I had difficulty finding someone in the therapy field that I clicked with; I understand that's not…read moreuncommon. On a recommendation, I visited Elise. She took the time to inquire about what hadn't worked for me in the past, why I thought that might be, and ultimately, what my personal goals were. It was an extremely pleasant conversation. I could tell right away that I was being heard, and that meant a great deal to me. I worked with her quite a bit in the time since. She has been a perceptive, shining light through some truly difficult and uncomfortable times in my life. Even after moving further away from her office, I made it a point to continue speaking with her regularly. Elise is wonderful. As someone who has found Elise to be super compassionate and (almost unreasonably) patient with my insurance complications, I find it difficult to imagine the 1 star review isn't a petty grievance.

Elise has been incredibly helpful and available to support me in whatever ways I've needed during this time. She is thoughtful and honest, and helps me sort through and face my bullshit. I think selecting a therapist is extremely personal and can be a bit like dating before you find the best fit for you. Perhaps the approach here will be just what you're looking for! I spoke with Elise on the phone for a good while to discuss her approach before making an appointment and meeting in person and found that to be an effective way to determine if her style was best for me. In response to the other review, I must say I've never once get Avondale Therapy was focused on getting my money at all.

Scott McBroom is an absolutely wonderful counselor. I'd like to emphasize that, because of Scott's counseling, I no longer struggle with clinical anxiety or panic attacks. He is extremely compassionate, a critical thinker, constructive, and above all, a kind person who genuinely wants the best for his clients. I would recommend him to anyone, male or female, and I will always be grateful for how much he helped me during a difficult period in my life. Without his help, I can't say that I would be as healthy a person as I am today.

Much of my practice focuses on couples, as I have had extensive training with John Gottman, one of the world's leading experts in couples therapy. It offers couples concrete skills with which to build a more effective relationship. For those seeking a spiritual dimension to counseling, I have extensive experience in faith-based/Christian counseling, but that is offered to those who desire it.
