Caution! They were hired to enforce collection of mediation settlement items. The mediation was 2+…read moreyrs prior. They actually made it worse, accepted grossly fraudulent appraisals and refused to fix, bailed 2 weeks before summary judgment on a frivolous case against the mediator , charged me to sue trustees and misfiled the suit not finishing and did not send my file (even now), completely missed subpoena'g and hid it from me, kept my settlement checks for over a year (then sent to the wrong address) and more. Still withholding my file. And there's more.

I had a horrible experience working with Corey O'Connell at Boulay. I have recently started hearing…read moreradio ads for this company, and felt that I should share my experience. I recommend staying away. As part of my divorce in 2024, I worked with Boulay for financial guidance. After my lawyer had put together a draft division of assets, I asked the Corey review the draft and provide guidance. After some time, I met with Corey and my lawyer on a short call, in which Corey displayed what appeared to be the same draft division of assets that my lawyer put together (reformatted with Boulay branding, but same content). Corey essentially read what was on the page, and said it looked good, and the call was over. Afterward, I was sent a non-itemized bill for about ~$1500. I asked for clarification on what I was being charged for, and ended up having an extremely unpleasant call with Corey. I asked that he describe what he had done to review the division of assets, and to help me understand what value I was being provided with in exchange for the bill. He became increasingly agitated, asking about my profession and suggesting that it was the reason I was "detail oriented" and asking questions. He then told me that my assets were much smaller than his other clients, and complained that this call and emailing me were taking up too much of his time. He then offered to waive the bill, with the understanding that he would withdraw from my case. Working with Corey was the most stressful and unpleasant part of my divorce. Though he didn't say it in so many words, the impression I was left with was that he thought I was not worth his time. Corey, and Boulay, are not worth your money. Stay away.

I had to go back to court and it was so sad to hear the judge asked why wasn't the decree done…read moreright. Sad that I will end up paying $21,000 for such poor work and outrageous charges. She wouldn't even push the ex to do his work or tell truth instead, Karen said "I don't want to get sued by your ex for malpractice. " Now I will need to sue her for malpractice as she is still going after me for more money. Karen did things like even called police to check on the ex's welfare and charged me. She charged me to do the ex's lawyer work saying "do you want it done right and on time" then she charged me. I had to fight to get the charges removed. She wouldn't remove other disputed charges. I hired her knowing she had a legal asst and then her asst left and I was being charged attorney fee for things like faxing ...course she never told me this. I hired a team knowing it would save me money and then I find out I'm paying full price. I was upset with her and how I was being treated even before I signed the divorce. In fact I wrote a letter to the judge. But the judge never saw it-I had to chose between paying Karen's expert witnesses which she insisted I needed needed or she wouldn't go to court or to sign the decree. What choice did I have ? I had broken arm and just had surgery. I couldn't afford to pay $70,000 for divorce and risk losing my job. Besides everyone was believing everything the ex was saying like his expenses he listed that his car gas to and from work cost $600 a month---he drives 25 miles to work. He made 3 times the money I made yet he suddenly had nothing at divorce....Karen wouldn't follow up on marital wasting. His word was taken as truth as they, Karen and the mediator, didn't want to get sued. Karen told me that she and judge were friends and they sat on several boards together. So much for help esp when she took me to court to collect over $7,000 more. What chance in hell do I have against that "team." Well I want the truth to come out so nobody else gets hurt like I did. When I told Karen I was going to post a review --Karen sent me a link of someone getting sued for posting a review. Wow, what integrity from someone whom I trusted with my future, someone I paid almost my full year salary to protect me and fight for justice. Beware, some lawyers who don't do their jobs correctly can affect your entire future. I've dealt with a couple other attorneys and gave them 5 star review even when things didn't go my way-because they looked out for my interest and not more worried about the ex welfare-and her getting sued. The only thing my ex and I agreed on "your attorney Karen, is a crook" Said the ex and now I'm learning the truth .
