This park is a beautiful representation of Connecticut nature at its best. A short hike of about 6/10 of a mile that is relatively flat and easy, and about 2/10 of a mile that is steep, rocky, and tricky, to get to the falls. Enter the park across from John Reid Middle School in Redding, continue straight across the bridge, and bear right to follow "The Falls Trail". Definitely worth your time.

Nice easy hike, good for kids (and handicap accessible). I'm sure it's much more picturesque in summer or fall, but still fun in January.

Went for a hike by myself. There was not really a place to park in front of the entrance to the trail. I had to park across the street at a school.. Thought that with the name falls in the title I might see some waterfalls but unfortunately I did not. But it was still a nice hike.

The Falls Trail is pretty hard, rock scrambling most of the way along the water.

There is plenty to do there from an indoor basketball court to a complimentary tea tasting. There is also a library and plenty of common areas where people can read or get work done. Everyone who works there is very friendly and helpful. They have a lot of different free events, so would recommend checking their schedule online before going. It wasn't super busy when I went, but would suggest getting a free ticket online in advance just in case.

The five acre park was donated to the town from the estate of Elizabeth Ballard in 1964 and has been the site of countless events including concerts, parties, town events and quiet reflection. Stately trees, formal gardens, ornamental shrubs and flowers reflect the beauty of changing New England seasons and provide a safe, central place for contemplation and recreation. In order to preserve, protect, and improve the park's functionality, the Friends of Ballard Park Project are working with the Town of Ridgefield and the Department of Parks and Recreation. Together, we have developed a plan to rehabilitate some areas that have been subject to heavy use and improve areas of the park that are used less often.
