The learning and experiences he got when in person started again was incredible. He thrived in academics and quickly developed his skills in orchestras. Intimidation, fear, physical assault, and bully tactics caused him unimaginable anxiety and trauma....all which has been thoroughly documented via medical records. Our experience with the teachers, on a whole, were positive however the administrative staff at Flat Rock and some of the administrative staff at the district level ignored serious complaints about bullying/harassment and violation of my son's 504 requirements. This school and DISTRICT refused to acknowledge and remediate a dire need situation to ensure a healthy learning environment for my son; thus leaving my family with no option other than removing him from Fayette Public School District immediately; which is very unfortunate because we are now paying for private school. Decisions were and still are politically motivated and the goal is to "keep the record clean" for Fayette County School District. It's difficult to penetrate to the top, and even then, the web of district connections often interfere with unbiased decision making. Parents (especially those with neuro-atypical learners) PLEASE MONITOR YOUR CHILD'S MENTAL HEALTH and speak out immediately if something is not right.

I know I only look 21 and my son is…read more16 years old. lol This year has been a change for the positive in my opinion, there is more communication from the school as well as my sons Teachers. I am not sure if it is the change in Administration or what but it is a great change. On last night 2/7/19 we attended Literacy Night and I must say I was very impressed. The Teachers were very engaged and so were the Students and Families that attended. The presentation consisted of the use of graphic organizers and if your group felt the presentation used beautiful language, strong language or persuasive language. There were no right or wrong answers only answers with supporting context. The School should definitely plan more family engaging activities that support academic growth. For the most part the presentation was organized , started on time and ended promptly at 7:00 and provided light refreshments afterwards. I only have 2 critiques. It seems that more Parents attend than what they planned for so there was limited seating. I am not sure if my Son failed to tell us about Literacy Night but I received the invitation the day of the event. But I was able to make arrangements and attend. All the ELA, Reading and Literacy Teachers should've attended to support their actual Students.

Complete track meet fail. They had to cancel the entire pole vault event because of bad design. Had…read more20+ pole vaulters warming up and ready to go then cancelled. Runway overlaps with running lanes and makes it impossible to be used. I dont know how they manage to have practice because of the bad design. Multiple of my school's athlete's families had to spend $7 a person to look at their track for 5 minutes. Worst meet in my 4 year highschool career. Please address all possible problems with your sports before inviting schools to a meet.

Overall, the school is a great environment for their students and most of the teachers and staff do their job very well. I rate this school 3 stars because Northgate is committed to student success, but their meme page is a disappointment and could use improvement.
