The chair had been the victim of generations of kids who abused it as kids do. The wood was dry and split. A chunk of the carved back had fallen off and amazingly we managed to hang onto it. Mark did not disappoint. He disassembled the chair, meticulously stripped the remnants of the old finish, sanded & reattached the broken piece, filled old holes with a mixture of wood and filler, repaired all the split areas & filled in the tack holes from the previous upholstery, which will allow us to have the chair reupholstered. Mark kept me informed throughout the process, sharing pictures & confirming my choices for finishing. The chair is beautifully restored, the wood looks amazing and hopefully will be enjoyed & probably abused by the next few generations of our family. Their work was not only excellent, but quick compared to other restoration businesses I have dealt with in the past. Not to mention at a much more reasonable price. They did not have a lot to work with to start. I collected all of the severely shattered pieces and small chips along with a 1/4 of the original plate which was still intact. Fortunately, I had some old photos of the plate from before it broke which helped them understand how it looked before. I live in LA and it was worth the drive to Santa Ana. I could not be more pleased with the end result. Highly recommend this business.

FABULOUS! My husband and I have been collecting original movie posters and lobby cards for almost…read more fifty years. More than 35 years ago, my husband acquired an original lobby card (actually, the best card) from THE WIZARD OF OZ; just about my favorite film of all time. The only problem is that the previous owner decided to repair a couple of tears with scotch tape! Needless to say, we had two yellow stains on the card and it looked horrible. We lived in New York, and the local paper restorer told us the only way to fix it would be to 'cut out' the tape stains, replace the missing pieces with a blank canvas and then restore the artwork. We didn't want to do that; we just did not want to have a piece from this fabulous lobby card permanently removed. Then, we moved to California and I brought the card to Mario at Lumiere Poster Restoration. Mario told us he could get most of the tape stain off the card and then do some minor restoration and bring the card back to its original brilliance. Well, a couple months later, we went down to pick up the restored lobby card, and it looks nothing short of terrific! Mario did an absolutely wonderful job. Take a look at the 'before' and 'after' photographs (click on the photos to see the ENTIRE image). Immediately, I put the card in a frame and found a place to display it in my home. Mario does remarkable work.
