E.g. I find more European items at the Tsawwassen store and more Halal products at the North Vancouver store! Since they offer many self service check-out counters I have not used customer service and interact with the staff necessary, I don't know if that is a good thing or not but, we do get what we wanted most of the time! As for Ambiance, most stores offer bright and clean environments which makes shopping a little more enjoyable!

There was an unpleasant young man getting carts ready to bring in so I asked if I could take one. He said "go ahead" and gave me a dirty look. Whatever, got a cart and went back in. The employees were restocking the shelves and had there carts sideways and blocking aisles. Completely oblivious that noone could get through. I said "excuse me" and he gave me a dirty look, like how dare I ask him to park his cart parallel to the aisle. When I finished shopping, there were ridiculously long line ups for the cashiers. At least 10 customers waiting at each till. I didn't have a lot, 21 items, so I went through the express, self check out. The young women working that section were also surly and i guess they thought i had more than 25 items and they were giving me dirty looks, too. wtf? where did they find these miserable people? I got home and the stuff from the bakery were too stale to eat and I had to throw it out. The time before the half & half cream went off in 2 days. Who wants to waste their money and get treated poorly when yoi go to the store? These issues are a common occurrence. My friends & family don't have a positive things to say about this store and don't go anymore. Now I understand what they've complained about and it's not worth the hassle. Their employees probably get shit pay and they hate working there. This store has gone down hill over the past couple of years.

The good: they do have SOME selections of chips and other snack items, as well as beverages like soda and non-alcoholic drinks. And the prices seems fair and competitive. Also the employees that I've seen seemed friendly. The bad: Not the best selections, not saying they're bad as they do provide options, but it's just as I've seen better. That and if you're looking for something as simple as chips, then unless if I'm missing something, THEIR selections of those items seemed not that far off from Walmart or even the dollar store (ie. Dollarama) options. Bottom line, this is definitely a good spot to visit if you're looking for some grubs to eat as they do have items for you to grab either to eat in the store as they have their own tables and seats (with a flatscreen tv as well, nice touch), foods in the deli to be eaten on the go, and even the typical roasted whole chicken for about $10 for you to take home for dinner. Basically, if you've been to any IGA, then you've probably already seen them all for the most part. :)

I heard of this place through my bf who use to live in Kits and I discovered there is one in the…read moreNorth Shore. I have to say the one in Kits is stocked with more items. The produce is pretty fresh and they have ton bulk nuts and other items. Mostly Persian influenced foods, which is great for spices and they have tons of different types of Feta cheese - yummie! I was looking for a particular spice that Vanak had, but Persia foods must have ran out, suggestion would be to keep on the dried items fully stocked as well? It's not a big deal but some spices were missing. I find the staff at Persia friendly than Vanak, so I'm going to Persia moving forward. Prices are the most reasonable in the Central/Lower Lonsdale area. Go early, as it gets super busy and there is some street parking at the front.

I took a photo of it and kept the receipt (picture) to ask them for another product to replace the rotten one, expecting fairness from the management. However, for my surprise, the manager told me I should have kept the rotten pineapple and take it to the store to show it to him, otherwise he wouldn't be able to replace it. So I should have kept a rotten and stinky pineapple in my house for 2 days (since I wasn't able to go there the day after the purchase, and could only make it on wednsday), so I would show him this fruit so this way he would be able to allow me to replace it for any other $3.99 product. I used to be a customer at this store, as well as my brother and sister-in-law. None of us will ever go there again, for good.

The place is split into a large deli/produce section and a conventional (shelf) section. They also have random perky things such as an ice cream and popcorn section. The parking lot can be busy but I always manage to find a spot. The staff is very helpful and friendly. They will check on items when asked and not give a typical response like other places that everything is out there. I don't usually get staples here as I prefer to get stuff you don't see in the usual big chain grocery stores. On my last visit, I was looking for Arborio rice and saw that the prices for Thai jasmine rice and Kokuho rose rice were very fair and were even lower than the other stores. Same for the original popular Huy Fong sriracha sauce. The prices for both big and small bottles were not jacked up insanely with the current shortage. I like getting the frozen pies here. They stock Aussie Pie Guy which I love. Occasionally I will get Ernest ice cream here too. The price is the same as the ice cream shop itself. There is also a coffee shop inside (Caffe Artigiano) with seating. There is a good variety of artisan bread here and the grab and go meals are pretty good. If you like to shop local, this is a good place.

Generally, the prices are a tad expensive, but they have some really good specials on very often. The produce department is very good and varied and they get some interesting stuff in (although the more 'interesting' produce sometimes sits there a bit too long...) but it is expensive compared to other fruit & veg shops in North Van. Much better than the Safeway on Lonsdale though in terms of freshness and variety. They have a wonderful array of different cheeses from all over the world that I salivate over and wish I could afford.

Anyways, if you been to any popular grocery store chain, you've been to all of them because they offer pretty much the same idea as any other stores. Their prices seems to be pretty fair and do have a decent amount of items for you to buy as a quick lunch (sandwich, wraps, sushi, chicken tenders and chicken pieces). I decided to get the chicken tenders and the total + the free dipping sauce (first one is free) = $6.11 and the chicken ended up being relatively tender and moist. Is the best tasting chicken ever? No but it does the job if you are hungry and needed something quick. and also the dipping sauce helped a lot too. I also noticed some hot pot meat slices and it's kind of surprising as I didn't really expect them to have these as I've only ever really seen them in Asian stores. The prices for it though wasn't exactly the greatest as I had seen slightly better offers, but it's definitely not terrible. Osaka supermarket in Park Royal mall in West Vancouver 5~8 minute drive away is a better option for anyone who wants this. Lastly the cashier that checked my items out seemed friendly enough. Not a bad place to check out for a quick meal.

I was looking for Walla Walla sweets as its that time of the year but they had none. I also got some mandarins. I passed on a can of black olives as they were $2.99 and nothing special as I know the brand from the Superstore. I got home and made a greek salad. The tomatoes were amazing. sweet, fresh cheap. Wish I had bought three of them. The sweet white onions were horrible. Old strong and gross. Good thing I tried them before I added them to the salad. Now I bought sweet onions here ten days ago and they were excellent. The mandarins I bought were dry and mealy with no detectable sweetness. Hit and miss ! That's the way this place is. Every single time. There are always a few great deals but then you buy something that offsets the bargain. One for one. The staff are very friendly and helpful. But so many of the items in the store don't have a price tag on them. I need to ask the price of at least one item every time im in there. They have steady great prices on green onions, cilantro , pita bread and feta. It can be useful for bruised and a little old fruits for juicing as well. But really, for everything else its hit and miss. I know ive said nothing about their meats and deli as ive never tried any of it. Not that it looks wrong. I just have somewhere for those items.
