I…read morewent for my annual exam and then received a bill for the cost of the preventative wellness exam. My wellness exam is covered under my insurance. Marshfield coded this incorrectly and not as a screening but instead as a diagnostic test. I am now stuck in there billing/dispute process that is never ending. I opened a review/dispute with Marshfield in July, never heard anything back. I called again in September and nothing was ever reviewed or completed. I was told by the woman I spoke with in July that I would receive a letter as to what the dispute result was. I spoke with the billing supervisor, they elevated the level for the dispute. I was told to call back in 3 weeks to find out if anything has been done. I have called back multiple times and even requested that I receive a call back from the supervisor. Each time I call, I have received different information. One woman said the review was complete and code was changed. I called my insurance company, it was not. Another woman said I needed to send my EOB, not true, then next woman said the review board has 30 days to review since the elevated response was given. I also was told that a supervisor has 5 business days to call back after a call back request was made. I have not received that. I am still in the limbo of the billing department. My friend recently mentioned she had a similar experience and it took 10 months to get it resolved! My experience with Marshfield clinic has been awful.

This center is across the street from Aspirus Hospital. (There are two hospitals in the Wausau metro area; the other is St. Clare's in Weston.) There are approx. 130 providers (physicians, NPs, PAs, etc.) in the Wausau Center. They are in a wide variety of specialties including the primary care specialties of Family Practice, Internal Medicine, and Pediatrics. There is an urgent care department called Walk-In. He said I could start treatment on the spinal decompression machine without reviewing my imaging beforehand, which I found extremely unprofessional--especially since that was what he intended to do on the first day of my consultation. He also performed tests on my spine without reviewing my imaging that I worked hard to compile and bring with me, nor did he care to ask about the timeline of my injury or surgery, which made me feel uneasy and tense throughout the visit and afterwards. The doctor was also very confusing to communicate with during the consultation appointment, often saying things that didn't make sense and difficult to follow, which added to my frustration and made me even more uneasy about proceeding with treatment. I was also concerned about how he could set the machine properly without reviewing imaging to know where to target. Later, I confirmed with the manufacturer that the areas I was most concerned about are not even directly accessible by this machine despite being misled by the doctor into thinking that they would be, which made me distrust the information I was being given even more. In addition, I was told I'd have to pay over $5,000 upfront for a full treatment package, with no option to pay per visit or try a single session first. The office staff were also difficult to communicate with, often unable to give clear information about pricing or the equipment, and seemed frustrated when I asked questions to better understand the treatment. Overall, the experience felt rushed, confusing, and focused on money rather than patient care. I left feeling anxious, tense, and very uncomfortable, and I would not recommend this clinic to anyone seeking a careful or trustworthy provider.
