    Tan bark area
    Manuel M.

Koda and I went to this park for the first time and it's really nice. It has a mix of tan bark and grass. It also has a smaller area if you prefer only small dogs. It is clean and well maintained by volunteers. Friendly people happy to let their dogs play. We come down to Sausalito every 5-6 weeks for grooming and never stopped here. Great spot if you want to give dogs a stretch before or after crossing the Golden Gate. We coincidentally ran into a pair of Italian mountain dogs we know from our local park, Dogbone Meadow.

    The woman

ATTENTION: If you see this ignorant woman at the Sausalito dog park, her golden retriever will violently attack your dog and then she will laugh at you and tell you its your fault. She made zero effort to help me save my dog from her dogs jaws while my dog was screaming bloody murder. She then proceeded to tell me its my dogs fault for jumping on her dog. She did not even ask if my dog was okay or even attempt to look concerned. If you have an aggressive dog that will violently attack other dogs, DO NOT bring it to the dog park.

    Lots of room!

I live in the south bay and travel a lot with my dog and this is my go-to dog park if I am driving through Marin County. It's big enough for a good run and there are the usual amenities. The locals are pretty nice and you see some beautiful dogs here. The view of the hills is nice too.

Great Dog park. But, unfortunately no kids under 7 years allowed. That is kind of annoying.

This place is a hit or miss. Either you will find 10 dogs or none at all. Mainly consists of wood chips.

The ocean isn't bright blue like postcards, it's deep gray-green, powerful, and constantly moving. The waves don't gently roll in... they crash. You feel it in your chest before you even step on the sand. The sand is darker and softer than most beaches, almost cool even in the sun. Behind you are tall grasses and weathered driftwood, not hotels. In front of you is nothing but horizon. There's a small creek cutting through the beach and a wooden bridge crossing it, which somehow makes the whole place feel more like a nature preserve than a tourist stop. People aren't blasting music or playing volleyball, they're walking, breathing, taking pictures, or just sitting quietly watching the water. If you want a loud beach day, this isn't it. If you want to slow down and actually feel the ocean, this is one of the most peaceful places near San Francisco.

The parking lot is huge but quite crowded, we found a parking spot and walked to the beach. The beach is long and quite beautiful with all the rocks. The sands are not white as Cancun, but quite smooth. Walking from one end to the other is quite a hike. The winds is cold and the water is not warm either, but people still swimming. There are places for BBQ and picnic which are nice. The beach is so huge that finding a spot to sit or having lunch is not hard. We took many nice pictures and hike to the top of the beach. It's a nice place for a weekend. Plenty of restaurants near by in case we need to have lunch or dinner. If you hike in the Muir Woods National Monuments, you must try this beach.

In these crazy Coronavirus times, it's important that we take care of ourselves (mentally,…read morephysically, and emotionally). Although we can't play social sports for the time-being, we can still go outside for a little R & R. Thanks God for Brickyard Park. This property (which is owned by the Strawberry Rec. Dept.) is a hidden beach, children's playground, picnic ground, all rolled into one. For me and my dog, it's our own private oasis. We'll walk here, sit on a bench, and soak in the sun and serene bayside views. It's a great spot to watch seals playing in the water and paddle boarders doing their thing with glorious Mt. Tam in the background. It's picture perfect. In challenging times like these, beautiful spots like Brickyard Park give me solace and hope. This place doesn't draw tons of visitors, nor does it exist to make money off admission or parking fees. It's just a lovely park whose sole purpose is to bring joy and peace to folks in the area. What's not to love about that? So if you're looking to commune with nature, type Brickyard Park into your GPS and reward yourself with some much needed moments of zen. You'll thank for me it later.

The playground is well-kept with two slides and a fun boat motif. There are two swings for children under 5. No dogs allowed. There is a surprisingly clean handicap accessible port-o-let (easy for a parent & child to go into together). The only real downside i can see is that the park is open to the waterway, with just a mini stone wall separating the playground with the beach. The kiddos listened and didn't go past the wall... but the wall certainly wouldn't have stopped them. Logistics: when driving to the park, you have to keep your eye out for a small walkway that heads down a cement path to the park. Not a far walk from the car!

I mean... why fake grass if you can give your dogs the real experience instead of touching plastic with their paws.... anyways that's another topic. This dog park is small but gets very busy. Most people are residents or live nearby. If you're not sure where to find a lot of dogs for yours to play with, this park might just be it. Watch out. The park is covered primarily in astroturf and includes two fire hydrants, some benches, a three port water fountain, and 3 poop bag dispensers (one on each end and one in the middle). The park itself is pretty much always clean. Many of the dogs are from the neighborhood so there are a lot of regular. Practically all the owners we have met are also pretty nice. If you're driving to the park, there is a ton of parking in the area. Only downside is that meters in Mission Bay go until 10pm, but that's no fault of the park. The park is open from 6am until 10pm and we have found that the best time to go is in the morning before work or in the later evening, post 8pm. The park can be especially busy right after working hours and, for us, we try not to go during this time. We love this park and go to it almost daily!
