We attend the Gladys Knight concert. She was sick, hence a no-show. No announcement prior to the concert by email. No notice to the audience before the concert in the auditorium. Tonight, we went to the music of Queen. It was just plain bad. To start, it was too loud. The sound equipment couldn't handle the volume. The output was overmodulated and distorted. I couldn't understand the singer and the electronic instruments sounded like mud. I'm sure the volume of the sound was well past OSHA limits. When we left early the staff mentioned there were similar complaints about the same concert the night before. What has happened?

Inside it felt cold to me so I advise to bring a jacket if you get cold easily. The bathroom was very clean especially with how many people were at the concert. This was my first time recording outside of my own home studio, let alone with another person, so I had a LOT of learning to do. Dick not only was patient as I figured out the protocols, but also took the time to instruct me on how to be better prepared, how to turn out better mixes, and overall best studio practices. He knows that time is money, and would often point out the things I could be doing at home to make things run more efficiently/have less work to do in the studio itself. He is also able to make fun and interesting suggestions for subtle effects and enhancements that I never would have known about, and that really elevate your music to the next level. I feel like I came out on the other side with great mixes and a LOT more knowledge--not a bad deal, especially considering the price point! It's worth noting also that Dick has a lot of great "studio cats" for guitar, drums, bass, piano, organ, etc. who don't just 'fill in' other instrumentation as needed, but are truly masterful and make it sound amazing! One thing to be careful of is the scheduling. The studio can be busy, and weekends are booked far in advance! If you're like me and working a full time job where you can't take a lot of time off without advance notice, it may be worth setting out a recording schedule far in advance--as long as you have the drive to stick to it, so you're not wasting that precious studio time. All in all, a great experience.

I met Harry Tueting the year he opened Harry's Guitars on Glenwood Avenue near downtown Raleigh. I bought strings and played new guitars I could not buy- no steady job. Still I had a clunker to bang on. I took lessons from Steve Howell in the early years. I met Terry Dineen when he began some years later. He was just a kid but he knew a lot more about guitars than I did. I'd played since I was 12, on cheap guitars, but I played. Thanks to the things I learned through visiting this business, I've developed into a modestly decent player. I've met musicians of every skill level in a place where I feel welcome. I've listened to people crank the amps and play for HOURS. No one ever objected. I know and understand the value of a good guitar. I've bought -and returned- guitars from Harry's. Nobody complained. I read the bad reviews given herein and I am STUNNED. Perhaps the reviewers are (1) upset because they did something out of ignorance and can't get over it or (2) have an ax to grind because they weren't regarded as royalty or (3) are simply mean spirited. I cannot in any way associate anyone I know, or have known, at Harry's Guitars with the ugliness I read in those "reviews". Not under Harry's watch. Not under Scott and Mike's watch.
