We were sat in the back wall with no one around us and noticed a couple of mosquitoes nearby. We shooed them away and as we were waiting for menus the guy who say us never came. Five minutes later, he gives us the menu and leaves. Once again another 5 minutes goes by and nothing. I was ready to leave and even sent my oldest daughter to look for another restaurant but another worker showed up and took our order. Thankfully the food did not take long and we ate as fast as we could before being bitten anymore by mosquitoes. The food was ok the bufalina I ordered was very salty in the middle and the crust was super thin but my daughter and husband liked their plates. There are standard Italian sandwiches that may not be daunting to an average visitor like turkey, roast beef, meatballs. But the deliciousness lies in the unique offerings here. Romans ate various organ meats (evolutionarily beneficial to survival and ecology); so not only can you get what you would normally eat in an Italian sandwich here but we also tried the liver, sweetbreads and kidney sandwiches in fresh rosemary, oregano, thyme (not all together lol) other spices and olive oil.... Dio mio!! I cant forget the flavors we had here. They add white beans and marinated vegetables too in some sandwiches to round things out. The bread, the flavors, the fresh ingredients, and the whole experience made this more than just lunch -- it was a taste of Italian food culture. Fun fact: All'Antico Vinaio started as a small family business in Florence in 1989 and became famous for its traditional Tuscan schiacciata sandwiches.
