Attended an estate sale they were hosting, and the whole experience was extremely unprofessional. I was told a jewelry container was $7 due to the half-off closing-time discount. Later, another worker tried to charge me $2 for every bracelet inside, even though that wasn't what I was told. When I adjusted what I wanted and brought it back, she suddenly said she "didn't feel like writing a ticket." At that point it felt shady, like she wanted the container for herself. I left everything and walked out. I definitely won't be attending any of their estate sales again. GEORGE, Actually, I am not incorrect. I was told directly by one of your staff members that the entire container--including the jewelry inside--was $7 because it was two hours before closing and everything was half off. That is what I was going by. The issue wasn't just the price. The issue was the unprofessional behavior. When I brought the adjusted items back, your staff member looked at me and said she "didn't feel like writing a ticket." That alone speaks volumes about the customer service I received. Whether your signs were posted or not, the way your staff handled the situation changing prices, contradicting each other, and refusing to write a ticket was unprofessional. I called to get a few items appraised. George answered the phone on the second ring, told me to text him pictures of the items and quickly sent back his estimates of the value of the items. What a relief to finally have an answer without me having to do the guesswork or trying to compare my items to ones recently sold on ebay! I attend estate sales regularly, and Sandra Ziemer's are, without question, the worst. Her staff is consistently rude, and the pricing is absurd. I can only imagine the disappointment of the families who hire her--so much goes unsold simply because the prices are unrealistic. My suspicion? She lowballs the family after the sale, scoops up the leftovers, and resells them elsewhere. There are plenty of reputable, trustworthy estate sale companies out there. Much to my husband's chagrin, I have shopped all the estate sale companies in my area. Where else can you go to buy old cigar boxes, dolls without heads, a photo album with another family's pictures in them, and cat toys? While I've shopped pretty much all the companies in the area, when it came time to choosing someone to take care of my own downsizing sale, I didn't hesitate when I called Sandra Ziemer. Their sales and staff have always impressed me, and I wanted someone I knew I could trust to handle my sale. George came to meet me the day after I called him. I loved him instantly! George is a likable guy, plus my dog liked him. If my dog likes you, you're golden. And I was honestly shocked that he was able to come so quickly. I thought for sure that in this current market (where houses, apartments, and storage units are in short supply) that getting on the books would be near impossible. Not so. George's book was pretty full, but he actually could have done my sale a few weeks out; however, I was the one who would not have been ready. If you've never had an estate sale of your own, you should know that if they are going to take the time to price and stage your items for sale, there needs to be enough to sell. This isn't a garage sale, after all. So, part of that initial tour is just making sure that it's worth their time and yours for him to add your sale to his books. I don't mean that they are looking only for designer brands and top-quality furnishings. I just mean that if you're going to tell him that half the things in the house are not for sale, you might find there isn't enough to hold a sale. I greatly appreciated that as I walked George through my home and pointed out a few items that I wasn't sure if I'd part with or not, George was able to give me an estimate of how much those things were worth to his customers. In case price was a factor to me, this allowed me to decide whether or not to keep some of my things. After walking through my house, George explained how things would work (I'd have to pack up all the things I didn't want in the sale and keep them in a room behind closed doors, for instance) and we looked at dates. I chose my date, signed the contract, and that was that. Then I went to packing up all the things I knew I was going to take with me when I move. The rest of it I left out for George's team to price. George's people showed up the Monday before my sale and priced everything that day. I was truly impressed by their process. They work efficiently and when they weren't sure about something, they asked. There were a couple of important papers I had forgotten to pack away that they pulled out for me so they would not be lost in the shuffle. The weekend of the sale, I took my puppy and we went out of town. I left my number with them so they could call if they had questions. I received a call from George after the sale. He told me how everything went. I asked about getting rid of all the things that were left over and he gave me the number of a guy who has cleaned out after his sales in the past. I did end up calling that guy, and while I wasn't thrilled with them, I do not hold George accountable for that. Everything George did for me from the very beginning to the very end was nothing short of truly professional. Shopping estate sales is a lot of fun, but actually HAVING one is a lot of work. I got to see that first-hand, not just from the things I had to do to get ready for one, but from the perspective of all that everyone on his team has to do. It was also a great reminder that when you're visiting these estate sales, these are people's homes and these are their things. It is so important to treat them with respect and care, and to remember that all the money is going to someone's family. The next time you look at something and think maybe it's priced a little more than you'd want to pay, remember that your money is being split between a local business owner and a local family. The employees so far have all been very friendly and professional. The prices aren't bargain by any means, but they seem about comparable to other estate sale companies in the area. They did a sale in my area. So I went. Reasonably well organized. Stuff clearly marked. Where to go clearly marked. I don't go to enough of these to know if pricing was good, but they had a yard bench marked for $75 which seemed pretty high. But maybe it was an antique. But the employees were smoking in the backyard. Gross. Walk away if you have to smoke. But it smelled the house and area up. Very thoughtless for both the people going to the sale and other employees. read more

Getting a dead battery started, filing DMV paperwork, putting out trash, shoveling. He was like a personal assistant. The estate sale went well despite weather conditions. This company recently performed an estate sale for us, and we were totally satisfied. We had no prior connection to them, and we chose them from several we interviewed. George Ziemer was invariably responsive, reliable, and fair. He and his crew staged the sale items attractively and priced them reasonably. Photos and descriptions of the goods were presented in advance on the company's web site. They carefully sequestered the items that were to be left for the new owners. They managed the traffic effectively, and they provided us with a complete accounting of the sales. They arranged for a service to dispose of the unsold items. They sold a car for a good price and and took care of the necessary transaction with the DMV. They sold a baby grand piano. In one notable instance, we had a piece of luggage with a lock for which we had lost the key. George went to get a bolt cutter in order to sell the piece. Throughout the process George was professional, friendly, and in control. His commissions were fair. We highly recommend this service. read more

There are a few reviews for this business that say that that are quite happy with the outcome when the house is emptied by Zeimer and his staff. Rest assured, these people do NOT have their client's best interest in mind when the house is cleaned out after a 3 day sale. I have attended many of these estate sales only to find that the merchandise in many cases is way overpriced, thus in anticipation of a 50% off sale the last day. Many times the price of items at 50% off is still to high, leaving a plethora of items left unsold. In addition, some items are priced so high that it is impossible for them to sell. George will then be happy to clear out everything for you, the client. Those remaining items are things that could have been sold if priced correctly. What does George do with the items that he "cleans out" after the sale is over? Well, that stuff can be liquidated or resold to dealers, yielding addition $$ for him. If either him or the staff are interested in an item fir themselves, they can simply price it so high that no one will buy it. They will then end up getting it for free during the after sale cleanout. This business and similar ones like it provide a valuable service. But if you are considering using them, remember that you may be in a vulnerable state at the time. So do your best to ask the right questions and watch closely at what they are doing. read more

Typically avoid the yellow signs. Consistently overpriced items often times greater than retail. Rarely discounts. Unfriendly workers. I will state that the one time I spoke with George he, was polite and respectful. Have left items at the table when often told they were incorrectly priced and naturally were going to be priced higher. read more

I dislike reviews! The majority of people who do write reviews are just complainers by nature. I have to say my piece!! I had Sandra Ziemer Inc. did my in-laws' estate and I could not have been more satisfied. Sandra and George could not have been more helpful, kind, and understanding knowing how difficult this was for our family! These people work extremely hard going through years and years of people's belongings. Their staff was always professional and courteous. The sale went exceptionally well! I have seen how some other reviews criticize that things were overpriced, but they are working to sell my family's cherished possessions, it is not a garage sale! First estate sale I went to through this company and was looking forward to it. (Ruskin Road in Snyder). Walked in at 5 minutes to 4pm (they closed at 4pm - but all signs up and property open). Walked in the front door followed by an employee who said hello and held the door for us - which signaled to me it was okay for us to look for a few minutes. Walked from the first front room about to walk into the adjoining kitchen and was rudely approached by a different employee who said "Can't you see we're closing here?!" and turned the kitchen light off. We immediately turned around and walked out. Had a lot of discretionary income to spend and they lost out. I'm not quite sure why you would deter people who are already inside the home and clearly interested in making a purchase of some kind. Not pleased with this experience; took my unspent funds and went to the antique garage sale next door. read more

Drove 300 miles to the estate sale of my great aunt. Every item was priced obscenely high. My wife realized that many of the items weren't even my great aunt's belongings. The man running the cash out table was rude and dismissive. Second day, 50% off pricing was still wild overpriced. Nothing was selling. As they were closing down (early, but no one was there), my son began loading all the unsold property onto the truck we brought. The man told us that they would be happy to take all the unsold property "off our hands". Ostensibly to sell at someone else's event. What a racket. Overprice, undersell, then take everything at the end and sell it for 100%. Beware. read more

Went to a sale today had about $60 worth of merchandise priced out and written up. Went to cash out and the gentleman taking the money called over Sandra, who I'm assuming is the owner, to show her a tapestry I found that he thought she'd like. it was priced and written up as $2 he joked I could probably sell it to get for double right there! That's when she decided the price would now be $20 but definitely not because she wanted it... that'll be the last time I visit any of their sales. read more

They came in and in 1 day the entire house was organized and priced. His staff is friendly and easy to deal with.
