Dr. Cranford is the best! I had waited for 10 months before I contacted Dr. Cranford. I kept thinking I would get better and honestly, I was embarrassed and didn't want to go to the doc for something like this. I only wish I had gone sooner!! What I thought was a case of hemorrhoids actually turned out to be three different issues: I had hemorrhoids, a fissure, and a fistula. At my first appointment, Dr. Cranford made me feel at ease and embarrassment wasn't an issue at all like I thought it would be. He made me aware of every move he was making during the exam and quickly assessed my problem. I received two treatments that day for the hemorrhoids a couple hours apart. I was scheduled for surgery in his office four days later under local anesthesia. I was very nervous about the surgery but once again Dr. Cranford put my mind at ease and explained everything to me so that I could understand what he would be doing to correct my issues. On surgery day, the only slightly uncomfortable part was the first two numbing shots which was exactly what Dr. Cranford said would be the most uncomfortable part of the procedure. As someone else described, the first two shot only caused a wincing pain but was over quickly. It took all of about 5 minutes to do the actual surgery. From start to finish, I was in the room about 40 minutes total. He gave me detailed after care instructions and even his personal cell number if I needed to contact him for anything. I've never had a doctor do that before. I was really concerned about the recovery time and how painful it might be. I am happy to say that I only took 1/2 a pain pill for not even 2 days and then was able to stop them. The first day the pain was the worst but not horribly bad, honestly just uncomfortable to sit and walk too much but not very painful at all! I was actually shocked at the minimal amount of pain. I was also concerned about having a BM the next day because I thought it would be horribly painful, but it wasn't at all. I was pleasantly surprised and I could tell the surgery made a difference right away. Again, I only wish I would've gone much sooner to see Dr. Cranford! I am so thankful I had this procedure done and so thankful God led me him! He has a great personality, is friendly, talkative, and makes you feel like you matter. I highly recommend Dr. Cranford! read more

The doctor was amazing. Having same day appointments was a lifesaver, and I appreciated how he took the time to explain my recovery.

Dr Cranford is a miracle worker. I was facing very unpleasant, painful surgery for hemorrhoids that had gotten to stage 4--or beyond!--as I had delayed the surgery as long as possible. After 3 days of painless negative galvanic treatment---problem solved. Unbelievable, after all the discomfort I had been living with and the serious surgery I was facing. I wish I had found him years earlier. Dr Cranford is clearly a skilled practitioner offering a really important treatment. He's also a gentle and comforting and empathetic human being. What a treasure. I hope he never retires! read more

Dr Cranford can change your life. When you have problems in this part of your body, they're both painful and embarrassing. It's hard to discuss them and harder even to get them fixed. I went in to Dr Cranford after a surgical procedure at a local hospital. The recovery was not going according to plan and the surgeon admitted that he didn't really understand why. Dr Cranford immediately understood the problem and over the course of a few procedures, all of which were virtually painless and very easy, began the process of getting me better. It's now been about a year since I first went through those doors and I am still extremely glad that I found Dr Cranford and thankful for his expertise and dedication to this field of study. I would go back in a heartbeat. read more

Every once in a while in life, you come across someone who is truly remarkable. Truly... a miracle worker! Dr. Cranford is such a person. A few years ago, my son had some serious anal/intestinal issues. I took him to several doctors, and the prognosis in all cases was grim. He was facing the prospect of severe surgery and a lifetime of misery. Then I took him to Dr. Cranford. He blew both of our minds with how extremely different he was from every other medical practitioner. Night and day. With everyone else, there was a subtle feeling that we were just an assembly-line number, almost as though we were being scammed at some level. In no way was there the slightest sense that the doctor had any genuine caring. Dr. Cranford was the opposite. It was immediately apparent that he cared, not just in a diplomatic way, but sincerely and deeply. Dr Cranford is unique in the way he thinks and interacts; he is extremely blunt and direct, without fluff or small talk. His manner may even take a little getting used to. He gets right to the point and does not mince words. And he is totally 100% committed to an acceptable solution. Clearly, he loves what he does. He comes off as almost 'geeky' in his single-minded focus on the issue at hand. Which is not only different from everyone else, but is what you want. What a welcome relief from everyone else! But the main thing really that sets Dr Cranford apart from all others is his competence. Attitude is one thing, but can he produce results? The answer is a resounding YES! He knows his stuff. In our case, Dr Crandord succeeded with my son where all others said such was impossible. I repeat: he accomplished the impossible! As a result, my son's life was changed for the better and his outlook for the future transformed. To me, that's what qualifies as a true miracle worker! I cannot say enough about Dr. Cranford and the blessing that he is, a gift from heaven, as he walks among us in our society at this time. You come across such a treasure maybe once in a lifetime, and here he is right now in Portland, Oregon. Somehow, the world seems a brighter place with him in it. I know this review may seem glowing and effusive, but this is how I honestly feel regarding this man. I am expressing myself. In the end, words fail to describe my gratitude and appreciation for Dr. Cranford... and just how amazing he is. If you are in need of such a doctor, do yourself a favor and check out Dr. Cranford. You'll see what I mean. And you'll never be the same again. read more

Dr. Cranford fixed me right up after a couple treatments. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Been dealing with itching down there for a handful of years now. Very appreciative to being able to get back on track with my life. Thank you! read more

Dr. Cranford changed my life. Honestly. I thought I had a huge skin tag or external hemorrhoid that was more embarrassing than painful. It was also very difficult to keep that area clean. It turns out it was scar tissue. I had been so self conscious for so long about it. I didn't have insurance and was afraid to go to a rectal doctor because of all the painful experiences I heard about. Instead, I found Dr. Cranford. He made the whole experience comfortable, like I was there for a routine check up. He explained the procedure for removing the scar tissue in detail and accommodated my schedule for the procedures. He performed two procedures on two different days about 2 weeks apart to surgically remove the scar tissue. I was so nervous, mostly about the needles to numb my bum, but it wasn't that bad. Dr. Cranford alleviated all of my fears by talking through every action he took and why. After the first procedure, there was very little pain...I expected a lot more. and I was ready to do the final procedure one or two weeks later to finish the job. Almost immediately after all of the scar tissue was removed, after the second procedure, I could have cried. I think I did cry, I was so happy. Everything was back to normal. Seriously. I could actually, not to be graphic, but just wipe and go. I didn't have to spend an extra ten minutes with wipes or hop in the shower after going to the bathroom. It is amazing how much better I feel physically down there, and emotionally. Dr. Cranford and his assistant really normalized the whole experience..they were knowledgeable, patience, caring and funny, when necessary. I would recommend going there if you have any problems at all down there. He really did change my life! read more

Dr. Cranford is a great doctor! What usually would be an embarrassing situation to talk about, he was very understanding and immediately made me feel at peace. It is with his help and his resources that I'm finally able to overcome a medical condition that has lasted quite a while. I really do appreciate him and his knowledge and would hands down recommend him to anyone in the Portland Metro area that is seeking help with issues "downstairs". Would rate more stars if I could. Thanks Doc! read more

What do you say about a man who basically saved your life? Dr Steven Cranford is truly a miracle worker. I was diagnosed with a serious issue in the one place you don't want to have serious issues. I visited two of the top Gastro surgeons in the state of Oregon. One in Eugene and one in Portland. They both said that I would need major invasive surgery. The catch was that even if this surgery was successful, it would make a huge negative impact on my comfort going forward. I was truly between a rock and a hard place. This was one of the lowest moments of my entire life. Enter Dr Cranford. He suggested trying a very simple in office procedure. I agreed and we went forward with it. The procedure was a huge success. It took care of my issue completely. The best part about it was that I did not have any of the long term negative effects that the major surgeries would have caused. I can't thank Dr Cranford enough. He truly changed my life. I beg you, if you have an issues in the rectal area, visit this man now! He can change your life too.... read more

Dr Cranford helped me with a lifetime of pain. I've had anal fissure problems for over 35 years. I didn't know how to properly care for that area, so it just kept getting worse. Finally I stumbled upon the Sandy Clinic, and have had continuing relief since mid-2013. Dr Cranford expertly removed several hemorrhoids in a nearly-painless process, and coached me on things I could do to help it get better and stay better (minimize time on the pot; only go when urgent; nudge the mass back in gently). I'm deeply grateful for how much better life has been. read more

Ken R. There is still hope in finding a fantastic doctor. i'm a 54 years old very physically active man. However my lifestyle changed 2 years ago do to cronic anal fissure. After following advice of a different doctor to use expensive cream and baths for 2 years it never healed. The pain was so intense during bowel movements it would nearly cause me to pass out and I am one tough cowboy. Dr. Cranford diagnosed me and he took controll of the situation. He saved me from a horrible way to live. He is straight up with information and very knowlegable and discribe the details even with pictures which I see as HEALTH CARE. God gave Dr Cranford a gift of healing so I feel I owe him more then payment for the surgery. Would of given a 5 star but still in healing mode after surgery which I have normal movements now. Thank God for Dr Cranford. read more

I was referred to Dr. Cranford by my midwife after I gave birth. One of the many gifts my daughter gave me during our long and difficult labor was hemorrhoids! I also had severe perineal tearing and lots of stitches. Dr. Cranford was wonderful from the very start. He made me feel at ease in a very uncomfortable situation and he was very cautious with my treatment due to my other injuries. I experienced relief almost right away and after a few visits, ended up almost back to my pre-pregnancy self. I really appreciated how thoughtful he was with my treatment and how informative he was all along the way. read more

My aunt found the Sandy Rectal Clinic 40 years ago and we have been pleased ever since. After years of pain my Mom, 82 years old, finally went back for treatment (she had been happily healed in her 50's). After receiving help from Dr Cranford she was no longer suffering and able to sit comfortably. The office personnel make you feel comfortable with an issue that could be very uncomfortable socially and physically. I hope Dr Cranford never retires! Great guy, great service and literally an answer to prayer. read more

Dr. Cranford does great work. By the time I found out about him I was stuck in bed and miserable, couldn't sit or stand for more than an hour or two a day. Conventional remedies brought no relief. He got me in for an exam the day I called and gave me prescriptions to alleviate a rash and the pain... and they worked like a charm. After three visits in about ten days I have got my life back. The physical changes in response to his therapeutic technique were immediate. I was amazed and so, so grateful! If you need this kind of help, go see him. He is gentle and respectful. He will make sure you are comfortable and get as well as you can as quickly as you can. He does not milk a patient by extending treatments longer than necessary. I highly recommend! read more

I have been going to Sandy Blvd Rectal Clinic for several years for on and off again care. Dr. Crandford is an excellent surgeon. His procedures are non painful. The most discomfort I've experienced would be the same as chugging a whole bottle of coke at once. The feeling quickly goes away. What I like is that the procedures are more natural, and non-invasive and the results are great. Went almost a whole year without a problem. read more

I saw Dr. Cranford because 21st & Sandy is closer to my house than the clinic in Milwaukie, where I went years ago. He was not as approachable or as comforting as either of the doctors I had seen there. When I continued having problems after seeing Dr. Cranford I went back to the Oregon clinic and they did a better job, more kindly - and they offer discounts. read more
