Mr. Glen Foster Sr. came to my home and presented affordable options for granite and quartz. After seeing their work, I realized I really wanted white quartz on my countertops and not granite. I contacted Southern LA Granite to look at their available quartz options at their new location in Bywater, LA. Glen showed me white quartz options within my budget and I am excited to say that I will be able to get white quartz on my countertops! He was very straight forward with the price/sqft as well. We reviewed my options for backsplash and I am not only going to get the look I was wanting, I am also going to get a decorative backsplash above my range (which I purchased new in order to have flat range surface instead of one with the controls on the back panel). By the end of my appointment, I was able to reserve my job and a tentative date of install. This was far most the most pleasant experience I have had with my kitchen remodel which is due to start on January 20, 2020.

The agents seemed transparent about the relatively fast turnaround on getting the stone shipped/cut/and installed. However when the installer came to install, they installed on of the slabs with significant chipping at the seam. It took weeks of advocacy to get them to replace the slab and make sure the seams where the appropriate color to match the countertop. The fact that the installer cut corners and didn't notify myself or the company angered me, and the fact that the company tried to avoid responsibility and was slow to resolve the issue soured me on the experience. I really wanted to like them, but the work and service was just not satisfactory. Additionally, they sold us on a type of quartz from MSI that has not been tested or rated for durability or heat performance. I would have appreciated more transparency in this regard as well from the agents.

My serger needed major repairs. My machine was in VERY bad shape, it was not a simple fix. I finally attempted to do myself. I had it partially disassembled forgot where they went and put it up for some time. I should mention this is a Baby Lock Evolve (8 thread). I was finally ready to buy new. I was looking for a dealer. I run across AASV&M. I went to find them. It's in a very inconspicuous location next to a locksmith place and some other type hardware store. When you come in, the place looks very underwhelming with a few display machines and some used ones on the floor for sale. A guy comes out from the back. His name is Alex and he is the owner/tech/salesperson everything. He has a thick Russian accent and is kind of gruff. He answers my questions but most of his inventory for what I wanted were at his other store in NOLA. I tell him about my serger and he says to bring it in. I didn't get my hopes up. He tells me it will cost me to troubleshoot. I told him to stop at $500.00. He calls about a week later saying my machine is ready for pick up. I was ready for disappointment. Nope, he'd fixed it. For $350.00! He could have taken the whole $500. He could have used the opportunity to sell me a new one. But he was honest. And good! I will do business here any day. If you could have seen the bag of screws and the state of the machine you'd be just as impressed. If you're looking for coffee and chatting, this isn't that type of place. If you're looking for a very honest and fantastic sewing machine/serger/embroidery mechanic/dealer no frills- he's gold star. I will be making some major purchases here. My colleague turns me on to this guy who also is partners with All About Sewing. Since sewing places are scarce in Louisiana. I had a Alabama trip planned specifically to get what I wanted. I call and the guy/owner tells me he's got a machine but only one left and it will be a million years before they get another- so I'd have to make a deposit over the phone. I laugh and think this guy is using sales tactics from the 1970's. I decline with a chuckle, told him I'll risk it, I'd like to come in first - (if you buy this type and this much equipment you're going to enter a relationship with this dealer). I decide I want to swing by All American since it's in the area. As I'm telling the owner what I want. HE's telling me what I want (what he's selling of course). I am still kinda laughing at this situation, it's kind of a soft tug-o-war between us. He finally TELLS me I can't afford what I want- yes it really happened, LMAO. He's explaining rudimentary things to me-I'm not his usual demographic. Ron Burgundy gets flustered and says he's offended (I should be the offended one, but I'm not- it's comical). He goes on to point out the window to our commuter vehicle (covered in mud) and says "is that your car?" He was judging the book by the cover. So my take- he is an anachronism with the antiquated sales practices that work well for the under educated consumers or holdovers from the used car salesmen era. He does not know the nuts and bolts of the machines (from the fluff answers he was giving me). I don't think I'd be getting much support after the sale. Later I told my friend who turned me on to him "thanks" and he shook his head and said, "Ol Slick, I told my wife she got took, Ol Slick doesn't do well with husbands". I also told my neighbor of my experience and she said, "oh he's so nice, he said my machine couldn't be fixed and traded this one for it." She's 72. So Alabama trip went great got most of the machines I needed for under $35k and if they need service I'll take to Precision Sewing in Covington. They are the best for tech services-hands down!

We decided to renovate our kitchen. We shopped around - deciding on type of stone was easy but deciding on appearance was tough. After a while we decided to go with Quartzite. Thanks to Jeremy Maples with Capital City Granite, we found the perfect Quartzite to our liking. Sea Pearl. Once our cabinets and island were in position, Jeremy and his guys went to work. They had stone installed within a couple of days from the time we gave him the green light. Jeremy and his crew were very professional and efficient. Their work quality was superb. I would highly recommend Capital City Granite for your fabrication and installation needs. (Notes) There was a small (very small) chip on the back edge of part of our countertop that no one would have noticed. In fact, once we install the backsplash it would have covered it. But Jeremy and one of his color specialists insisted on correcting it. They remedied the flaw. We purchased our sink from Capital City Granite as well. We saw a small dent and reported it to Jeremy. Absolutely no hassle whatsoever- he replaced it the next day. This type of service and willingness to make us happy is impressive. Capital City Granite is old school work principles - meaning customer satisfaction is of utmost importance.
