When I was going through some things in life recently within the last two years, the people at…read morehelping hands were absolutely amazing. The work that they do for the community is just it's they're just great people. They go above and beyond to help especially the homeless and anybody in need it's just I mean I get overwhelmed with emotion just thinking about how much I appreciate what they did for me. If you ever need any help I would definitely call them and get the help that you need because they will do everything they can to help you. I promise you they're true Christians and they follow the teachings of Jesus. There's nothing fake about anybody up and they make you feel welcome they make you feel like you're seen heard and cared about. They go out of their way to make sure that you know that there are people out there that you care about you and you're going through something in life.

I previously filed an internal complaint regarding a specific volunteer's conduct named Don. This was my complaint within the location about two months ago: "I am very disappointed with the way this food pantry is being handled by a Volunteer named DON. We have been coming here for a long time, and every single visit is marred by the behavior of a staff member named Don. Don is consistently disrespectful, particularly toward individuals who are not fluent in English. It is heartbreaking to see people in need being treated with such hostility. I have filed formal complaints with management, but absolutely nothing has changed. A place meant to help the community should not tolerate someone who treats that same community with such prejudice and disrespect. You need to look into removing him,I hope the members here see his behavior and do something about it immediately". Since that time, we have been characterized as "difficult" by other staff members. Today, we were informed that our cards have been revoked and we are no longer allowed to receive food at this site. We believe this is direct retaliation for voicing our concerns and constitutes a discriminatory practice. We are asking that the Houston Food Bank investigate this partner agency's conduct and their process for revoking service to families in need especially a pregnant mother in need. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, regardless of their circumstances.

No One should receive money for poor service and NOT doing their jobs. I almost feel like it's my duty to make sure they no longer have donations, charitable events, and/or sponsors Ever Again. Last night was the second time I used DonateStuff/Purple Heart, only to see my items still on my lawn the next morning. The first time, I was in an apartment and guaranteed by someone on the phone that someone would "show". They did NOT show and I received a FINE from my apartment complex. I contact someone higher up and cannot think of the contact information and they resolved the situation immediately the next morning. That is the reason why, I gave them another chance BUT now I do not think anyone deserves a job or profit over there. It is using people whom actually been through something (Vets,Lupus, high risk children, etc) as a pawn and making a profit WITHOUT helping and providing for them. It's NO WAY, the way this is ran, they're actually giving to the Organizations and I wholeheartedly believe that. And I ONLY donate quality items... I am done.

I called around 5 pm because no one came. They said they didnt have a code to enter the gate. (which they didn't need because its manned 24 hours AND they could have called if they did in fact come by) I rescheduled for the next morning. I informed them that I had ALOT of boxes. I moved them back inside and out the next morning. The truck arrives around 4pm. The driver gets out and proceeds to let me know he cannot pick up all these boxes and I will need to call and reschedule a pick up for items he can't load. I explained that I informed the office on a couple occasions that there were ALOT of boxes. He said it's their problem in the office and it happens all the time. His attitude from the time he arrived was grumpy and rude. He then proceeds to put a couple boxes on the back of his truck, climbs up and throws the boxes to the front of his truck! I heard glass breaking and I'm pretty sure most of the items were damaged! These items were not junk and were in perfect condition. We were moving and I was downsizing in a lot of areas. So I started putting the rest of the boxes in the garage so he could leave. I was shocked and I will not be calling them in the future. I called because I have a son that was in the army and I wanted to offer support to their cause. These items could have helped several families. Needless to say I did not call them to reschedule the pick up. I did use another company and they were courteous and happy to assist.
