You receive a number and are asked to be seated based on whether you have an appointment or not. There is a bathroom, which was clean. The air in the waiting room was nice (not stuffy or hot). When your number is called, you go to a window to be helped. Please be patient as there are only a few people taking care of many and the time slots are limited. Two...hours...later...a friendly voice greeted me and was very helpful and thorough with answering questions. While setting an SSA appointment the rep discovered an error and determined the root cause. Since their system had my phone and email info, I received reminders and information including an advance check-in weblink for when we arrived. I followed the link instructions and promptly received my ticket number before we got out of the car. There were a couple of people inside the lobby among the rows of seats towards the right when entering. The information TV screens and kiosk were to the left. Office SSA reps worked behind glass and each space provided two chairs with partitions separating customers for semi-privacy. We spent less than 5 minutes in the lobby after checking in online from the parking lot. Our SSA rep was friendly and helpful, answering questions and providing reasonable expectations of next steps after concluding the appointment in roughly 30 minutes to resolve why we needed to stop by in person. If you have an online account. I'd highly recommend taking that route, but if you must go the SSA office, be ready to endure the steps for making an appointment and be prepared with all necessary documents.

Half of Ocean Beach (mostly businesses) loves this Police Dept. trailer that has been parked in the…read moremiddle of the OB Pier parking lot at the foot of Newport Ave. for what seems like forever. Officially, it is there because the OB Police storefront was closed a few years back & this is a way of keeping some kind of "police presence" in the beach area. But many others think it is bogus and needs to move. According to a story in a recent Peninsula Beacon newspaper, this Police trailer was put in place in 1999 and supposed to have been only temporarily situated there. But the years dragged on, and the Police Trailer is said to house just a cop bathroom and a break area for police to kick back and write reports. Many in the Ocean Beach community begrudge the cops their blue trailer for taking up precious parking spaces in the always crowded lot and feel the cops should move it over to Robb Field--where there is more room and just as much crime. The big news is a citizen has filed a complaint against the trailer and now the Police Dept. is having to get a permit to park it in the lot from the California Coastal Commission! So because the Police Trailer does provide some kind of "police presence" in the parking lot area where druggies and penniless vagrants roam free, I gave it 3 YELP STARS. But I also deducted 2 YELP STARS due to the trailer being a view-blocking, parking space-clogging eyesore that rubs it into the faces of OBceans that THE MAN is always watching them. Maybe the Coastal Commission will deny them a permit and they can haul the trailer somewhere else. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
