We not only dealt with the original corneal problems but when I asked about corrective laser surgery he walked me through what the process would look like and saw me repeatedly over several months to make sure my eyes were ready for the procedure. My insurance switched in the middle and he even made an exception for that! I had dry eyes so he put me on a regimen of different drops in order to prep my eyes for the surgery. We did the PRK procedure which has a bit longer recovery time than lasik but less complications down the road. It was uncomfortable/painful for around 3 days and it has been fine ever since. My vision went from a prescription of about -7.00 to 20/20 vision in several weeks! I have never seen this clearly since I was a young child. I can now go swimming and do many activities which were more complicated when I could only wear glasses. Dr Pilavas was extremely patient throughout, called me several times after the procedure to make sure I was fine and returned all my calls when I had a question or concern. I am now 5 weeks post op and the only eye drops I'm taking are to deal with dryness which has also been progressively getting better in the past few weeks. In summary-- Highly recommended! My deepest gratitude to Dr Pilavas for being so attentive and caring throughout the many months so that everything goes smoothly.

I couldn't look up doctor reviews on the Cigna website so I looked up Dr. Pilavas on Zocdoc. Making reservation was a breeze and Dr. Pilavas actually gave me a phone call to confirm my appointment. I went the week of 6/1, when the office is still closed for non-emergency visits. My condition didn't really call for urgent checkup, but I was lucky to have my appointment set right away. Once I was at the office, there was around an hour wait. However, the doctor was considerate and explained that he has been busy tending to other patients who needed immediate care. Dr. Pilavas was friendly and gently explained to me what's going on with my eye. It turns out the condition is nothing to worry about and I am glad that I visited Dr. Pilavas. With my Cigna open access insurance I had to pay $45 for the copay. It was quite a pleasant experience so I'd recommend Dr. Pilavas for anyone looking for eye care.

We've been coming to see him and the muscle specialist for close to 3 years now. I can't say enough good things about the doctors. Unfortunately, our latest visit wasn't the best. I was told I had to pay for my visit due to the fact I had a deductible. I've worked with insurances before and I have never heard about paying for a visit especially if Dr Haller is in network. I ended up paying because my son has to see the specialist almost every 4 months and we couldn't wait any longer. Low and behold I called my insurance company and they told me that the office should have NEVER made me pay for my visit, except for a co pay, because once again Dr Haller is in network. I called the office and they told me that Dr Haller is a specialist as well and that I did actually have to pay for the visit. At this point was pretty upset with the situation and will hopefully get my refund once everything works itself out. I did notice that there are new front desk girls, maybe that has something to do with it.

The only reason I decided to go to Clearview Ophthalmology in the first place was because they…read moreaccepted my insurance provider. I thought that the two positive reviews here on Yelp meant that it would go smoothly. It did not. First and foremost, the main eye doctor there has horrible hours. I arrived around 9:30 for my appointment (the earliest I could get - great for those of us who work regular hours) and the guy waltzes in around 10:30 or so. I don't think I saw him until 11:00 or 11:15, only to find out that he doesn't do contact lens prescriptions, only eye glasses. Now, this may have partially been my fault because when I originally called I assumed whoever I saw would be able to write me the prescription and therefore only asked for a routine eye exam. Still, nobody thought to ask me the reason for my visit during the hour and a half that I sat around waiting to see the doctor? Since the contact lens doctor was not in on that day, and I had already paid them for my visit, it was agreed that what I paid that day would go towards my next visit, when the correct doctor was in. I made an appointment for the following week. The next week, I receive a phone call a day or two before my appointment, confirming the day and time. Great! So today I walk back down there for the second time, and what does the receptionist tell me? The contact lens doctor isn't in today, even though she typically is in on Fridays. My response was, "Why didn't anybody think to call me and tell me this, before I walked all the way down here?" No response. I told the receptionist that I wanted my money back and that I was going somewhere else, to which she said the manager would have to do the refund and she's not in for another hour or so. When I called back I spoke to the manager and she told me that the charge would be refunded to my card that day or the next morning. Well, the next morning came and went and still no refund. When I tried to call (Saturday, 11:45am) I went through the prerecorded menu and eventually ended up at a message saying that they were closed. Well, they're website says they're open 10-1 on Saturdays sooo.... Who knows if I'll ever get my money back from these people. The point is, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE if at all possible. Avoid these idiots like the plague.

Good morning Please be advised…read more This message is for Artis L. Beatty OD and Sandipkumar Patel OD July 7th 2026-Tuesday My mother and I went to My Eye Dr. 38-03 Broadway Astoria NY 11102 718-956-3000 (Former American Eye Care Dr. Mark R Stadlen OD) for annual appointments. We both were scheduled for 3pm and 3:30pm by Peter. Paperwork was filled out for our charts and Mr. Zion assisted us very pleasant, attentive and helpful. My mother and I completed Eye exams with Zion and Peter and had a great visit with the doctor on duty due to Dr. Van being on vacation. Very great doctors. Never a problem with the doctors. We both are very displeased with the experience we had at the My Eye Dr. Queens location due to the unprofessionalism displayed from your staff members Hailey, Peter and General Manager, Rob Morrison. After seeing the doctor, doctor advised us to wait at the counter until one of the staff members came to assist. It took time for someone to come to the counter due to staff taking breaks and helping other customers. I was seen first by the doctor and no one was available to assist me with picking out the eye glasses so I went back in the room with my mother for her appointment. Once all appointments were completed my mother and I waited at the eye glass table escorted by the doctor. No one came over to serve us. Hailey was outside on a break vape smoking and Peter was on the computer Still waiting at the counter. General Manager, Mr. Rob was assisting a couple that just walked in never once did he acknowledge us at the counter. My mother asked Hailey if someone was going to come to the counter to assist. Then Hailey bumped into mother and didn't say sorry rude behavior. Still waiting at the counter. Rob was already upset due to the fact that we had a grievance letter to show him and staff member, Zion presented it to Rob and his facial expressions changed as if he was angry so he continued to make us wait. Zion put the grievance letter in our folder for review and discussion with Rob. Rob has overcharged my mother over $150 for bifocals lens over the years and the allowance always covered the expenses. Years of 2024 and 2025 multiple bills were sent to my mother for payment after paying the first amount but after a thorough investigation Health First discovered that the amounts that were spent should have not been paid. Peter comes over to serve the couple and while he's serving them with eyeglasses my mother asks Peter when will we be served and he replied he didn't know. We were next to be taken care of. This is totally unacceptable so the lady customer that was standing at the counter and started throwing up her hands and fingers and I intervened because no one was going to hit my mother. No one was aggressive but the couple but they were still served. Rob finally comes over after ignoring us the whole time and makes a comment, "Let's act like adults!" So this is where the commotion started. Still waiting to pick out eyeglasses. Unacceptable. I don't know if Rob was intoxicated or under the influence but he was acting very strange yelling at the customers me and my mother throwing his hands up and expressing are we ready to pick out the eye glasses and then kept changing his mind. Rob refuses to serve us but served the other couple that was served just by waking in. Cash customers first over insurance customers? What is going on here? Then Zion was trying to serve us so we can pick out our eye glasses however, Rob stopped the service and instructed Zion to take our appointment out the system. So our information was shredded. This is unacceptable. On the same day I contacted my mother's health insurance company to make a complaint and this matter is under investigation. My father also attended the same eye doctor location and Rob agreed to let us come back to pick out our eye glasses in 6 days from 7/14/26. Haven't heard anything as of yet. Contacted My Eye Dr. Spoke to Ava and have not heard anything from the District Manager, Mr. Erin. Thank you
