As a retired…read moreMilitary member I requested a dental cleaning with my new patient appointment and the receptionist was vague and wouldn't confirm that this would be available. After speaking to my insurance on the phone in the office the receptionist was told my insurance pays 100% of all preventive care and 80% of normal dentistry care. I requested to know what the fee would be. I was informed that they would charge me $150 for a 20% copay. To be clear they wanted to charge me $750 for an initial patient intake and possible X-rays. When asked why my insurance doesn't cover this, the receptionist told me that they said they would, however, they would still charge me and then possibly reimburse me "IF"'the insurance company paid enough. So in summary the dental office wants patients to finance their operations and double dip with insurance. This is not the way a reputable dental office works. I requested all of my paperwork and told the receptionist I would find a more ethical dental office. In response to the DR Response. I am a RETIRED military member with some of the best dental insurance out there. It pays 100%. You in fact were the one that told me that you never worked with TRICARE or a delta Dental and didn't trust them. It's almost a joke, but it reads more like double dipping and insurance fraud.

I will try to get this out as best as possible. I chose this provider because they had almost nothing but 5 star reviews. However, my experience has been nothing but a 1-star as of lately. I first went in on Feb 7th 2024 for a full consultation as I needed 23 teeth pulled and dentures. My teeth were horrible!! I have UHC with 5k yearly spending so it's a very good plan. They did my exam and gave me a statement / quote saying the full work would be around $3200, but that sometimes that amount varies by a few hundred. Okay no big deal Fast forward to the appointment. I had to wait until April 2nd due to saving up the money. I go in and pay my $50 deductible, and the estimated cost of $2500 for the work being done that day. Well, everything goes well outside normal issues with teeth removal, and I go home. 2 Weeks later I get the EOB from insurance informing me that they are NOT in network as they told me several times they were and that my cost was already 5k + for only half the work being done. I call in as it must be a mistake and I'm told that there has to be an issue that the Dentist will call UHC and find out why they are no longer in network and get it fixed, but in the meantime to keep getting services lets setup a payment arrangement and you can be reimbursed. So, I agreed to 1k monthly thinking this would be resolved. Well May 24th I go get the rest of the work done, and insurance kicks back again and bam another 6k I owe. At this point insurance has paid 4.5k to the provider and the provider is billing me another 12k. 16.5k in and all I've had done is 23 teeth pulled and immediate dentures. I still need perm dentures. On top of this, I have been unable to wear my dentures and have been losing weight due to not being able to eat as there are complications I cant get fixed due to the cost..... This is a very clear switch and bait. Quoting 3k and it being over 14k is not a minor quoting mistake. I am now looking into lawyers and know there will be a fight on my hands. Please save yourselves from this trouble.

So I chose Abbeville Dentistry for that reason. I had a crown come off then remain tooth broke. Decided to get an implant but was nervous. Dr. Burke extracted very broken tooth no pain and did bone graph for future implant. I am so happy I chose Dr. Burke as my dentist to perform extraction and implant. Plus no need to go to another dentist implant, extraction, fillings and other procedures are fine in horse. Awesome Dentist and staff is so nice al also.

I needed a root canal on one of my teeth where my bridge was. I was able to get in quickly and have it done. I absolutely HATE going to the dentist. I would rather do anything than go. I get extreme anxiety. Well I didn't have any of that with them. They gave me meds to take before the procedure and I didn't feel a thing. I had little to no pain afterwards either. I would highly recommend this Abbeville location. The price was great too.
