Wow, what a great find (albeit more pricey than I'd expected)! Mum and I were in town to check out…read morethe World Press Photo 2018 Winners exhibition being held at the WTC, and afterward, wanted to have an Indian Vegetarian dinner, before heading back to Amsterdam. This restaurant popped up with the high reviews, and it was also perfectly situated in between the WTC and Rotterdam Centraal station. We made our way up an elevator to the restaurant (there's two restaurants here, one Indian and one Chinese) and the dining room is a massive, well laid out and luxurious space. Our meal consisted of the following items: 1) Papads with chutney as an amuse bouche - there were two papad and served with a trio of chutneys. I loved the mango chutney while my mum liked the yogurt more. We were indifferent about the mint chutney. 2) A little tomato soup as starter - this was sent to us compliments of the chef and it was delicious. A mix between soup and tomato water with a beautiful curried taste twisting thru each sip 3) Aqua Panna (25ml aka small bottle) which was €2.20 - ouch thought this was expensive. 4) Vegatable Saffron Korma came which came with Yogurt (€18) - this was a wonderful medley of vegetables in a beautifully creamy sauce. Very tasty and my mum's fave dish. 5) Apple Brinjal (eggplant/ aubergine) masala (€17) - I've never heard of this combination before and it was so amazing! The tartness of the apple cut thru the earthiness of the eggplant. My fave dish of the night! 6) Vegetable Biryani (€17.50) - The taste of the vegetables used was very similar to the Saffron Korma. If we hadnt had the Korma, would have enjoyed the Biryani better. 7) 1 Tandoori Roti (€3.95) - pretty decent and well-cooked, but a bit on the small size. It's not a 5-stars, despite how good the food was, because of some issues with service. Firstly, we'd ordered a 2nd Tandoori Roti, which never came. Second issue was when instead of the Vegetable Biryani we had ordered, we actually served the Chicken Biryani instead, and we flagged the waiter to get this corrected. Thirdly, the Vegetables used in the Biryani were also massively similar in taste to the Korma, so that was a double up with the same taste, rather than the Veg Biryani having its own distinct flavours. I'd definitely came again however, cause the food flavours were fantastic and innovative. Among the best Indian food I've eaten and looking forward to trying other items on the menu. Yelp 35/ 2019

It was not hard to find as it was straight down from the station on Beukelsdijk Rd. with no turns, perhaps requiring 10 - 12 minutes to reach by foot. The restaurant facade was unobtrusive and matched to the neighborhood. The appearance gave away the small and simple nature of the dining room. I went in on a Sunday evening at around 6:30 and had the place to myself with my choice of seats. The woman who waited on me, who I presumed to be one of the proprietors, was friendly and accommodating. Using English was no problem. The menu offered several favorites but, in spite of this, I was able to find a slight variation on a dish that I had never tried before. I started with a red Dal Soup that was quite good. For my main, I had Chana Chicken, which was chicken with chickpeas in a red curry. It was excellent. It was accompanied by a salad and a small bit of vegetable curry. I also ordered Peshwari Naan. It was all terrific. The curry was very tasty and the Naan was extremely well done. The prices were very reasonable. With a can of sparkling water to drink, my bill came to €21.50. I was very happy with the value. One thing that should be noted is that they did not accept cards. Only cash payment was possible. If I am in the area again, I will definitely consider making a return trip to this place. I was staying at the Holiday Inn Express and found it was only a 20 minute walk. This establishment would work well again under those circumstances.

First of all: it is not how it looks like!…read more If you see this place from outside you are not really craving to eat here. Basic more than simple, table and covers are very normal and old style and the Indian character is quite soft. The most colorful thing of this place is the sign outside with the colors of the Indian flag. A part from the appearance, the most important thing is that the food is good! I never had dinner here, I always preferred to bring food at home. They prepared for me boxes which were always well closed: the dishes arrived home warm and in a perfect shape! I really love the mix vegetable curry and the chana massala, which is a dishes with chickpeas and a special sauce. The dishes I tried were always quite big and of course spicy. With too side dishes I was quite full! It is always a good idea if you are looking for warm, spicy and relatively cheap food.
