This is one of the longest freshwater sand beaches in the world! It is very busy on the weekend, but the advantage is that you can walk and find a less crowded spot, as the beach is so extensive. It's a great place to spend the day, as there is shopping, restaurants and a cool, beachy, retro 50s vibe here. read more

A really nice beach! The sand is so smooth and it makes swimming very enjoyable. Caught the sunset here while visiting the area on vacation and I'm so glad we stopped here. The water is fresh and cool and just the right temperature to swim and be comfortable. It's just the most wonderful beach! read more

The food was actually pretty good, my partner and I had the fish and the chicken sandwich. Server was good but the place was definitely understaffed. Reasonable prices and selection. Personally I loved that they had Pepsi and coke branded stuff around. Is that allowed? Haha. read more

Good place for a weekend trip, especially in summers. On long weekends, it can be crazy crowded though because of its proximity to Toronto and London. There are a lot of activities going on in terms of water sports and beach activities. The beach water is good. On a sunny day, it can be great to relax. Having said that, on a crowded day, parking can be a challenge. There is a parking lot on the opposite side of the Lakeshore Blvd N (as you turn right from the intersection with the Main St) but that can get full quickly. There is also a make-shift parking lot in the beach area itself that charges about $10. read more

Be prepared for difficulty paying for parking so they can ticket you instead and generate revenue. Many have had issues even if they have been able to get through the difficult to navigate and often buggy parking app. It's a total BS means of making money off the tourists who support the town, not that it's much to look at anyway. Grand Bend, Goderich, Southampton and Port Elgin are much nicer. read more

I have been coming to Sauble Beach my whole life and it's the best Beach ever!!! Did you know that it's the second longest fresh water beach in the world? People I know who have been to pristine beaches all over the world say Sauble Beach is the most incredible beach they've ever been to. It has about 6-7 sandbars which enables you to get about half a kilometer out in the water. You can literally spend hours out there. So much fun. The shoreline is sooooo nice and sandy, not rocky at all like most beaches, and the water is crisp, clean and beautiful. Sauble also has a "main strip" with food places and shopping. Lots of clothing and tacky beach stuff, jewelry, sunglasses, etc... Gotta love it. I think the piercing place is still there too. There were a couple of arcades and an outdoor trampoline place when I was little, probably over 20 years ago now. Those were the days, man. Those were the days... Further north on the strip is a little "amusement park" with mini-golf, go karts, a potato sack slide, batting cages, and a gravity-powered roller coaster. Ghetto, but so much fun at the same time. Tons of memories there... Definitely worth checking out. The beach has gained much popularity in the past 10 years or so, which means cottage rentals close to the water can go for upwards of $1,000.00 a week. There are a couple campsites a few kilometres away from the beach (by Sauble Falls) but I wouldn't recommend camping there if you're looking for a peaceful stay. I've camped there several times and have had to deal with noise issues on a number of occasions. Maybe you'll get lucky though... The beach used to have free parking but that changed about 8 years ago. Now it's $3 an hour or $15 a day (free after 6:00pm.) The money goes to the local native community who own part of the land and beach though, so I don't really mind paying it...it's the least we could do really. Only complaints are the lack of washrooms (!!!) and that they don't allow dogs on the beach at all. I'm biased though because I'm a dog owner...I'm sure some would see this as a plus though. Guess it wouldn't be too fun stepping in a steaming pile of dog poop while running around in the sand.... No matter how you look at it, Sauble truly is one of a kind. You haven't been at a real beach until you visit this one. read more

I came here on a Monday expecting it to be quiet but boy was I wrong. It was packed! If it's packed on a Monday then you know it must be a good place for beaching. The sand was so soft. No rocks poking at your feet. It wasn't quiet but it was relaxing. They have a lot of activities there as well. There are volleyball nets set up, a surf shop, and rentals available for water activities. There are also a lot of shops all within walking distance. A wide selection of eateries available. Not too many washrooms available from what I could see although we didn't walk too far down. No issues with parking. This beach was well kept. Will definitely return. read more

better then wasaga, but not as good as other Ontario beaches I've been to. would I go out of my way to this beach? if I was alone, not a chance, but with a group of friends absolutely. the beach is very clean and almost endless as it seems to go on for 10 kms in length, some of the beach is on private property which is fine, no one seems to care if you want to walk or run the entire beach. driving the entire beach though? I wouldn't recommend it without an suv or a truck, as some portions dip down because of water that either feeds into the bay or out into the lakes. everyone is really nice in both the town and on the beach, the main strip is flagged with shops that will sell anything and everything, very touristy to the point of saying wasaga junior, the DQ and mac's add a nice touch to this section of the beach. the water is somewhat on the cold side, not that I would dare complain, shallow beach waters make it easy to go in and out of the beach. would be best to come here during the middle of the week, being three hours away from Toronto would stop a lot of people from coming up to this beach during the week, but on a weekend, on a truly hot weekend, I can see this beach being completely slammed. lots of parking, but you have to pay for it, and although everyone comes into the beach through the main road, there is a bunch of back roads to get into the beach or out of just as quick. an awesome beach, but no my favorite in Ontario. read more

I have to agree with Monica F. that Sauble Beach is the best! And that is saying a lot with a number of amazing beach spots in Ontario, like Sherkston Shores down on Lake Erie and Turkey Point and on and on. Sauble is well taken care of by the local natives who run the shores south of the town of Sauble Beach. I've seen the guys out there manually cleaning up natural seaweed fouling the beautiful sandy shore, wow that's pride! They patrol the beach and do a good security job, yet there is a relaxed feeling that is so welcoming. Sauble has it all, the tourist strip, serious surf shops for die hards, great swim suit shopping, and solid services like the LCBO and the Value Mart. And check out those sunsets! read more

This is seriously the best beach. I have minimal beaching experience, but this place is awesome. Everything is walking distance, there are a ton of solid eateries, and the beach is so well taken care of. Wasaga beach was always my stop, but this place kicks its ass all over the place, and I'll never go back after Sauble. I've also decided to not blame Sauble for my shoddy sunscreen giving me Sunburnageddon 2013. read more

Sauble Beach is about a 3 hour drive from Toronto, and is located in Cottage country - a great place to vacation - the beach is on Lake Huron and extends for almost 10 km. The town is small but expands to accommodate about 100,000 people during the summer months. There is plenty of things to do in Sauble Beach including many beach activities. If this is your first time thinking or ever being up here it won't be you last the water is so nice small waves most of the time but there are days where they are huge and amazing. I've lived in the area for a number of years and am very disappointed with the water quality. Ask any restaurant for a glass of water. yuk, iron sulfide crap. Be prepaired to buy water More and more swimmers are suffering swimmers ear infections and the beach is getting closed more often after a heavy rain due to bacteria level spikes. There isn't any local water system available to businesses and no town sewer system. The sand is so hard,why is it like that? When I was a boy here the sand was soft and loose. Why don't they till it to soften it up. There were some rare plovers nesting at the north end but I think a cleanup of the beach dissturbed the nesting site this year. The municipality sure has screwed up this beach. Expect to pay for walkons on the native side $3 and metered rates for parking on the north side and only a couple public washrooms. 1 on the native south side and 2 on the north. Dogs aren't allowed on the beach due to scouping problems but I understand the humans are erecting little tents on the beach on the native side who don't want to walk to the washrooms. Pick one of the other beaches on this shoreline either north or south for less hassle and fewer people and better quality water to swim in.
