Looking for all the beach vibes minus the drive time?? Sandy Beach Park is the spot for you! I heard about this spot through a friend and I immediately had to go check it out. $8 for self parking. I did notice there was not an attendant on site when I arrived but there was one when I left. Spent half the day here. Enjoyed a beautiful picnic with a friend while soaking up the sun. Water is a little cold and the CA coast guard is just up the street. I saw several people camping and others jumping in the water. Wish I could bring my fur babies but it was a very clean park when I visited. read more

Wow! What a beautiful place and can you believe this is Ca-Sacramento water that comes out here. Who knew the water could be so pretty and blue . People were boating people were fishing. This is just such a nice hidden little gem. That's really pretty and scenic. Definitely grab your Picnic Basket and come have an afternoon. read more

Sandy Beach Campground in Solano County. Address: 2333 Beach Dr, Rio Vista, CA 94571. Friday, 7/28 - Sunday, 7/30/2023 - Love this little Campground. Rangers constantly drives through to make sure everyone is safe. Beach isn't too far a walk. Pros: 1) RV and tent camping. Full RV hookup. These are reserved spots. 2) there's a bench to use and a little firepit with a grill attached to it for bbq-ing. Some camp site doesn't have shade, so bring your own shade. Others have lots of shade. Lots of trees on the outer camp sites. 3) there's a water spicket at each camp site. Bring your own water hose to make it easier for you to use. We did. 4) the beach is not too far away from the camp site. Easy walk to the beach area. From our campsite 9 to the beach is like 1,200 feet. Estimate only. 5) it's mostly windy at this camp site, which i loved! Not too windy, in my opinion. But enough wind to keep away the flies and mosquitoes! I didn't even have to use any bug spray. 3 days camping and not one mosquitoe bite! Yay! And no flys flying around our foods or landing on them. 6) for us this past weekend, it was warm from 10am ish to about 2 or 3pm ish with light winds. But after that, the wind will pick up. At night its very windy, buy not too cold. In the mid 50s degree. 7) in the Campground area, there is a bathroom. Women's side had 1 stall to use. The other stall is a free shower with hot and cold water. Yay! Wear your sandels when you go shower. There's a water fountain outside the bathroom and bottle refill station. 8) beach is tiny, but cute. Water wasn't too cold. Or maybe kids can just swim in any cold water. Beach is soft and sandy Beach. 9) they do have day use/day pass as well. There's a bathroom in this area. You do have to pay for parking at this area. 10) there are park Rangers that monitors in and out going vehicles. They do shut the gate when the park is full. 11) there is a dump site to rid your dirty water from your RV for $15. 12) $8.00 daily parking & $12 park and boat launch Cons 1) no way to control this, but it can get pretty windy. Lots of trash from other people's camp site came into ours. Our camp site was trashed by the time we left on the 3rd day. We didn't even use our site and only went to our friend's site to hang out, cook and eat. I sure hope the park Rangers didn't think we trashed our site and left. Lol 2) Conclusion I like this campsite. Free shower with hot/cold water (door locks), bathroom, drinking fountain, water bottle refill station, full RV hookup, tent camping, firepit with BBQ grill inside it, table with wind blocker/shade thingy, sandy Beach, volleyball area, windy to keep away the bugs (it gets pretty windy late late at night that you can feel your RV moving), beachy area for kids to build a sand castle. No life guards on duty. Staffs were nice to us. Our fellow camping neighbors were very nice as well. We had no issues. Sunday, my friend told me she went to shower in the morning and that someone was puking in the toilet. She can hear the puke falling on the ground as well. Maybe they were too drunk, I don't know. By the time I got to the bathroom later in the afternoon, it was already cleaned up! But you can still see some of the splash marks from the puke residue on the floor. I am a beach girl so I love the actual beach on the coast BUT I will say this place was pretty great. For me closer drive and no windy roads. Easy drive to/through Rio Vista. Parking was only $8, they do offer Campground options as well. I will say they fill up fast, its a small beachy area. The water was not as icy as the coast and no big crazy waves. Great for kids. Water was pretty shallow for a while until you got further out. They do allow boats and jet skis since they have a launch area so you might see some waves from them but they should go slow around area. Overall very clean, nice bathroom and shower area as well. Sandy Beach is the closes camping place from Vacaville. It has pull through spots for each camper as well as a fire pit and picnic table. If it's too sunny near the picnic table, then they have added a piece to provide shade or even shelter in the rain. The bathrooms were clean. No dogs in the day use area of the beach. But they seemed to be allowed in the camp area. The staff I spoke with who were maintaining the grounds were friendly and nice. We have camped here several times, but not yet this year. Looking forward to it. The dump is now $15 and has been redone, you pay with a credit card on your way out. Plus if you don't want to cook, the pizza place in Rio Vista will deliver to your camping spot, or they did a few years ago. read more

I would not camp here or come her in general again! the park people excessively patrol every little thing. i understand doing it a couple times a day but every hour & sometime multiple time in 1 hr is a bit much let people camp & stop regulating every little thing. no dogs allowed by water but are allow at the camp area. I did not see a sign saying no dog by the water! if there is no sign than add one! this place does not give me your typical camping vibe feel like I'm in someone's backyard. read more

Huge amounts of space. Short walk to the Sandy beach. Flush toilets, and AC power. I used an RV adapter HAUL-MASTER 30 Amp Male to 15 Amp Female RV Pigtail Power Adapter and extension chord to run power to my tent. Possibilities were endless. Only downside was the gale force winds that would sneak up on you but it just felt more like an adventure that we were camping in tornado country. There were some red ants found but they didn't cause any issues. Was expecting huge fly issues but the winds took care of that. Firewood was like $13 a box at the nearest convenience store. Ranger made his rounds and was polite and friendly. I think we exceeded the max person limit but it wasn't an issue. Beach was kid friendly and no strong currents or insects but YMMV. read more

This place is terrible! We had a group picnic. My family and I got there at 12:50pm because my husband had to work in the morning. When we got there the park ranger said that the park was close, that it was at "capacity". I called someone from our group to tell them and they said that there was still parking. He went to the park ranger to tell her but she still said no. I asked that if a car would come out, if we can go in and very rudly she said no. Just know that they close the park whenever they feel like it. read more

We came for a picnic during the day and really enjoyed ourselves! I really appreciated how handicapped accessible it was since I was having to push my little one around in her stroller. The bathrooms were very clean as well. There is plenty of picnic tables and shade and BBQ grills. Theres a short downhill path that takes you down to the beach swimming area if you feel like taking a dip! Overall the grounds were well kept. There was a $6 day use fee to come in for a picnic. They also offer camping, but im not sure what the price is for that. Its very beautiful here and I love that its only 30 mins away from where I live! Perfect day trip if you have kids. We've been here this past weekend dated May 3-5, 2019 and I may say they have large camp sites, which I love. They have electricity and water faucets in every camp sites but they never mentioned that the electricity is for RV's only, you need to bring or buy those plug converters so that you can use it for regular plugs. Aside from this, there's mosquitoes too so make sure bring repellants. In fairness, The restrooms are clean and they have hot showers. They are very accessible and easy to find. Great!!! They are worthy of a 5-Star but the reason I gave it a 3 because for me, this is not for tent camping like we just did. The wind at that weekend is crazy around 15-16 mph and we haven't had a good night sleep. Most of us keeps getting up and out to secure each tents. I'm not sure if the month of May is just windy but if it's always like that, there's no way you can camp here using tents. This place is just good for RV's and Fifth Wheels. Being first timers here, the experience we had is really demoralizing to think to go back here again. First impression really last. I won't recommend this for tent camping but if you have RV and Trailers, this is a good place for you. Another thing I noticed in this campground, they don't have BBQ grill, so if you want some BBQ's, you need to do it in their bonfire pit which they put grill to have your bonfire and BBQ as well. As much as safety is concern, hats off to this place because they have Solano County Sheriff patrolling the area which I love the most because we are confident that it is safe especially at night. read more

Love this beach. Family fun. We sometimes just come for the day, 5$. No dogs allowed in day use area/beach. You can sit on the beach and swim or fish or ther is a boat where you can put your boats and /or jetskis in the water. You can just park your jet ski on the shore where your spot for the day is and enjoy it all. Bring a sun shade and beach chairs and a ice chest with some sammies and beer and woot woot- --its a day of family beach fun.. Dont forget sunscreen. We also camp there sometimes. 30 bucks a night, full hook ups, nice grassy spots. close to water. Dogs are allowed but when you hit the beach they must be leashed or in trailer with air on. There are always both tents and trailers camping in summer months. Cleanish bathrooms and bbqs. Fires allowed. For a quick day trip if you live in the martinez/concord/antioch area its perfect or for a impromtu camping trip. read more

Get there early, it's gets full and you won't be able to go in or out. People get upset but it's not their fault. Location is well maintained there are bathrooms toilet paper and the campsites spacious and some have a bbq area along with electricity. Got scolded by a very rude park ranger for having our dog on a leash in the parking lot area. After the storms we walked through the parking lot so my husband could check out the water levels, on a Tuesday, for just a few mins. I stayed back bc I know dogs aren't allowed on the beach. All while people were walking by with their dogs a few mins earlier. Apparently you're supposed to know the parking lot is not part of the campground, but is included in the day use area, even though it's near the campground and used by campers. I understand not wanting them in the water or on the beach, it's dangerous. But walking through the parking lot is a no-go?? But a family with 30 kids they're not watching run down the beach and leaving hoards of trash is okay? I've literally seen this park so heavily littered that rats were foraging in it all, so ridiculous. read more

Very nice rv park, day use, and launch area. I have had nothing but a great experience with the staff, especially Scott the Park Ranger. He has been very informative and explained the rules fully to me. I stayed in one of the first come sites (#6). Bathroom & shower area was clean and water was nice and hot. What you do need to know: Sandy Beach & Lake Solano are county parks. Between the 2, you can only stay 14 days. Then you have 30 day reset time period. They do give disabled & senior discounts. 2nd vehicle is $10/day. Each rv site has water and electricity. There is a dump station in the park. read more

Best kept secret! I've been coming here since late 90's. Its come along way since then. Showers, running toilets, wheel chair accessible to a point (not the beach though, just talking about restrooms). We love coming here as its close to home and for a $5 spot to cross Antioch bridge and another $5 spot for day use, its soo worth the drive out...15 minutes for us! They have camping spots with tables, fire pits, some have wind shelters as it get VERY windy here. Volley ball sand court here too. Beach is a small walk from the car and over the sand mounds down numerous trails. Bring an Easy-up shade canopy as there is NO SHADE at beach area. Some shade in upper picnic area. Sand is nice and clean. There are outdoor showers to wash off the sand when headed home. I came here as a kid and now I love bringing my own kids here. Not the place to fish. Too many people swimming and such= no fish caught! Maybe night fishing or early morning fishing if you were camping. Bring your coolers and munchies, no food services. Yes alcohol is allowed as long as you don't mess it up for yourself and your group. Rangers do patrol the beach on hot weekends and holidays. read more

Very disappointed in the staff here.. The old toothless disgusting man who is the host is just miserable to deal with.. Hes by far the most Un- accommodating host ive ever delt with.. Its was almost as if they dont want campers using their facility like we were an inconvenience just being there.. The old park host we nicked name "Mr Lahey" from trailer park boys was absolutely the worst part of trying to enjoy our vacation... Its just hard to believe that the owners of this park would allow someone that unwelcoming and unprofessional to be the face of there facility.. The guys lil intrusive too and made us feel uneasy like we were being monitered for bad behavior... Ill never pay to be treated like that again.. WORST STAFF ON DELTA.. I WANT MY MONEY BACK.. Close to home, so we thought we would check it out. We stayed Sunday afternoon through Friday morning. Campground was very quiet at night, not sure what a weekend would be like. Camp fee was great, the campground is kept very clean. We were in site 33 and had to turn our trailer the opposite direction it should have gone, this was so our door wasn't opening on the street. I think some of the best sites are 32-40. 32 & 40 have some shaded area and your trailer blocks the wind. Now the wind, that was a different story. I think we had two days when we could stand being out in the wind, otherwise it was so strong it chased us inside and rocked the trailer at times. Glad we had electric and water, because during the day we had to run our AC because of being chased inside by the wind. Camp workers were great and very available. We did sneak down to the beach on Sunday and it was wall to wall people, but a second visit on Monday proved more accessible. Only reason we didn't give it a five star, was the wind. You see windmills just past the campground, so that tells you the wind is not going away. read more

We live in Lodi, CA @ half an hour away. Love this place for a quick getaway. Booked again and found out they now charge an additional $15 to use their dumps station which used to be included in the campsite price. Wow, maybe a $5 charge but to go from ZERO to $15 seems a bit much. I do like the fact that the campsites are not small and that Rio Vista is a quick drive away. Not sure why they do not allow dogs in the beach area, mine love the water. The WIND can be brutal and unpredictable. read more

Our family had several campsites and we stayed 4 nights... First night set up our neighbors kept to themselves played great music passed 10pm laughing having a good time no big deal... Second day 11am we were finishing up breakfast and lunch prep playing music and laughing when the park ranger who by the way were all rude, told us to be considerate of others and to turn down our music, I was confused because rules state 10 pm so we turned it down even though it was not loud to begin with. We all drove to our families campsites to load unload and move things around when again ranger tells us rudely park your vehicle at your own campsite, so we told them we are all together, again there rules , third day same thing mind you bathrooms were all plugged showers closed and not to reopen till 6pm, garbage cans full because pick up on every Wednesday. I highly recommend not going to this campsite. read more

This is my new favorite beach in a cute little town called rio vista,, so much fun! You can camp or day use. Bring your jet ski or boat BBQ on the beach! Lots of families and the kids have a great day with sandy beautiful beach and a view that's unforgettable. Nice little place to spend the day with small kids. No swimming but with a life jacket on little one can play in the water and sand. Day parking is $6. Cash or card at the machine. There is also fishing but you must have a permit. There is a station for cleaning your fish as well. read more
