    Cajun Cheddar

Stopped in to see this small town. So cute. Santa's candy castle was a must stop and I will tell you they have the best popcorn. I purchased a bag of the Cajun Cheddar. The cheese on this popcorn was thick and it melted in your mouth. The cajun flavor had just enough kick! The cost was $5 which I thought was a little pricy for the size of the bag but after eating it I wish I had bought more. I am not a big popcorn person but other than Zebra popcorn this is the best I have ever had. The picture is of the few pieces I had left over because I forgot to take a picture when I first got it. Must stop at the castle in Santa Claus. for all the fun nostalgic candies you can handle, plus gourmet popcorn and tasty frozen hot chocolate to top of the sweet day. Fun for the kids, fun for the adult kids and worth every sweet penny. Fun candies every holiday and every day since December 1935 making it the first themed attraction in America.

They've got everything a kid could love! It's so cute! From the outside it looks tiny. I could not believe the amount of people inside. The line was huge. The prices seemed comparable to other candy shops. The kids were buying these $7 cards to do things on the computer. I think they were talking to Santa. They make flavored popcorn and fudge. They've got old and new candy The great thing about tonight is, they were roasting chestnuts over the fire. OMG! I was fascinated! I've never gotten the chance to do this! I was so excited to have my daughter do this! No interest whatsoever. I absolutely loved the experience.!

What a fun place with lots of goodies. Its fun to see candies you used to eat when you were a kid, brings back such good memories. They have one room with just jellie bellies its pretty cute. They also have some unique candies like the lollipops with scorpions yikes! The place inside has a fireplace all decorated for Christmas. The outside looks like a castle so a great spot to take pictures. They have a spot also where they have hot chocolate and frozen hot chocolate. They have many flavors of the hot chocolate. You'll also see souvenirs like shirts, sweaters ect. Very cool place to visit.

Amusing little tourist attraction, shaped like a castle. Lots of candy options and their frozen hot chocolate was actually pretty tasty (thou sugary!). We also got some homemade Fudge and chocolate turtles, which were pretty good too.

What a cute little place! They have a very large selection of candy. There is a room devoted to Jelly Belly and one is devoted to Pez. There are two others rooms filled with new and unique candies and old nostalgic candy. They also have homemade candies and FROZEN HOT CHOCOLATE! It was so delicious! If you drink the large frozen hot chocolate called "The Avalanche", you get a bumper sticker and your picture on the wall! This was a neat little stop.

My kids loved it! They would because they love sugar. The Fudge was delicious. We went in May of 2014.

We especially loved the heart shaped red hot candies. They give out samples to taste. The red hots are perfect! Not burn your mouth hot! I bought several bags to take home to friends in California. We enjoyed exploring the museum room with all of the candy tins from years past. They have original candy making equipment and all of the history to offer a nostalgic experience. Be sure to try the marshmallow, chocolate carmel and pecan treat. The Modjeskas definitely came home with us to share with family and friends. I love these little town treasures!

Now, imagine the nuggets were sold by the pound, and you paid for the extra ones you didn't want. I fully accept the fact that I might be wrong, but when I sat down just outside, I found more than I'd expected/wanted, and I paid for it. Okay... maybe it was an "oopsie-doodle", it was near my birthday, so all is forgiven. What about the chocolates? I can't deny that the selection is amazing, however, where it comes to quality, I have to admit I was not blown away. That isn't to say I felt they weren't great - they were! At the same time, there are other candy stores with similar products and concepts whose products are no worse. So, what does that leave us with? Schimpff's Confectionery is a very good, old-timey candy store. However, while I can't say their ranking as #1 best candy store in America in 2025 by USA Today is undeserved. However, I personally wouldn't go too far out of my way to get some of their chocolate candies.

The Sweet Spot is less edgy (you won't find any "Fidel Castro's Havana Banana" soda here) but just as delightful for all ages - perhaps most of all for the adults who are fresh off a "Kentucky High-5" from Against the Grain down the street. Whether you're after regular packaged candy or the fancy glass-counter offerings, you'll find that the selection here is well above average. The staff is terrific and the prices really aren't bad for a specialty store like this. My favorite part is the soda cooler, which is reasonable at two bucks a bottle and contains some genuinely unexpected regional favorites. A visit to The Sweet Spot is your chance to finally try Double Cola in a glass bottle, enjoy a taste of Kansas City with some Atomic Fizz, or embrace your inner Evansvillian with some West Side Water (a.k.a. Ski). If you start regularly walking Bardstown Road, you just might find yourself visiting The Sweet Spot more than you expect. A true delight.
