Dr. Cranford is the best! I had waited for 10 months before I contacted Dr. Cranford. I kept thinking I would get better and honestly, I was embarrassed and didn't want to go to the doc for something like this. I only wish I had gone sooner!! What I thought was a case of hemorrhoids actually turned out to be three different issues: I had hemorrhoids, a fissure, and a fistula. At my first appointment, Dr. Cranford made me feel at ease and embarrassment wasn't an issue at all like I thought it would be. He made me aware of every move he was making during the exam and quickly assessed my problem. I received two treatments that day for the hemorrhoids a couple hours apart. I was scheduled for surgery in his office four days later under local anesthesia. I was very nervous about the surgery but once again Dr. Cranford put my mind at ease and explained everything to me so that I could understand what he would be doing to correct my issues. On surgery day, the only slightly uncomfortable part was the first two numbing shots which was exactly what Dr. Cranford said would be the most uncomfortable part of the procedure. As someone else described, the first two shot only caused a wincing pain but was over quickly. It took all of about 5 minutes to do the actual surgery. From start to finish, I was in the room about 40 minutes total. He gave me detailed after care instructions and even his personal cell number if I needed to contact him for anything. I've never had a doctor do that before. I was really concerned about the recovery time and how painful it might be. I am happy to say that I only took 1/2 a pain pill for not even 2 days and then was able to stop them. The first day the pain was the worst but not horribly bad, honestly just uncomfortable to sit and walk too much but not very painful at all! I was actually shocked at the minimal amount of pain. I was also concerned about having a BM the next day because I thought it would be horribly painful, but it wasn't at all. I was pleasantly surprised and I could tell the surgery made a difference right away. Again, I only wish I would've gone much sooner to see Dr. Cranford! I am so thankful I had this procedure done and so thankful God led me him! He has a great personality, is friendly, talkative, and makes you feel like you matter. Dr Cranford can change your life. When you have problems in this part of your body, they're both painful and embarrassing. It's hard to discuss them and harder even to get them fixed. I went in to Dr Cranford after a surgical procedure at a local hospital. The recovery was not going according to plan and the surgeon admitted that he didn't really understand why. A few years ago, my son had some serious anal/intestinal issues. I took him to several doctors, and the prognosis in all cases was grim. He blew both of our minds with how extremely different he was from every other medical practitioner. Night and day. Dr. Cranford changed my life. Honestly. I thought I had a huge skin tag or external hemorrhoid that was more embarrassing than painful. It was also very difficult to keep that area clean. It turns out it was scar tissue. I had been so self conscious for so long about it. I didn't have insurance and was afraid to go to a rectal doctor because of all the painful experiences I heard about. Instead, I found Dr. Cranford. He made the whole experience comfortable, like I was there for a routine check up. He explained the procedure for removing the scar tissue in detail and accommodated my schedule for the procedures. He performed two procedures on two different days about 2 weeks apart to surgically remove the scar tissue. I was so nervous, mostly about the needles to numb my bum, but it wasn't that bad. Dr. Cranford alleviated all of my fears by talking through every action he took and why. After the first procedure, there was very little pain...I expected a lot more. and I was ready to do the final procedure one or two weeks later to finish the job. Almost immediately after all of the scar tissue was removed, after the second procedure, I could have cried. I think I did cry, I was so happy. Everything was back to normal. Seriously. What do you say about a man who basically saved your life? Dr Steven Cranford is truly a miracle worker. I was diagnosed with a serious issue in the one place you don't want to have serious issues. I visited two of the top Gastro surgeons in the state of Oregon. One in Eugene and one in Portland. They both said that I would need major invasive surgery. The catch was that even if this surgery was successful, it would make a huge negative impact on my comfort going forward. I was truly between a rock and a hard place. Ken R. There is still hope in finding a fantastic doctor. i'm a 54 years old very physically active man. However my lifestyle changed 2 years ago do to cronic anal fissure. I was referred to Dr. Cranford by my midwife after I gave birth. One of the many gifts my daughter gave me during our long and difficult labor was hemorrhoids! I have been going to Sandy Blvd Rectal Clinic for several years for on and off again care. Dr. Crandford is an excellent surgeon. His procedures are non painful. The most discomfort I've experienced would be the same as chugging a whole bottle of coke at once. The feeling quickly goes away. He was not as approachable or as comforting as either of the doctors I had seen there.
