Shantel does some minor editing and the pictures turn out really natural, so it's not too much which I prefer. Shantel must be one of the most creative people I've ever met. She's done several photo shoots for us in different themes (Christmas, Easter, newborn and family pics after our second was born) and every time we were very pleased about the results. SLB Photography looks for nice backdrops and props according to your style or requests. We've never really given her any suggestions and just let her do what she felt was right for the occasion, and we don't have any regrets! When you book a session with SLB Photography, don't expect to come in a professional photo studio. Shantel does the photo shoots at her house (or on location), but I feel like this is definitely a plus if you have a session with kids! Because she has a toddler, there are plenty of things/toys to distract your kids during the session or in between while Shantel changes her sets. She's also really good with the kids. I would give SLB Photography 5 stars but only gave her 4 because I wouldn't be able to give her more stars in the future, because I'm sure when she gets even more experienced that her work would be absolutely perfect!

We were hoping to get photos done before our son's 1st birthday and she was able to provide us with a great date/time option. We really lucked out. On the day of our shoot we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The drive to the studio was beautiful and worth it - we drove from over 30 minutes away. The studio was immaculate and ready to go for our time together. Her prep email was extremely detail oriented and let us know exactly what to expect. Once there we could easily see the setups and there was a perfect place for us to finish getting ready. Even though we brought most of our outfits she also offered an additional one for us to use and it photographed so lovely. Lastly, the cake smash session was literally the icing on the cake. Having known Chris since High School and having worked with him as an assistant for a wedding he photographed, I knew who he was, I knew his style and I knew his equipment. Before walking into the meeting, I had practically made my mind up already that he was who we would book, but I wanted Justin to meet him and I wanted to get those "warm fuzzies" from our conversation. After the meeting, we were thrilled to choose Chris to photograph our big day! First came our engagement shoot; like I said, I am also a photographer, but my goal was to act as though I had never held a camera in my life. Chris and his wife April took the reigns and helped Justin and I with the entire shoot from start to finish. When we saw the final product, we were over the moon!! With the engagement pictures out of the way, we certainly looked forward to what our photos would look like from our BIG day! Prior to our wedding day, Chris took the time to get every detail straight regarding wants/needs to ensure our wedding day was seamless. He showed up with a list on our wedding day of everything that we had discussed! During our ceremony and reception, Chris and his assistant were all over the place but never came across as invasive.
