag of chips is $8, but biggest complaint is them being jerks. read more

Savemore is more than a convenience store. there isn't another grocery store close by. it's an one hour drive round trip (including parking, shopping) in any direction. the deli uses boar's head meat. sammies are $8ish peet's coffee (2,m) is better than next door's... -coffee blend changes daily. read more

This is your quintessential local corner market that everyone loves. Key ingredients: - Wonderful and super friendly family-run business. They manage and operate the store and are so welcoming to regulars - Open EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR (that's right, Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years, the works) until 11pm - They have practically everything. I've been amazed, but even when I look for the most obscure things, they've got it (such as miso, challah, organic fruit and vegetables, Boddingtons, etc). The one time they didn't have something I was looking for (a specific brand of frozen fish sticks that my son likes), they offered to start stocking it! - It's a grocery story, drugstore (no pharmacy), liquor store, sandwich shop and coffee shop all in one. Basically the best corner store you could think up. I wish this family success. read more

I work construction I had a job in the neighborhood so I went to this place for some sandwiches I couldn't get anybody to take my order and the staff is rude I won't come back I rather not eat and not spend my money here . Had the turkey club, I loved the sourdough roll they used. The youngster made my sandwhich and it was one of the best sandwhiches I've had in a while..such a flavorful well composed sandwhich (amazing balance of meat, cheese, vegis, bread) by such a young lad; he's going to be an excellant cook/chef if he pursues it. The sandwhich exceeded my expectations, I loved the guac or avocado, the vegis were really tasty and complimentary. read more

Many of the cashier staff are rude and spend more time talking to each other than they do keeping the line moving. I have encountered a cashier (I believe her name is Nina. Something with a N) at this location several times that is quite possibly the nastiest, most rude customer service representative that I have interacted with in a very long time. Today was no different. Super Bowl Sunday, I went to self check out to find her (Nina?) cradling the paper bags to her chest with both hands, while speaking to us customers like she was the Warden in a prison. "If you need a bag, I have the bags. They are 25 cents. They are not free. Select the option on the screen and I will give you a bag." She repeated these "instructions" several times in a tone that was rude, belittling, and clearly irritable. Her face and body language matched her tone. Unfortunately, someone missed a step and she had to assist them with paying for a bag. To her displeasure, she made her announcements again and included the parting message, "the bags are not free. That is why I said you have to select on the screen. I have made myself very clear." I quickly grabbed my items and left the store because wtf had I just experienced?? This lady is beyond inappropriate. She is angry and hates her job, and seemingly hates us for shopping at this particular location. To Regional Leadership, I challenge you to review the film from Super Bowl Sunday at around 4:20 PM for a front row seat to Nina's negativity and disrespect of your paying customers.

We were in town for a couple of days and needed lunch later that day without having time to go out. We looked at their inhouse prepackaged refrigerated meals and picked out some eggplant parmesan and went to the prepared food table and took home a half a quart of butternut squash soup. Lunch was warm and filling on a nice chilly day. I was happily surprised that the eggplant parmesan came out so well. It was nicely breaded and wasn't soggy and was very flavorful and not mushy. It was just like a restaurant, other then we had to heat it up ourselves in our toaster oven. The dishes come in tin containers. This is not a place I can shop in regularly, but when I can it's a treat.

Almost everything is organic, and the price reflects that; a regular 15oz can of tomato sauce was $4. Besides that, it seems like a safe and convenient place to shop with their wide selections. But there's a reason for my continued patronage at this store: it slashes my grocery budget by at least 50 percent, if not more. It makes a big difference during these inflationary times. I used to stick with packaged goods, but in more recent years I've also been getting as much produce as possible at this GO. It's quite a bit less than at the other grocery store I often frequent, a family-run business in the Dimond district. It's not hard to find quality produce here, and they have a respectable amount of organics. The one thing that keeps me from giving this store a full five stars is the fact that they allow signature gatherers to set up shop by the front door, and these people thrust their their damn clipboards and pens in your face when you try to walk in. Today, when I politely declined to fork over my signature, the woman told me, "You should try to give a hoot about this," which was quite annoying. I'm not going to put my signature on something I haven't researched beforehand. These things are not always what they seem to be. In any case, I go to Grocery Outlet to do my shopping, not to debate ballot initiatives with people I do not know, and certainly not to be shamed by them when I don't give them what they want. I really, really wish the GO would not allow these signature gatherers to harass their customers, who are not there to engage in political discussions. In fact, I wish they wouldn't allow these people on the property AT ALL.

The checkout lines generally have no more than two or three people in them, with the exception of the express lane. It generally takes me about 3 to 5 minutes of waiting in line to get to a cashier. This might increase on a busy Saturday or Sunday afternoon. What are the best parts of this Trader Joe's, is that they always have somebody giving out samples. Love that!
