I regret not reading the reviews before taking my car to Sarks. What's more telling than their bad reviews is their responses to these negative reviews; defensive and argumentative, just like my experience. I was charged $169 to install and align headlight bulbs despite the fact that their process was a simple trial and error that any DIYer could do. This was not explained to me before I was quoted or charged. Needless to say, my headlight bulbs were not properly adjusted and rather than sympathizing and offering some equitable solution, Jeremy became defensive and instead chose to take an argumentative tone with me on the phone. This is definitely one of the robbery-shops your dad warned you about. Save your time and money and take your car elsewhere. read more

Please take care with this place!! My nightmare started on 03/23/2024 when I went to these bad places that were recommended for extended warranty insurance. The first time I asked the staff if they had experience on land rovers and I asked more than one time to be sure and they said they have been working for years in any brand of cars. Then they say need 3 days to fix the car that has AC Line damage and driver-side wheel bearing issue and have to be changed. Then they say need time for the parts order and from 3 days goes to one week. Then they said the car had extra damage and had to change the axle on the driver side which had an extra 1k cost and I approved because I need my car fixed. The Cost is 2.5k they say and from 1 week the car stays in this bad place for 3 weeks because they say they can't find the right part. After they said many times "The car is ready tomorrow" they finally returned the car on 04/15/2024 with still issue on one of the sides and supposedly the AC Line was repaired. After a week of waiting they supposed contact me for the other side repair, they didn't contact me to check the car again I went to EUROVER and they made a check and fix the passenger side bearing and reported to me the other job was done by SARKS Automotive due as a result is a bad job and make more damage. The AC repair is not working again so all the job they do is bad and have to do the check and repair again in another place. I asked on the side on 05/07/2024 in the morning to the owner about a refund because of the bad job before I started any legal action and he's acting so violently yelling and bad movements like taking me out of my car in the parking lot at the shop. I have to make a police report on the situation. This a long review just to make sure no one has the same problems with this place and the owner. Now I have to pay again for all the job they do and the extra damage. read more

Took my vehicle there for transmission replacement under the warranty. (Over $4000) Vehicle was there from Oct to Dec. Warranty agreed to pay the National Average rate, which was $150 lower than what Sark's charged. Instead of telling me that, they informed me that the $150 was my warranty deductible. Very unhappy with this lie because after talking with Warranty, I found out that I have No Deductible. Complained back to the company, but no resolution. Time to look for another automobile repair shop. Very disappointed. read more

I'm a forever customer with Sarks Automotive. Jeremy and his team worked diligently on my vehicle. When my Pilot had a misfire again, Jeremy quickly responded to me via messenger and asked me if I could bring it in as soon as possible. Brian was the mechanic who was determined to find the problem and wouldn't give up even though it was a hairline crack in one of the spark plugs that was hard to find. Definitely WOULD NOT RECOMMEND....STAY AWAY. We brought our daughter's car in for a small oil leak and a power steering issue. They told us that there was a list of work to be done and it would cost a little over $3,000 to be fixed. We paid them and said to go ahead and do all the work they needed to get it completely fixed so her car can get her through college. The day we brought it home, it was still leaking oil. They admitted that they made a mistake and said they would re-fix it. They came and picked it up. They had her car for another day and when we got it back the second time it had 2 leaks instead of just 1! Instead of just leaking oil, now it's leaking oil and antifreeze from the radiator that they just replaced (that was one of the items they said needed to be done, but now we wonder if that even needed be be fixed in the first place). We brought the car back in again and now they are telling us that we need to pay them another $800 to actually fix it and that things like this can happen when they work on one area and another area can break. If there was actually a risk of things breaking when they worked on the car, that should have been disclosed up front so we could determine if we wanted to take that risk, but nothing like that was discussed at all. They never fixed her car and had they told us that there was a risk that they would break it and make it worse by working on it then we never would have spent $3000!!! We left 2 messages for the owner, Jeremy, and he hasn't returned our calls. We were told that he is busy with his 'other business'. After speaking with the manager, Brad, we were told that the very best they can do is charge us another $600 and then they will fix it. None of this felt legitimate (or fair) so we just decided to drive over and pick the car up and bring it home today to bring to another mechanic later this week. On our way home, the car began smoking (it's NEVER done that). We pulled over into a parking lot with a smoking car. We were shocked to pop the hood and find that there was a tool inside the motor area, a cap was completely missing and antifreeze fluid was splashed everywhere (I'm guessing this is why it was smoking so badly) and there is now a loud sound. We immediately called Sarks and the owner, Jeremy, on his personal phone and nobody answered or returned our call. We will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. read more

Would not reccomend! I went into Sarks last Thursday for an oil change. They recommended I replace my serpentine belt, the lady at the front told me it would take 30 minutes to replace the belt. I was there for an hour and a half. On Sunday I noticed the belt looked frayed almost as if was never replaced. Never recieved an apology until I asked for one. They refused to give me any refund.STAY AWAY! They put my life in danger by not checking there work. The lady at the front , Crystal, told me they put the belt on too tight. Would leave 0 stars if possible. Friend and I got here right at 8 AM when they open and were told an oil change and brake pads would be a little over an hour for friends car. As we had a trip ahead of us that worked perfectly and we could be on the road in a decent time. 3 hours later, we were told they picked up the wrong brakes but went back to get the right ones and would be there within 30 minutes. 3 hours after the initial update, now around 1:30 PM, we were then told that once again, the wrong brakes were picked up but the car is all prepped, just needs the brake pads. As I'm typing this review at 4:53, the car has just been finished and is being tested to make sure everything was done properly. We have been here for almost 9 hours at this point. Their response was to not offer any discount of originally quoted price. Unacceptable to have us wait this long with very few updates on a job that should not take much longer than an hour, on top of that to not offer a discount for the time taken up is a slap in the face and shows the owner does not care that we have wasted so much time here. read more

I took my car because it was overheating and wouldn't crank. I thought the starter needed replaced but was unsure. Took my car to Starks to get fixed. They contacted me telling me starter & alternator tested good and it was the battery, so I had them to replace it. I went to pick the car up, and omw home it started running hot again, so I took the car right back. Days later they call and tell me it's a leaking radiator, faulty thermostat, and it failed the block test 3 times. They told me I needed a new engine. I'm no mechanic but I have enough sense to know this isn't true. I immediately picked my car up and went elsewhere. read more

Don't come here. When the other reviews talk about this place saying only a few minutes, they really mean another hour or just now starting on your car. We called this morning to make sure our car would be done today they said yes by 5:00pm. We come in at 5:20pm and was told it would be another 5 minutes. Well we are currently still waiting on the car. We have errands to run but they don't give you the decency to actually tell you how long it will actually take because in actuality they just now start on your car. You have people call out today? Then let your customers know, especially the ones who call ahead of time to MAKE SURE our time is not wasted. The "deals" are not worth this much of a headache. read more

I tried to give them a fair try. I had to give 1 star because they have free coffee. Got my oil changed here a few times and always waited almost an hour or more even though I was told I was first or next in line. Took my daughters Ford Explorer for clogged catylic converters and it took almost a week. " wrong parts shipped to them " No compensation for our inconvenience and time. Engine light came on we were told to drive it over the weekend and if it didn't go away to bring it in. Brought it back, was told no reading they just reset it. It came BACK on and apparently the mechanic told his employee it was the O2 sensor ?? Was told they don't replace the sensors even though every site I could find suggests replacing both at the same time. I will NOT be back. Slow and untrustworthy. read more

Took my car in for an oil leak that another shop had supposedly already fixed and another place said they couldn't do it, " above their pay grade". They got us right in. They ended up having to order a part so they ended up keeping it over the weekend but had it ready first thing Monday morning. Super nice people, reasonable prices. Helpful Staff that gets the job done. Recently had a bad alternator and had to get my vehicle towed to Sarks Automotive. They replaced the alternator, which ended up being a faulty part, and the next business day got my car back in and a new alternator put in by time I was done with work. They worked well with me and all the kinks in-between were taken care of quickly and professionally. My wife and I use Sarks for all our Automotive needs and we can highly recommend. read more

in the last week Felt compelled to write this review after much consideration if it helps prevent another person from having a similiar bad experience. I live in Mauldin when my air condition went out in my car, as I was riding by, I seen the Sarks business from the road. I relied on past reviews which overall seemed positive so I was willing to give it a try! I went to this business & paid a diagnostic fee. I was given an estimate. I was told my air would be fixed for upward of $400 & my car would need to be left for a couple of days. A couple of days turned into over a week. Nevertheless my opinion at tgat time was its worth the sacrifice to have my air fixed in the middle of a hot Summer. Got my car back & was told it was fixed. When I got into the car, it was filled wth dirt and debris where the mechanic had been working and had not cleaned behind himself. I expressed my concern & felt the owner was insensitive. Fast forward not even a year later my air went out again. Took the car back under my warranty to inform the owner of the issue. He took 15 minutes to look at the car and told me the blower motor needs to be replaced and it wouldn't be covered under the warranty. At that point I expressed being disappointed that in less than a year, after having paid for a full diagnostic. my air went out again. Why wasn't this revealed in the original diagnostic? I received another high quote & was really disappointed & couldn't help feeling what was wrong should've been found and fixed with my original diagnostic and former services. In my mind I had already made a decision I wasn't paying this business anything else or trusting them with my vehicle again. I was told I would receive a follow up call about scheduling a service but never did. It wouldn't have mattered, I had made up my mind. So BUYER BEWARE!!!!!! read more

Brakes failed and they put new lines on for less than they originally quoted. A couple weeks later, rear strut failed. Jeremy called to say they could fix it but the undercarriage was so badly corroded from salt (Northern car) that he advised replacing the car. He could have charged me for the repair and for all the future repairs he figured would be needed soon but he put my best interests ahead of a quick profit. Nice to find an honest businessman who puts his cutomers first. read more

Nice enough guys. Paid for an oil change, tire rotation and inside outside car wash. They did change the oil. They did not rotate the tires. If they had done a decent wash I would not have known that they did not rotate the tires but that did not happen. Maybe it was an honest mistake...maybe. Do NOT use Sarks. They replaced our engine and did such a terrible job that we had 2 separate mechanics, including the Honda dealership tell us that it was the worst engine install they have ever seen...and this is after Jeremy told us that he would let his own wife and kids drive the van. Turns out it was a ticking time bomb, there were parts missing, fluids leaking, stuff being held by zip ties, and parts that were not replaced that should have been during the engine install. I have videos, pictures, and printouts from the dealership to prove it all. And to make it worse, when we asked him about it, he said if there wasn't a performance problem, then there was no problem. Posted a EXTREMLY critical review about SARK's Automotive. Got a reply back from the owner. It was ALL my fault. I acted badly. I started the cussing. I was the aggressor. I did not give the staff the proper time. Six weeks to do a job that they said would take two. Which they NEVER started. I abused them. I put my face next to George's beard. I invaded his space. I forced him to threaten me. In other words it is the costumer is totally wrong and abusive. Even though I the big bad abuser bought $28.50 worth of ice cream to pass out to the crew. Did not have to do so I was not asked, just thought to make a nice gesture. As stated in my original review the next shop did it Better, ( they dropped the pan on the trans. cleaned & spray painted all parts that were transferred from old engine. ) Cheaper, Their high estimate was lower than Sark's starting point. Quicker, the start to finish time was 4 1/2 weeks. this included getting in line to do the job. Also the drive shaft had to be cut 15.20 inches and rebalanced. Sark's did not think the drive shaft had to be cut. ALL THIS WORK WAS DONE WITHOUT ANY CUSSING. Never author anything unless willing to sign it. I am Kenneth O. Cheshire Jr. read more

Here's my honest review. I chose Sarks Automotive because of all the great reviews on this site and I've dealt with nothing but dishonest mechanics in the past. So, I was looking forward to Sarks because of what everyone has said. Here's my experience: My heater stopped working one day and I smelled antifreeze as well then I noticed a vapor blowing from the vent and into the truck. I knew it was my heater core so took it to Sarks. I spoke with Jeremy who is a nice guy and he told me he is an honest mechanic and also told me a little bit about the business. He quoted me a price of close to $800 which was reasonable because all the other quotes I received from other mechanics were just the same. I dropped my truck off and was told that it would be ready the next day. Unfortunately it wasn't but that was fine just as long as it got fixed. I picked it up after 2 days and he explained how they accidentally broke the gear shift but I can pick up the part for $5.00 and fix it myself. That was a little shocking since they were the ones who broke it. My gears are as followed: P N D R 2 1. The needle is now after the 1 so sometimes when I think I'm in D, I'm actually in 2. Nonetheless, I looked past it. Jeremy told me that he installed 2 new heater cores and he did me a favor by also replacing the blend door since he noticed that was about to go out as well. I paid him, took the truck and left. A week in a half later, my heater stopped working again so I took it back to Sarks since I already paid to get it fixed. He takes a look and informs me that it is the blend door actuator and that the repair will cost me $400. He told me its coincidence that happened and it has nothing to do with the heater core or blend door that he replaced. I didn't pay as I wasn't convinced with the diagnosis. The NEXT day I smelled antifreeze in and outside of my truck when I was driving. I thought it was because he had to open it back up to take a look but when I pulled out my garage I noticed a huge puddle of antifreeze. I called him and explained to him the situation and he told me that he isn't dishonest since he's not in the business of lying and for me to go up there and he will personally look at it himself. So I did. He tells me that since my truck is so old (its only a 99 Expedition)that the hose had a pinhole leak in it but it wasn't caused by anything they did but he's going to do me another "favor" and replace it for free. So he did and I picked it up the next day. So, now that was the second coincidence. Now, just 2 days later I noticed a strong antifreeze smell in and outside the truck again. I looked in my garage this morning and noticed a nice sized puddle of antifreeze. This is the 3rd coincidence. I didn't call Jeremy to tell him about this leak because at this point taking my vehicle to Sarks is pointless to me as I made the decision he will not be my mechanic. It was just one coincidence to much. That's my truthful review of my encounter with Sarks. read more
