I began seeing Dr. Taylor after about 6 months of chronic groin pain that had returned as a result of antibiotic use, prostatitis, and nerve strain. In addition, I had a locked-up sacrum and some spinal scoliosis. I had been to several urologists, acupuncturists, chiropractors, and pain specialists. I had tried auto-immune diets, tricyclic antidepressants, steroidal pain blocks, etc. Over a few months, we reasoned through the groin pain, hatched several action plans, and in the process, made real progress against the pain, and definitely corrected some spinal alignment issues I'd had since childhood. There are so few doctors who practice Osteopathic Manipulation (OMM or OMT), especially in New York. While Dr. Taylor does not accept health insurance, his office assistant is provide a detailed bill that is easy to submit for out-of-network insurance coverage. When I was searching for DOs in New York who practice OMT, I went to many who either did not spend any time or effort in the session or had no idea what they were doing. Dr. Taylor upholds the incredible legacy of osteopathy by being perceptively hands-on, spending time with his patients, and refusing to rush judgements.

His treatments are gentle but beyond effective. The best part: I got in an accident last year that left one of my septums deviated. Doctors said I needed surgery to breathe out of that nostril again. Dr. Taylor worked his magic and after two minutes I could breathe out of BOTH nostrils. I still can. He saved me from surgery with just a few minutes of expertly-applied adjusting. Thank you!! Highly, highly recommend this place if you have any kind of body pain, headaches, etc.

I had the good graces to find him because I was researching about my symptoms and found that prolotherapy might help. I chose Dr. Juhl over the other NYC prolotherapists based on the simple fact that I liked his face. Dr. Juhl gave me an exceedingly thorough intake that included even looking at my nails (he identified a "digestive disturbance" that happened about 2 months ago, based on how far the ridge was from my cuticles). This was to gather information about what was going on in my back and pelvis. I was extremely impressed to find someone thinking so holistically about my body and symptoms. He advised against prolotherapy and recommended I get an MRI because I was exhibiting some signs of having a serious condition called cauda equina syndrome. I pushed to have it done ASAP, he found me a place that would see me the next day (Saturday). He called the MRI place to make sure I got there OK. On a Saturday. He called to make sure they read the results ASAP. On a Saturday. He called me the instant he got the results. On a Saturday. He was patient, gentle, and kind, through and through. He is incredibly thorough and extremely knowledgeable. He gave me enough information to make informed choices on my own, without pressing me one way or another (surgery or no surgery). He took extra time with me and didn't charge me for it. He referred me to some neurosurgeons, and after learning that I did go through with the surgery at the neurosurgeons' recommendation (I did have cauda equina), he called me several days later to see how my recovery was going. I have never felt in more caring hands in the medical industry. My only regret is that I found him just before I moved from NYC--I would have loved to have him as a practitioner for my entire time there.

His medical knowledge is only surpassed by his intuition. His intuition is only surpassed by years of experience. His years of experience are only surpassed by his commitment to learning from every patient. I've gone to him over the years for severe pain. I always leave in less pain, and sometimes no pain. And it lasts -- he makes long-term adjustments. I recommend Dr. Waldron unequivocally. One star removed because he doesn't accept insurance -- let's keep it real. The person I spoke to kept impressing upon me that the in-person consultation is free, as if the only barrier for me was the cost of the consultation. If you have chronic pain that makes traveling difficult, you don't want to travel unnecessarily - even if it's free! I have no idea where this falls it could be $100/session or $900 -- this is NYC -- and I don't think it's absurd to want to know before I go. I'm so disappointed because this was the most conveniently located place for me with the least travel, but not none. And this makes me think that what they offer in compassion (as per reviews) they lack in flexibility.

TLDR: definitely recommend Brooklyn Acupucnture!…read more Long version: I love Brooklyn Acupuncture medicine. I had no acupuncture experience at all until November 2023 when I began experiencing physical anxiety symptoms that I never had before (it felt like my heart was being tickled, I felt faint, and almost nauseous for days at a time, it was hard to describe to others aside from just being able to feel my heart in a way I hadn't before and it was uncomfortable). I had a complete cardio workup and everything looked good so I decided to give acupuncture a try. Rez made me feel comfortable during our consultation before selling me on a treatment of 10 sessions. It really doesn't make sense to begin this treatment (though a one-off might be relaxing) unless you can commit to a full treatment. I worked with her from November to June, eventually tapering off to every two weeks. I have been doing other things as well (new therapist, group therapy) but I believe the wellness I feel now is definitely in part due to sitting with Rez and all of the lovely folks who work there. Definitely a culturally competent group in terms of sexual orientation, race, and gender identity. They remember me and you can tell they treat everyone there well and with respect; it's a nice community . Superbills and documentation provided quickly and I liked having reminder texts about my appointments. I haven't had an anxiety episode like that in months and I just feel like I can handle things better and am way less overwhelmed. For overprocessors like me (see the length of this message for proof) you should try working with these folks to take a different route to healing and learning. I love Brooklyn Acupuncture and see myself going back at various times for tuneups- not to mention when I start to experience physical symptoms likes back aches and pains. Feeling gratitude for Rez and the team at BAM!
