Every teacher we've interacted with has been warm, patient, and genuinely caring toward the kids. It's clear they know each child individually and put a lot of thought into supporting their development and emotional well-being. What stands out most is how attentive and nurturing the teachers are. They create a classroom environment where children feel safe, encouraged, and excited to learn. We often see them getting down to the kids' level to talk with them, guide them through challenges, and celebrate their small victories. That kind of care makes a big difference. Communication has also been great. The teachers are approachable and willing to share updates or discuss anything related to our child's day, which we really appreciate as parents. Overall, we feel grateful that our child is surrounded by such dedicated educators. Their kindness, patience, and commitment to the children really show, and it makes this preschool a wonderful place for little ones to grow and learn.

I wanted to better connect with the language associated with my heritage, so I decided to invest the time and money to learn Tagalog. I took the Level 1 hybrid course with Rhya in early summer 2026. Overall, it provided a great foundation for introductory grammar and vocab for Tagalog. By the end of the first course, you quickly become comfortable being able to ask simple questions (like where are you from? what's your name?), answering with affirmative/negation statements, and even being able to ask "how much/how many" with Tagalog numbers right off the bat. The class structure felt perfect, with the small class sizes. The course was very interactive, as we were constantly engaging and practicing the language throughout each course. And of course, it provided a safe space to make mistakes and grow with the language. If we made a mistake, Rhya would walk us through our mistake to help understand where it was and why the correct answer was provided. The class structure was also perfect for my work schedule. There were times I had to travel for work and miss a lecture. Because I was signed up for the hybrid course, I was provided class recordings after each session, allowing me to catch up and not feel left behind. The sessions are definitely catered to working adults, with all courses being offered in the evenings. Each session was 90 mins long each week for 7 weeks. I learned a lot from Level 1, and I'm excited to continue on to Level 2!

The instructor that I had, Keiko is great. She is very patient and always willing to help. (The courses can be fast though depending the language and the books being used). They seem to use a mix of media (e.g. slides, Quizlet, etc. which is good). FYI - it is near SJC - San Jose Int'l airport and the jets taking off can be somewhat loud at times.

The project based and play based curriculum for three and four-year-olds is truly unique and engaging. Unlike many traditional Chinese schools, they also focus on children's social emotional development, and my daughter has matured substantially in this area. Helen and Teresa are wonderful and made time to meet with me anytime I had concerns. CLF doesn't offer any of that. When you sign up CLF, you are there to learn Chinese. Guess what? Students learn Chinese though regular activities like singing, performing, cooking, science projects. Last key point: CLF fosters a healthy culture of handwork and effort. Not purely on how fluent/good you are with Chinese. Students who don't have the opportunity to practice at home can equally feel empowered and recognized. On rainy days, you can see teachers escorting the kids with their umbrellas up and down the stairs. Now that is caring!

If you have any background in a language I would suggest you refresh yourself and test into something other than the intro course. Starting at the beginning was perfect for me since I have never studied French before, but it was very, very basic stuff. Had I taken that level for a language I had previously studied I think I would have been bored. Pros: - Conveniently located to the 84 and 101 (and Caltrain?) - Convenient times after work - Great way to sample a new language to see if you're really interested in it. - You get to keep the text book (they are used, mine had writing it...) Cons: - When you are only meeting once a week it's really easy to say: "I'll study this weekend." "I'll study tomorrow." "Oh crap, class is tonight, I better study." - Cost - it's roughly $40 a class (give or take) so if you're going to stick with it long term it's going to add up. A college course may be cheaper (though with the way college tuition is these days maybe not?). Private lessons seem to run $30-$40+ an hour, so I think their costs are reasonable. It just adds up over time, which hurts my head when I do the math... - $50 one time set-up fee per student

Our younger daughter had Zhang Laoshi, who was the most kind, warm, and nurturing teacher who really helped her feel comfortable during the preschool transition. LACS plans thoughtful and creative projects, and they really help children grow independently. They foster an environment where young children can build their social skills, which was a priority for us. Another bonus is the extra-curricular activities that happen at the school, so you don't have to drive them somewhere on other days (ballet, drumming, music, etc). They also love English lessons with Miss Eleanor. The rest of the leadership are responsive and caring, and I appreciate the daily updates on how they ate/slept. It's a smaller community, so the teachers and staff really get to know the families well. It's also convenient because they run the afterschool Chinese program at the LASD schools, as well as the vacation/summer camps, so when students graduate from the preschool, they still have opportunities to interact with their old teachers. We are so happy to have LACS in our community.

We've done 2-3 weeks every summer at the Los Altos location, and this is literally the only camp they've asked to return to every single year. What makes Imagineerz special is that it genuinely grows with the kids. It's not a camp they age out of. The program is designed for them to take on more responsibility and leadership as they get older. My girls have spent the last couple years as "leads," helping create and perform the weekly show, learning lines, designing sets, working with younger campers, and figuring out how to pull together a great show with the younger kids. Now they're simultaneously sad to leave that stage behind and also so excited to move into the next level where they'll take on more responsibility for helping the younger kids and supporting running the camp. They already talk about becoming counselors in the future! There's a real philosophy behind the camp. Kids have agency and are encouraged to be creative/bold, and trusted with meaningful responsibility for their age. The staff is also exceptional. Many return every year, including former campers who have grown up through the program, so there's a sense of community that I haven't see as much with other camps. They're fun and goofy with the kids, but also super thoughtful and attentive. We've gotten notes about small moments when one of our daughters showed kindness or leadership, which makes our girls SO proud. I especially appreciate that they notice kids as individuals and reinforce the moments when they work through challenges or help someone else. And importantly, my kids just LOVE it. There are theme days, costumes, water Wednesday, weekly performances, and silly camp traditions. After all these years and multiple weeks they still can't wait to go back. We don't have that with any other camp besides sleepaway. It's rare to find a program where you completely trust the people caring for your kids AND your kids love being there. We're five summers in, and I hope my girls are still part of this community when they're in high school. ICan 't recommend it enough (you'll get the joke if you join :) )

We signed up for 2 weeks at the Palo Alto location last year and 2 weeks at the Los Altos location this summer. There are a few things that make this camp special: among them are the really nice staff, LITs, and Junior LITs (Leaders in Training). They're often older kids who love this program so much that they return to help younger kids out with creative building from recycled materials. As an example, my son had an idea of attaching a toilet paper tube to a box, and one of the Jr LITs showed him how to cut the tube in a way to attach more securely to the box. My son really bonded with Salsa last year and looked forward to seeing him again this year. Another highlight is the play that they work on and perform on the last day. Everyone gets a chance to bring the play to life, whether it's a speaking part of working on props. My son's always had a wonderful time making his own costume in the earlier days of the camp.
