The Sarnic got a bunch of positive reviews online and I'm pleased to say that for the most part the hotel was as good as we expected.
The location cant be beat. You are about 5-10 minutes from all the big sites, and a main tram station to go anywhere beyond that. There's heaps to do and lots of spots for a coffee, tea, or a meal. There's even a Starbucks within walking distance, great for all of you coffee drinkers.
The rooms are small and simple, but comfortable. There's a flat screen TV (slim pickings on stations though), a minibar, air conditioner, etc. The bathroom had a great shower with amazing water pressure, however it did leak and make the floor wet. Just a minor gripe however; I'm sure if we mentioned it to the staff they would have taken care of it. But we returned so exhausted each day we didn't want to deal with a repair guy or potential room switch,
The staff is very nice, and quite helpful. The ride to and from the airport is a great convenience, even for 20 euros. If you book via their site they will pick you up for free. They also have perks like a free breakfast and wifi with great speeds (8 megs).
In the end, I would definitely stay here again if I went back to Istanbul. Recommended to all.
Pros - Locations, cleanliness, helpful staff, free breakfast, airport transportation, rooftop bar with a nice view, free wifi.
Cons - No elevator, small basic quality beds, minor electrical blackouts in the area every day we were there, the call to prayer in the morning from the Blue Mosque can be a lot if you are a light sleeper. read more
