I have been coming to Sauble Beach my whole life and it's the best Beach ever!!! Did you know that it's the second longest fresh water beach in the world? People I know who have been to pristine beaches all over the world say Sauble Beach is the most incredible beach they've ever been to. It has about 6-7 sandbars which enables you to get about half a kilometer out in the water. You can literally spend hours out there. So much fun. The shoreline is sooooo nice and sandy, not rocky at all like most beaches, and the water is crisp, clean and beautiful. Sauble also has a "main strip" with food places and shopping. Lots of clothing and tacky beach stuff, jewelry, sunglasses, etc... Gotta love it. I think the piercing place is still there too. There were a couple of arcades and an outdoor trampoline place when I was little, probably over 20 years ago now. Those were the days, man. Those were the days... Further north on the strip is a little "amusement park" with mini-golf, go karts, a potato sack slide, batting cages, and a gravity-powered roller coaster. Ghetto, but so much fun at the same time. Tons of memories there... Definitely worth checking out. The beach has gained much popularity in the past 10 years or so, which means cottage rentals close to the water can go for upwards of $1,000.00 a week. There are a couple campsites a few kilometres away from the beach (by Sauble Falls) but I wouldn't recommend camping there if you're looking for a peaceful stay. I've camped there several times and have had to deal with noise issues on a number of occasions. Maybe you'll get lucky though... The beach used to have free parking but that changed about 8 years ago. Now it's $3 an hour or $15 a day (free after 6:00pm.) The money goes to the local native community who own part of the land and beach though, so I don't really mind paying it...it's the least we could do really. Only complaints are the lack of washrooms (!!!) and that they don't allow dogs on the beach at all. I'm biased though because I'm a dog owner...I'm sure some would see this as a plus though. Guess it wouldn't be too fun stepping in a steaming pile of dog poop while running around in the sand.... No matter how you look at it, Sauble truly is one of a kind. You haven't been at a real beach until you visit this one.

    Welcome sign :)

I came here on a Monday expecting it to be quiet but boy was I wrong. It was packed! If it's packed on a Monday then you know it must be a good place for beaching. The sand was so soft. No rocks poking at your feet. It wasn't quiet but it was relaxing. They have a lot of activities there as well. There are volleyball nets set up, a surf shop, and rentals available for water activities. There are also a lot of shops all within walking distance. A wide selection of eateries available. Not too many washrooms available from what I could see although we didn't walk too far down. No issues with parking. This beach was well kept. Will definitely return.

better then wasaga, but not as good as other Ontario beaches I've been to. would I go out of my way to this beach? if I was alone, not a chance, but with a group of friends absolutely. the beach is very clean and almost endless as it seems to go on for 10 kms in length, some of the beach is on private property which is fine, no one seems to care if you want to walk or run the entire beach. driving the entire beach though? I wouldn't recommend it without an suv or a truck, as some portions dip down because of water that either feeds into the bay or out into the lakes. everyone is really nice in both the town and on the beach, the main strip is flagged with shops that will sell anything and everything, very touristy to the point of saying wasaga junior, the DQ and mac's add a nice touch to this section of the beach. the water is somewhat on the cold side, not that I would dare complain, shallow beach waters make it easy to go in and out of the beach. would be best to come here during the middle of the week, being three hours away from Toronto would stop a lot of people from coming up to this beach during the week, but on a weekend, on a truly hot weekend, I can see this beach being completely slammed. lots of parking, but you have to pay for it, and although everyone comes into the beach through the main road, there is a bunch of back roads to get into the beach or out of just as quick. an awesome beach, but no my favorite in Ontario.

Wasaga beach was always my stop, but this place kicks its ass all over the place, and I'll never go back after Sauble.

I asked for a discount due to delays, I was offered $50 off on a $1800 purchase and I was also given a timeline of delivery, we never accepted the $50 discount. Again I had to push back when the ETA was missed and I received the wrong tracking number. This company does not allow reviews on there Facebook so this is the only place to air my concerns with the public. Board was delivered on July 18th. 14 weeks / 103 days later. Upon opening the poor packaging, I noted some air bubble's on the Standing grip pad and did my best to squeeze them out, figured after all this my girl just wanted to use her board. She had a smile on her face, shame we didn't have it for our holiday.

If you aren't familiar with the location, I can sum it up in one word, BEACH!…read moreSauble Beach is one of the premiere beaches in Canada and listed on surf-forecast.com which has wind, wave, water temp, swell info, etc., for surf breaks around the world. The area where Pickwick is located is on the Saugeen Nation land which is governed and run by the local natives. Sauble is the second longest fresh water beach in the world and one of the few that allows driving on since it's quite wide. There is a berm maintained that divides the swimming side and the road side so the cars are not normally an issue. The cottages are hit or miss depending on which one you select. Each has its own idiosyncrasies and/or advantages. The one we had was set back in the trees somewhat so was more sheltered than the others close to the shore so campfires and barbeques were easier but being in the shade wasn't ideal when the weather got cooler. Since many of the cottages were built in the 1940s they are very rustic and basically one step above camping. They are all outfitted with a kitchen that has most of the items needed for basic food prep, but not ideal for a nice meal. The bedrooms were small and cramped, and the bathroom door wouldn't close all the way. Some other cottages were nicer with real bathrooms and kitchens and nice bedrooms with closets but they cost more and can be a challenge to book because they are in such demand. There are a group of Pickwick cottages on the other side of the road which are cheaper, but you won't be able to pour yourself a coffee and drink it at the beach as simply and easily. If you only use the cottage for sleeping there wouldn't be a problem. On the plus side, the hosts were very accommodating and were responsive promptly answering email requests for more firewood, etc. And the location is superb! You can walk a few steps to the Trading Post for convenience items and ice cream. Or an easy bicycle ride on 2 lane roads with little traffic on them gets you right into the town of Sauble with most services you could need. I love this place!

Pickwick was recommend by a friend from work, and we thought we knew what to expect. We knew going in it was nothing fancy basically just a roof over our heads a shower , fridge, so we were not expecting much. When we arrived the "cottage" upon first glance was what we expected, (so we thought. ) the " cottage" itself was painted a very dark green color, we soon realized that it should have been white like what were they thinking painting it that dark color? It was so hot inside the whole time we were there it never dropped under 90 degrees! There are no windows on the south side of the building and the windows that we were able to get open didn't even get so much as a slight breeze, we love the heat and who doesn't want a summer vacation at the beach to be hot! But this was almost sickening trying to sleep in an oven is as close as I can describe, stagnant, heavy air . We booked a 5 day vacation but left after two days the conditions s were the worst I've ever seen. One of Our kids was physically ill and vomiting by the second day and it took 2-3 days just to recover from this experience. Although i think it was heat stroke it could have been the mold growing in the bathroom behind and around the toilet. The very best thing about this visit here was the beach if not for that I don't think we can would have lasted 24 hours, honestly we were there at the beach all day both days until we eventually had to get out of the sun or go to eat but dreaded going up to cottage to do so , there was no escaping the heat not a tree not an umbrella, nothing My husband actually opted to sleep in our vehicle the second night just to escape it. My advice before you rent a cottage, go look at it ......really look at it .
