I was just as surprised to learn that the famed hat-maker once called the small town of DeLand, FL home. I happened to be visiting during peak manatee season and so had the privilege of being able to still enjoy the mansion during its special holiday tour season. During the holiday tour, each room of the mansion has a unique theme to it that you get to learn all about from your helpful docent. Not only do you get to the enjoy the wonderful story of that room's decorations theme but the history of the home and family is wonderfully blended in. I'm told that obviously during the regular historical tour you dive deeper but I left learning waaaaay more about the Stetson family than I ever expected (or knew). The home is privately owned and you the love and passion the new owners have for the historic property is evident in every room. We even had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners (the super sweet and DeLand native, Kayla) I was surprised to learn she had even created many of the decorations herself that adorned the opulent rooms in the mansion. The Stetson Mansion is a great example of one of the many historical gems tucked away in Florida small towns that you can stumble upon when exploring the state. We were able to get clues to help us if we felt stuck, but didn't just give us the answer so we could still feel like we accomplished solving the puzzles. This was a larger room and starts splitting into 2 groups so it was fun since we were not sure when it was going to end. Added to the excitement, but also to the stress when time was running out! :-) We would do another room for sure when we are back in the area!

It's not huge but has a good variety of animals to learn about and see. There is one sand table activity for kids and a coloring area where your art work can be scanned and temporarily added to a little display. The touch ponds with the starfish and feeding the stingrays were fun for our kids. Some of the exhibit spaces could have been improved for children - they were too high for my kids to see into so parents prepare to do some heavy lifting. They could think about adding some step stools or some sort of mini stair system in certain areas to help improve viewing access for the littles. It's all one level and would be easy to navigate for anyone with mobility issues. Additional experiences include VR, mining, hold a baby alligator and stingray feeding. All come at an additional charge. The downside to this place was definitely the price tag. Military, law enforcement, Florida residents and seniors all offered a very minimal discount. Don't forget your various IDs because they're required for the discount. I told the abrasive cashier I didn't have my applicable ID and couldn't find a picture and she said "well it's only $1 discount". I was surprised she wouldn't take me on my word as a lot do these days, especially since it was "only $1". Not the best personality represented at the front desk. The gift shop is a good size and has all kinds of toys, clothing items, stuffed animals and a small area of books with some cute titles. Overall a good way to spend a couple of hours if you're willing to suck up the high prices. I'm glad we went today but can't say we'd be back if the prices aren't lowered...a bit of a one and done experience as it stands now.

I spent around $200 and got $200 worth of work back. My mistake was getting comfortable, I paid in advanced $400 for the rest of my project with terrible results. As you can see in the texts this person refused to respond on multiple occasions, I paid for work around January and still around summer I was asking for my work back. By the time I got my work back there were essentially no changes. The producer added an EQ layer which someone their first semester of undergraduate could do within 10 minutes, it was nothing that I asked for and definitely not worth $400. I contacted his manager who clearly didn't want to be bothered. At this point summer was in full swing and I wanted to just have a refund of my $400 and find another studio. Of course the manager "didn't have my money" and refused. He offered to fix my project but with the low quality of work and clear annoyance with me (and I quote) "This cannot be a never ending project", I accepted that I was stolen from and moved on. DO NOT GO HERE unless you're fine losing hundreds of dollars.
