On a sunny day, I bring my DELE books, order a glass of Albariño, and people-watch from the sidewalk. I'm also a firm believer in the Spanish bar value proposition. When I order a glass of wine, I love to receive some olives or a montadito to snack on. At Planeta, I am presented with a bowl of olives, a full plate of montaditos, and half a tortilla espanola. (Granted, the tortilla is not the best [1], but it's the thought that counts!) For 2.30 euro, I am satiated, relaxed, and leave the bar much better prepared for my exam. There's one waiter in particular who speaks a little bit of English. He speaks to me in English, I speak to him in Spanish. Cafeteria Brothers is located at this square. This is a good spot to catch some sun and just sit in the shade and watch Galician life going on. Brothers has the standard things a bar offers: drinks and some little snacks (like crisps). One of the assets bis the snacks you get with your drinks: with only one sparkling water I got nuts, crisps and a bocata (a small bread with a topping). With coffee you get sweet things like pastel. Some days there is a little podium for musicians. There is no tapas menu, so just come here for the drinks! What I like about this square is that you will barely find any strangers (like yourself) and you will be surrounded by locals who go here at night to meet their friends and family. For me a holiday does not get any better, just enjoying these simplicity of normal life: a nice drink, kids laughing, birds chirping, sun on your skin.

Because of the strong breeze from the ocean, I asked the waiter if I could be seated inside. He was a very jovial and friendly guy and had no problem with this. He promptly brought out my cafe solo with a standard bizcocho (the little cakes you can purchase at the supermarket) and allowed me to revitalize myself. The waiter pulled an excellent shot because it was strong, of the perfect thickness, and had a subtle hint of sweetness towards the bottom of the espresso. The biggest surprise of all was that the espresso cost me 1 euro. The bocadillos were also priced fairly. In such a touristy area, I would have expected much higher prices. Although it is not yet tourist season, I imagine that this bar must be very full once all of the beachgoers arrive. With a spacious patio, there is space for everyone on a sunny day.

It's a Grand Via classic. Tapas a re decent, sometime they offer hot tapas that are much better…read morethan the standard. They recently became a Estrella Galicia Bodega so tap beers are goooood. One of the best things about the cafeteria are the hours, 6AM - 2AM ish. Good service with lots outside seating. Menu is pretty wide and the prices are reasonable. It's also a good place to watch sporting matches as there are several TVs throughout the restaurant.
